' 3pts lost today against a very poor Villa Side '

Sat Nov 09, 2013 6:02 pm

I honestly went to Villa today believing City would win this one and if they played to their potential this was the 3pts we would def get out of the next 9 available to us, with Man Utd and Arsenal being our next opponents.
Villa had have a poor record this season and have not scored for approx 470 mins, also they had a sickness bug, plus their camp was on a downer due to recent form and ours were on a high due to the win over the Jacks.

I still believe Campbell and Maynard are not the answer and Gestede is def not the answer, we need quality strikers, what did we do or create in front of their goal?

The first half was an even account, with nothing really between us.
Nil,Nil was a fair result.

Some fans will blame Marshal for the first goal, I think it was an unstoppable goal and would of taken a super save to save it, but that was only being able to see it once.

After that goal there was only one team going to win it, Villa, we had nothing in the engine then or the quality to change the game then.

Their keeper never had one save to make today

Our fans were superb, players and Malky applauded us at the end, Malky gave an extra wave, when we sang don't sack Malky, who I still believe will be sacked soon, sadly

Our fans sang loudly today 'We'll always be blue, We'll always be blue' and we were out in force in Blue

Just my opinion of today

Your opinions please :ayatollah:

Same crap served up annis yet people would rather be in the love inn with MM and watch dire football each week, which does not apply to me anymore as im a customer. Tan will ditch him soon imo and i wouldnt give a flying f**k to be fair as im only down there to be entertained now but the entertainment value atm is like watching cricket for me :ayatollah:

I think Campbell, odemwingie and maynard can get us goals but they need to be in teams who will use the wings and puts the balls in the box for them, but we always just have one up top try hoof it to them or pass it through the centre of the park and hope they can get on the end of it, the buck stops with malky, people can say we aint got the players to play certain ways then malky needs to take a look at him and his recruitment team because it seems he can get the defensive players spot on but for the attacking part of the team he keeps making blunders after blunders in that part of the team

Malky will be sacked and rightly so. Playing that type of football at this level constantly is suicidal. My worry is the replacement Tan brings in, not Malky being sacked. If he brings in someone with credentials like Di Matteo, fair enough. If he brings in a name like Shearer for the wrong reasons then that's terrible.

We must have the most fickle fans ever.

You change your mind after every game :laughing6:

Last week you were telling everyone how you got it wrong by criticising his tactics in the past and it is very effective style of play. And now he should be rightly sacked again because of a rubbish style of play?

Well if their keeper didn't have a save to make, that's pretty shit. Really thought we'd be good for a draw today.

You cant have it both ways Annis.

You moan about the football yet say Malky will sadly be gone soon?

Unless of course Tan is to blame for the negative tactics we employ?

I like Malky as a fella but I couldnt give two fucks if he goes to Norwich as long as he takes his shit football with him.

Agreed that it was 3 points lost today but to blame it only on the strikers is to ignore a wider problem.

Odenwingie has an excellent premierleague record but the problem in our set-up is that if you are going to play with one up front then the wide players need to be supporting the front man and also provide an attacking threat.... Cowie and unfortunately Bellamy offer none of that. Cowie hardly touched the ball today and bellamy's contribution was limited.

Campbell looked decent when he came on but was winning the ball in the channels - what's he doing there when we were looking for a goal!

The game was crying out for the pace and flair of Noone and the cleverness of Kimbo.

Someone on the other MB made a good point that setting up so defensively may be a good tactic against some of the top sides for we really should be showing more ambition against a side like Villa - who really were poor.

Chris, Malky is still learning and I believe he brought us up and no matter what should be backed for the whole of this season, he deserves that at the very least

It's the first time this season I feel we have thrown points away or not Got what we should have . Today should have been a point minimum with. The injuries and current form of villa .

I think you are confusing two separate issues. Complaining about an over-interfering chairman does not mean unequivocal support for the manager.

However I have been willing to forgive Malky of our dreadful football of last season as it managed to get us promoted. It might get us relegated this season so I agree that I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go unless he dramatically changes the way we approach games.

He will take us back down if he dont start learning quickly.

Mark my words.

He had some serious money to spend in the summer and weve got Don Cowie in the starting XI and dont look like scoring from open play.

On Malkys head so be it.

Yes as much as the fans have rallied around MM with regards to the issues of Tan it is bizarre and frightening that Don Cowie is anywhere near the Premier League. In all his games so far he delivered one exceptional corner but apart from that his contribution has been less than Kazakh Alisher Apsalyamovs.

We have and rightly so, after Malky's first 2 seasons, Malky is a young, energetic, passionate manager still learning and I believe he will keep us up if Tan keeps his distance

Just got home and I must admit I can't see why MM continues to play PO or FC up top on their own with no support to feed the ball in from out wide, why is Kim or Noone not starting?? Where are we going to get a front goalscorer from?? Hopefully AC will soon give us options
I fear for MM no plan b :(

You could argue that that applies far more to many players before Don Cowie!

I am very much behind Malkt and I think it would be a mistake to get rid of him. BUT we cant go the season like we are. I thought at certain points we looked good, but the lack of cutting edge up front is a joke. We cannot keep letting teams have o er 20 shots on our goal and expect to nick a win on the counter all the time.

I thought we would really have a go at villa today as I think we are a better side than them. Its a shame we hardly tested them

Re: ' 3pts lost today against a very poor Villa Side '

Sat Nov 09, 2013 7:49 pm

Our goal difference is poor and we just aren't creating enough chances from open play... Our tactics and set up are totally wrong.. We need to play with a higher tempo and more direct with wingers running at full backs...

Some of ours fans need to get a grip, We are in the best league in the world it isn't going to be easy for a newly promoted side like us. Was it like this when we were losing 4-0 to the likes of Hereford Town or something in division 4?! Get behind the team and the manager :ayatollah: :malky:
