Atmoshere Sunday

Tue Nov 05, 2013 11:50 am

Swans fans think that we were awful on sunday!!

For me personnally I couldnt hear them at all from 105 in the canton and I thought it was quite loud by us, however it wasnt the best for a derby game. I think the football that was on show with very few chances didnt help to create a great atmosphere.

Some of the opinions from the Jacks;

I think the home fans and team were crapping themselves in the first half; lots of hoofball to nowhere going on. They gained a lot of confidence at not conceding in the first half and came out fighting, then when the goal went in the home fans suddenly came alive, thinking they could win.

Other than the Chopra last minute winner game their fans have been generally crap in every recent derby. They were particularly quiet yesterday mind, while our fans were very good IMO until the team started stinking the place up.

I agree i thought cardiff fans offered nothing untill they scored. Not seen any live games of thiers since they have been at legoland so not sure if it was nerves or if they are always that quiet. That said When they did score they made hell of a noise with all the ground singing which is something we dont get at the liberty.

C'mon their not going to give us any compliments especially after we just beat them.
It was very tense but a cracking atmosphere and a cracking result.

I posted on another thread on here yesterday, the home atmosphere was very quiet from the away end and we were loud throughout. You lot seem to be posting conflicting views so it seems the acoustics aren't great in the stadium. A few of us were commenting during the game on how quiet the home fans were up until you scored. I was genuinely surprised at how quiet you were.

Not trying to score points, it's my honest opinion.

It wasn't good first half. I sit in the family stand and it took a while for the Ninian to join in with the Canton.

I basically agree with the last jack, it was nervous, but when we (the fans) realised this was on and they are not light years better than us it started cranking up. After we scored it really went up a level.

1-0 to the family stand :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Sat in the Ninian and hardly heard a peak out of the Swans fans the whole game, the noise was deafening all around me!!! I thought their away fans were awful especially after the goal went it it was silence!!!

Yeah, see...complete opposite.

The Jacks did try but any song they started to sing was then drowned out by the Bluebirds singing in full volume.

I was in the Ninian stand 116.
:ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
The only song I heard the Jacks sing which didn't get a response was 'is this a library? ', which I thought was met with ironic silence. Maybe most City fans were confused as how would the Jacks know what its like in a library. The majority of them can't read. ;)

Ironic silence?! I've heard it all now.

The acoustics in the stadium are shite, I've sat in every stand and haven't been able to hear the others.

This probably explains it then. Like I said, we seemed very loud and couldn't hear you lot.

when we are tense we arent so great, tense until the goal on sunday and tense for the last few seasons trying to get up. Man city game proved what we can do, that was a phenonemal atmosphere, far better than anything ive heard us like before. All the jacks i know saw that game so they know whats what, they just picking at straws....

I'm in FS right behind the goal which as you probably know is next to where you were, heard you a few times first half but barely nothing 2nd half.
Like you say it was loud for last 20 mins after we scored as all parts singing together.
It's been debated on here loads of times about noise when one part claims to be loud and other parts saying they could hardly be heard.
Quite simply, the acoustics in the stadium are shit!

Clutching at straws. The only thing you can try to claim is out singing us? Which the answer to that is no way. I was in the Canton, the noise was fantastic, especially the second half when we got at you and started bossing things
You really were poor and so were your travelling fans

It's not the same anymore IMHO. With all the new fans on both sides there's no real hatred there like it was back in the early 90s when I had my first taste of a derby in that famous FA Cup game at the retch. The hatred was real and the atmosphere electric. You can't get those days back I know, but they were the real derbies. Still feels good to beat you though.

Problem is the jack has a point, I'm usually Canton stand and rarely hear much of the away teams, this time I was right next to the segregation in the Ninian and the Canton didn't sound as loud as I expected, around me in the Ninian was also quiet. The jacks first half were loud, bearing in mind I was next to them.
Must be the acoustics as mates of mine in the Canton on Sunday said they barely heard the Jacks and me being right next to them barely heard the Canton first half.
They really need to swap the stands, how can you have real banter when you can't hear each other.

Sounded good to me, Not great but good. The jacks on the other hand, I heard maybe 2 songs from them and the noise from them was woeful. Can the jacks do anything good?

A good and sensible post. Like I said, makes sense.

Nanny McPhail - I wasn't clutching at straws. I'm giving you my honest opinion. You're failing to realise that the way you describe our fans as "poor" is exactly the same way we are talking about the cardiff fans. It's probably the poor design of the stadium. Faldo must have it right.

When watching the game back on TV the atmosphere sounds great, you can hear all the chanting/songs clearly. Obviously in the stadium were the jacks are opposite to the main vocal section (Canton stand), they might have difficulty hearing because of the sol called stadium acoustics.

Acoustics seem fine for other games and against other teams.

Personally could hardly hear swansea, I dont remember hearing them clearly once.
City fans were ok, IMO it lacked an edge. Canton was loudest and I sit inbetween away fans and canton in Ninian Stand

So you can hear the away fans normally but not when we were there? Because 2500+ Swansea fans aren't as loud as other fans that have been there? Right oh. This is just getting petty now.

I couldn't hear you no
Have heard others yes

No petty but factual, you weren't loud and neither were we really.

Thought the Canton was good but it is slightly a disadvantage when the loudest stand is literally the opposite end of the Away end.
