Tree surgeon wood is usually fresh wood which isnt good for woodburners, its great if you can keep it a year or two but not much good fresh as its too tarry. Softwoods are also a no no, for the same reason.

Moo, be careful with them, just make sure that they are not softwood or fresh. Softwood burns like paper doesnt last 5 minutes or produce much heat and fresh hardwood leaks creosote and will screw your flu up, if you have an ordinary chimney that isnt lined the creosote can even leak through the walls. Hope that helps.

£5.50 bags

Other than that the only other place I can think of is TESCO Extra in Pengam Green mate. They usually have some stacked in the foyer area as you walk in around winter time.

I wouldn't buy fucall from topstak they are a rip off. I sell tons of logs £50 a ton, cardiff is abit out of my way tho (bridgend) I am also a chimney sweep and service log burners. The amount of people having log burners installed is mad, getting busier and busier.

PM me your details fella. I'll pass them on to my father as he has a van and he might be happy to drive up to Bridgend and pick up a load from you as he works up that way often enough anyway. Obviously rather the money go to a fellow Cardiff City fan than to topstak so its up to you.

Just chuck bag of coal on your car whenever you go to a fuel garage, they never notice... Or put two on, then go in and pay for one

Haven't got one yet but will be next year. If I cut my own wood how long am I supposed to leave it before burning?

Re: Anyone got any cheap sources of firewood

Wed Nov 06, 2013 5:09 pm

12 months ideally - the wood ideally should have less than 20% moisture

Buy a moisture meter to test your wood they are very useful
