SHELVEY IN TROUBLE FOR 'SWIMMING AWAY'

FA to consider Jonjo Shelvey punishment in next 48 hours after South Wales derby 'swim away' gesture to Cardiff City fans

The Swansea midfielder could face sanctions from the authorities after making a 'swim away' gesture to Cardiff fans

Swansea City star Jonjo Shelvey will discover in the next 48 hours if and how he will be punished for his controversial 'swim away' gesture to Cardiff City fans following yesterday's South wales derby.

FA chiefs will discuss the matter in the next two days after Shelvey's actions were caught on television cameras as he passed a group of Cardiff fans just minutes after the 1-0 defeat.

The gesture is a reference an incident which took place in 1988 where Cardiff fans allegedly retreated into the sea after the two sets of supporters clashed.

Shelvey's actions capped a dismal day for the former Liverpool FC man who was at fault for Cardiff's winner as he left the post he was supposed to be covering at Cardiff's corner.

There had been concerns over potential trouble betweens fans at Sunday's game, but South Wales Police tweeted on Sunday evening that no arrests had been made at the ground.

The tweet read: "No arrests at the Cardiff City Stadium today. Great to see both sets of fans being passionate & well-behaved".

Thought it was funny TBH and just showed how p***ed off he must have been feeling inside after the game ended (just in case anyone missed it :laughing6: ) in a comfortable...

SCFC should be punished. Every time a new player signs from them he's incouraged to do the swim away which glorifys hooliganism.

I personally don't care that he did it, just goes to show what length he will go to, to endear himself to the Jacks cos it sure ain't for his football skills :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

I agree. Players doing the lip to mouth after scoring etc is fair enough, but the swim away has nothing to do with football
If wed have lost this would of caused uproar

Bit like Trundle and Tate with that flag. Shelvey just looks a bit silly this morning. Who cares? We're Cardiff City, we can take it. Just move on.

massive over reaction in my opinion i thought it was because the ugly tw*t was indicating he was out of his depth all afternoon

Just leave him be but when he ends up with some lunatic throwing a coin at him and possibly blinding him in a future derby game he'll only have himself to blame for incitement. If you play with fire then its your own fault when you get burnt to be honest.

To me it was just a desperate attempt to win over the Swansea fans because he knew he was to blame for the goal!!... Made himself look like a bit of a prick to be honest!!... Even the jacks can't stand the ugly fucker!! ha ha... Complete bonehead!!

The sad thing is that Swansea fans loved Tate after defacing the Welsh flag.

The fact he done it yet they never won is quite strange.
