Celtic winger James Forrest a £7 million target for Cardiff City


THE 22-year-old Hoops winger has been watched by the Premier League club after standout performances in the Champions League.

CELTIC star James Forrest is a target for Cardiff City.

MailSport can reveal the highly-rated winger has been on the EPL side’s radar since the summer and they have watched him on four occasions.

Boss Malky Mackay made a personal check on the 22-year-old in the Champions League clash with Barcelona earlier this month.

Despite problems behind the scenes at Cardiff, Mackay is focused on his job and has a list of potential signings for the January transfer window and the following summer. He would like to add an injection of pace and some dribbling ability – and that’s why Forrest is on his radar.

The Hoops ace – under contract until December 2016 – has been in great form and was brilliant once again in the 2-1 midweek Euro win over Ajax.

Celtic have had to deal with English clubs watching Forrest for the past two-and-a-half years and the Hoops hierarchy have always gone out of their way not to encourage bids.

They have never put an official price tag on his head but Parkhead sources insist no bids of less than £7million would be considered.

What the hell is the safety zone as you call it,take a look at the bottom half of the the table and you will see how little points difference there is between a large number of teams.....no such thing as a "safety zone" for goodness sake

I love how so many cardiff fans are crying about not being able to beat teams away from home and chances of beating their beloved chelsea and man utd are fading.

also its not easy and carrow road is a tough place to get points when packed..
at this rate yeah we probably will get relagated if you lot carry on negging the team out and one or 2 players catch a drift of whats being said on forums the negativity would probably spread

Why does it matter if we are in the safe zone? We're barely out of there, and had we made the right transfers and used the loan system to our advantage then maybe we would've seen that extra defender/winger/striker which we so clearly need.

Instead we have our best striker in Odemwingie playing out wide.

An ideal target for us IMO, we could use with someone like him now.

Seems £7m is a bit steep to me, Looks like a potentially a good player though!
