Another manager leaves, tbh saw that coming after Monday.

Updated Now Confirmed Ian Holloway now left by mutual consent.

Ian Holloway gone from Crystal Palace. The bottom two Premier League clubs have now both sacked their managers.

Wednesday 23rd Oct 2013.

Ian Holloway is expected to announce he will leave Crystal Palace by mutual consent less than five months after leading them to promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
A press conference has been called for 5.30pm on Wednesday where Holloway and Palace chairman Steve Parish will both be present.
Holloway offered to quit on Monday night but Parish refused to accept his resignation and urged Holloway to stay. They held further talks again that night before Holloway left to consider his future as Palace manager.

Under pressure: Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway met with club officials after the 4-1 loss to Fulham

Yesterday he gave the players the day off and incredibly players received text message on Wednesday morning to tell them that they were not required to turn up at the club's training complex as talks continued between Holloway and Parish.
Parish did not want to lose his manager and had no intention of firing him after the 4-1 defeat against Fulham at Selhurst Park, but Holloway has forced his hand.
Holloway's tactics and desire to play a different way in the Premier League have not been met with the universal approval of the players and they are refusing to change their habits.
The Eagles have taken just three points from their opening eight games and host Arsenal on Saturday.

Contrast: Holloway lifts the Championship play-off final trophy after beating Watford at Wembley
Parish often holds post-match meetings with Holloway after home games but the manner of the south London club’s capitulation against Martin Jol’s side on Monday night placed increased significance on the debrief.
The hosts led through Adrian Mariappa but stunning strikes from Pajtim Kasami and Steve Sidwell along with goals from Philippe Senderos and Dimitar Berbatov turned the game on its head.
Sources also told Sportsmail that Holloway spent ‘significantly longer’ than usual in the players dressing room after the match as he read his squad the riot act.
Holloway was also involved in a heated confrontation with a section of Palace fans at full-time.

Monday night’s meeting with Parish was so long that Holloway took over an hour to turn up for the post-match press conference.
When he finally attended, Holloway - who answered his mobile phone during media duties - said: ‘The chairman and myself talk all the time - we will be speaking to each other tomorrow as well.

‘What was said in the meeting? We both said we want what is best for the football club.
‘But I’m not talking about what was said in the meeting and I’m not talking about my future at the football club.
‘What did I tell my players? I told them to buck up their ideas because this league is relentless.
'It doesn’t get any easier; we’ve got Arsenal on Saturday.’
On his confrontation with supporters, Holloway added: ‘I felt their disappointment to be honest, because it was a London derby and we lost. I didn’t think the Fulham supporters were very respectful singing: “Can we play you every week.”’

Holloway gone

with palace announcing Holloway quitting, what impact will that have on us, in light of what recently happened and supposed request to malky to leave?

I think Tan will get twitchy! despite that joke of a statement last week!

Your thoughts?

Quoting Sky Sports web-site: He is due to appear at a press conference in central London at 5.30pm with co-chairman Steve Parish and it is understood they will announce his departure.

Holloway's position at the club has looked shaky since his side were beaten 4-1 by Fulham on Monday night.

He was called in to talks with Parish after the game with further key discussions said also to have taken place on Tuesday.

Palace have won just once in nine matches this season and remain second from bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety.

Holloway took charge at the club just under a year ago and took into the Premier League but before the press conference was announced, Parish seemed to be planning for a return to the second tier.

He said: "We've tried to get a squad that can keep us in this division, but also be a very strong squad in the Championship should the worst happen.

"When you go down it's about what state you're in. You have to plan for both eventualities and we'll do our best to stay up. It might be about whether there are three worse teams."

That's a real shame.

Pity he didn't stay to finish off the job he'd started doing so well - guaranteeing that Palace would be relegated this season!

Let's hope they don't appoint anyone decent.

I'm with you, I want them to fill one of the relegation spots and Holloway was fast on his way to doing that. However, I don't think any manager can keep them up, the players that Holloway brought in aren't good enough.

Not good for us, preferred it that Ian Holloway stayed with Palace as they were going down.

All those bookies who had Malky down as next manager to leave got it wrong again!

You're so right Ian. Just had to sit down for a bit and gathered my thought and thought what manager is out there that improve them? None! What manager would take the job? No sane person!

I've calmed down a bit and can still see them getting relegated. Parish is trying the old road where by sacking the manager and bringing in a new one will give the team a lift.

You need those two bottom spots filled and relegated asap.

Arsenal Saturday

Be very surprised if one of those takes the job on.Theres no real money at the club and you could see that by the signings they made in the summer.I've a little sympathy for Hollaway as his hands have been a little tied by the finances at this club and whoever takes over will need to be a miracle worker to keep that squad up.He won't be long out of work though as a championship club are bound to come calling.

Gone so soon into the season, should have been given to Christmas at the least.Managers aren't given enough time these days.
Malky better watch his back because i can see VT pulling the trigger if we have a bad run.

Never rated Holloway and If I was palace chairman I'd have sacked him as soon as he signed a player then didn't even use him in the 25 man squad lol. What a waste of money.

Re: " Ian Holloway leaves Crystal Palace "

If Holloway had failed to accomplish the amazing achievement of getting Palace promoted, he would still be the Palace manager in the Championship now and he would not have to worry about losing his job at all. It's an absolutely incredible decision, I hope Palace go down and then go down again. I'm not Holloway's biggest fan, but it's obvious Palace have no right to be in the Premiership as they are nowhere near good enough and don't have the squad. Holloway must be regretting getting them promoted and this is the knee jerk reaction of a chairman who doesn't have a clue.

Parish should be thanking Holloway for this season in the Premiership which will financially improve the club in the future, even if they go straight back down, not sacking him! I think Palace will continue to get worse and worse now, they don't have the finance to be able to attract anyone better than Holloway and I think Derby's lowest points total will be under threat.

Just pointing out that Holloway 'walked' and his Chairman tried to persuade him to stay ;)

Fair enough, I have no idea why Holloway would throw in the towel and leave so early into the season mind. It's saying he's left the club by mutual consent, which could mean anything these days.

I appreciate that. Seems like he had "had enough" of some of his players and their attitudes :o

I can't see any manager taken them over. They are a club in decline. The stadium shouldn't have a health and safety certificate.

I just read a piece in the Telegraph saying he's pretty much taking responsibility for not keeping the spirit in the squad that got them up from the Championship. New signings have ruined morale within the squad it seems. Obviously, he doesn't have the Malky dossier when signing players!

Not having a go mate. I've only been to one worse ground and that's Portsmouth, Toilets are sheds, disgrace. If those toilets were in office blocks it'll be shut down. We're not cattle and I did sabotage the toilets at Palace last season, pulled all the piping out and flooded the place. If you've ever been there then you'd notice it looks like a roman bath where you walk down into the bogs.

Palace really don't look like an attractive club to manage, No money, In the relegation zone, awful stadium. Whoever takes over will have a incredibly difficult job for sure.

I thought it was the most dignified leaving conference a Premiership manager has ever made, & probably will make.

What ever else people think, Ian Holloway is a decent bloke, one who knows his limitations.
