'MALKY YOU WERE OUT THOUGHT IN-PLAY'

Sat Oct 19, 2013 6:26 pm

Let's get things straight before I start, before the game I didn't expect anything from the game other than a battling performance :ayatollah:

When we set up with our formation it was clear we were trying to hit Chelsea on the break and set pieces, which is absolutely fair enough considering the two squads.

What bothered me though and where I thought we lost the game was all about three people, David Marshall, Malky Mackay and Jose Mourinho.

Marshall has been superb for us for this season and all of last but today I think he was at least partly responsible for three of Chelsea's goals, the first, third and forth, I honestly cannot remember what happened for the second so I will have to see Match of the Day to pass judgement.

At 1-0, which was an unbelievable feeling at Stamford Bridge, even though Chelsea dominated possession they didn't really pose a huge threat to our goal.

The game hinged on a few decisions, firstly Marshall's errors and the substitutions of both managers.

I thought we were crying out for a creative player like Kimbo but to take off Medel was without a shadow of doubt the turning point.

We lost our defensive stability when Medel was substituted, maybe he was injured or tired from the International games but regardless it proved a turning point.

Edin Hazard was Chelsea's main threat and that showed more and more once Medel left the pitch.

At 2-1 to Chelsea, they took off their left back when City were finding a bit of rhythm in their play and I thought the opportunity was there for Malky to bring Campbell and push Odemwingie in to the area vacated by the fact they had no left back.

But we didn't.

Chelsea went on to score a third and then Mourhino brought a left back on to close up shop.

Maybe people won't agree but I honestly believe had we got it tactically right during the game we may have got something from the game.

I don't expect us to go gun-ho but with more belief I really believe in certain games like today we could have provided a shock or at least a point.

Not depressed or bitterly disappointed but think we could get have got something.

Oscar, Torres & Azpilicueta are worth more than our entire squad.........

Not that hard when you possess that much firepower.

Question: If Mourihno managed City and Malky managed Chelski would you expect a different result ?

really tough place to go......so did ok
apart from marshall having a mare......and infact he ought to have been sent off just before chelseas 1st goal ...it been said he was ill prior to game.........

Not quite.

Whereas I agree with much of what you say, Mourinho brought on Torres and went 3 at the back when score was 1-1.

Carl I agree with 2/3 of your points. Whilst a lot of people will agree about DM I think the game was changed and subsequently won off the pitch by the tactical changes made by the manager's.
It never fails to amaze me how on many occasions over this and previous seasons we have the better of teams then just let them get back into the game.
We have learnt and played the game for the full 90 mins under MM, but let's stop showing teams too much respect and let them start worrying about us.
We can and do show what we can do at times, and when we do it is great to watch but let's put the pressure on the opposition and let them worry about us.
Today though the better team won on the day

Yeah, cos Chelsea were always going to be worried about us!

i thought city were totally out classed, but they put up a good game.
as for chelsea not posing a threat they scored four goals, they brought one player on which cost them 50 million
are whole team wouldnt cost that,we were outclassed but i am proud of the boys,

We lost to a better & bigger squad it's as simple as that. We have to accept the fact that we won't play like we did in the championship. If we stay up and build a squad like Norwich, Swansea & Southampton have then we will be okay.

Some right gimps on here

Marshall had a nightmare today, that's a fact, why you're all slating Carl's PERSONAL analysis is beyond me, (he's a fan like the restt of us)

Their first goal (under fifa regulations) shouldn't have stood, which would have made the second half very different

We were outclassed , let's move on and look to get something from Norwich

Cowie cost us for the 2nd goal, he cudnt get the ball away from his feet all he had to do is pass it. That led to torres winning the corner and the goal came soon after that.

Sorry Carl but you are wrong fella

You can't blame Malky for a poor day at the office for Marshall

And their sub was at 1 each

Thought we did well and with a bit of luck may have come away with something

Hope we get a point or 3 at Norwich :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Because its full of contradictions, we need a creative player like Kim, but removing a defensive midfielder was wrong ?

I was a bit disappointed we didn't bring on Oscar for our little bit of trickery, or a £50 million pound striker to be a little more attacking. So Malky was wrong, as if he adjusted the tactics a little we would have got something away at last years Champion League winners with some daft record of 47 wins 3 draws from JM last 50 home EPL games (needs validating :? )

If it wasn't a sticky it would be down the page with the other dross.

The trouble is that too many of us who should know better are getting carried away like a certain football owner and expecting us to get more out of our games than we currently are!

Carl's probably correct regarding the turning points, I was shocked when Medel went off and Marshall was obviously going to have an off day at some point (would be interesting to know if he knew about the bouncing the ball rule as Cech certainly didn't) but I was proud of the way we played today. The result was probably as I anticipated it would be when the fixtures were announced all those months ago but we didn't deserve to be on the end of a scoreline like that and who knows if the referee had only known the rules it could have been so different which seems to be the viewpoint of a few football pundits

No offence to you or Carl but thats why Malky's the manager and your the fans.As I've said elsewhere the decision to take medal off was the correct one and its my guess that if we had more depth in Medals position he would have been given the day off.He was knackered and to keep him on would have risked injury and Medal, more than any other player is one we can't afford to have injured at the moment.Put it another way,if Malky had of kept Medal on and he gone on to pull a hamstring or worse then evryone would be queing up to slit Malky's throat, thats why its always better to wait and consider before writing a piece like Carl's just done in the heat of the moment.

Criticising Any of the players or malky's tactics is counter productive and serves no purpose.Malky and the players are only human and mistakes will be made, thats football. We got beat today by a side with class players who are worth as much as the National Debt of a small country. We are all armchair managers and thats all we are...lets leave the decisions to the people who know best and support the city regardless of any results.Lets do as fans what we do best and sing our hearts out week in week out and enjoy our journey and leave malky to do his thing...In malky we trust.....or maybe carl You are the new special one and we should have been singing your name today.lol.

You've lost 4 of your last 8 and won 2 of those with 2 draws. If that continues and i'm not saying it will one way or another then you'll be down the bottom at the end do the season.Norwich game is huge.

Thought malky coming towards us before kick off was class, n at end off game no fist pump, blew a kiss, duno how u lot may take that but it showed me how much he loves the fans and even more after the last 2 weeks, thought we showed him great support especially at start when he kept looking down towards us as we sung his name, Malkys a blue

Re: 'MALKY YOU WERE OUT THOUGHT IN-PLAY'

Absolute nonsense. We've got no strength in depth. We were outclassed in the second half because of their squad and the class in their squad. Medel played 2 international matches and travelled over 5000 miles.
It's against clubs like Norwich next week we should be looking at points. Even then Norwich are are a decent side at home.

i think u r forgetting Medel played the otherside of the world for Chile on Tuesday.....can't blame Malky for taking him off.

We were undone by our own mistakes today, Marshall has got to take responsibility for two of the goals(he takes the plaudits so has to take the rubbish) whether the first goal was legal or not he has to be aware of the player stood next to him.

The third Gunnar was weak in the tackle and we got punished. Tactics had nothing to do with it.

I thought Jose played a blinder. We played one up front packed the midfield and Chelsea were finding it hard to break our midfield and defense down. At 1 all Jose went three at the back and added Torres to their attack. This extra player caused us loads of problems and disorganized us because nobody knew who to pick up and there was always somebody free creating more space. Then when they went 3-1 he put a defender back on like to say job done.

We didn't play bad just got beat by a better side. On to Norwich :ayatollah:
