Just bumped into a friend who used to work

Fri Oct 11, 2013 12:02 pm

for the City and has recently gone on to bigger and better things and whos word and opinion I would take over anyone on this forum.

I quizzed him on whats going on, and what Iain Moodys, or "Moods" as he called him, actually was.

He said he cant believe they have given someone of Moodys calibre the boot. He said he is brilliant at what he does, has so many contacts in the game, speaks 4 languages and although its an over used cliche he really was Malkys right hand man. He said Moody spent the whole of last season scouting Europe in preperation for this season. He did say however that nothing surprises him with the Malaysians they really do what they want.

Worrying times. Up until now I was giving the benefit of the doubt to the club until it all comes out officially but I am seriously worried now.

Someone can be the best in the world at their job but if they do something wrong they are still sackable.

Until the truth comes out I wont pass judgement on Moody's "gardening leave"

If the apparent new scout is true (again nothing official) then thats bonkers. I would say we should demand answers, but with any business the owner makes decisions and doesnt have to justify them.

Interesting post.

As for Craig, if he is guilty of a stackable offence, then fine (you've got to question why the gardening leave & no suspension and sack though...)

More worrying is the replacement drafted in by Tan.

All large business have disciplinary procedures. If Moody has done something wrong then an investigation will take place where relevant evidence is brought forward and a hearing takes place. Usually no more than 7 days after suspension, although this can be extended. Gardening leave is basically suspension but not so formal sounding.

I'm well aware of that. From what I understand, he has withdrawn the suspension & placed him on leave instead. That points to me that it's not a disciplinary situation.

Putting that to one side, to place who he has done instead is crazy. Nothing official, but it seems a done deal. I can't see why you continually try to justify Tan's decisions though.

Each to their own I suppose.

If you read my post I actually said if Tan has put this new person in charge of recruiting its bonkers.

As for the moody situation i used the word IF, therefore its a hypothetical situation.

I have said many times that until the truth is out ill reserve judgement.

Its funny chuckles, you laugh at ITK posters over everything and dont believe them.....except this, where you are taking their rumours as gospel......suits your agenda i suppose.

Seems he is 'acting up' in the role.

Thats fair statement Craig and if he has done something illegal then obviously he has to be brought to justice but from the conversation ive just had it would appear its more a case of the Malaysians not having a clue what they are doing.

Agree with you on business owner not having to explain his reasons as it goes. As in most business if you make decisions and alienate customers you just lose those customers. Until Tan starts losing customers then he will carry on regardless.

Stop being so bloody argumentative, Chuckles. Craig didnt try and justify it at all.

He just said, and rightly so, a business owner does not have to explain his decisions. Which is true wether we like it or not.

Is this a conversation with someone who no longer works at the club? Straight from the horses mouth then. Priceless.

by sending him home on gardeners leave, tan is leaving the door open to bring moody back in an then suspending hin with view to a full hearing,if he investigates while he on gardeners leave and finds no case no hearing,if he suspends him an the hearing goes in moodys favour, moody could resign an go for constructive dismisal.
it just a loop hole employers use,i have seen it when i was a union rep.

Not argumentative at all, just debating opinions that are linked to the topic.

All you've done here is derail the thread and they to abuse someone... Please stop trolling. :thumbright:

I wouldnt be surprised if Moody has done anything other than spend too much of Tans cash, theres been posts referring to Tan thinking wages etc were included in the 35 mill but they were not.

Tan freaks out, suspends Moody and brings one of his own in.

Because he only left in the summer and knows Iain Moody and Malky very well :? Also, having worked for City for 15 years and still living in this area I suggest he still has close friends in the club.

Besides, where have I said anything that he confirmed about the present situation? Enlighten me?

I said he explained to me what Iain Moody did and how important he was to Malky and this football club and how he was shocked by the decision, but knowing the way the Malaysians operate, not really suprised.

So he knows nothing, just that the people who own the club make their own decisions and don't have to justify them to anyone.
