Anyone want to be knocked out of cup?

Tue Sep 24, 2013 12:21 pm

How do you feel about the cups this year after a tricky start to Prem life? Anyone want to just have the league to focus on and less games to pick up injuries and suspensions in?

No it will keep our 2nd string of players hungry and prove to Malky that they are good enough to make the 1st team

I'd be happy if we won, as our fringe players need game time to keep them up to speed with the prem

Re: Anyone want to be knocked out of cup?

as others have said, it will give fringe players much needed game time. While also people like cowie, mutch and odemwinge who are very much in and around first team football need minutes too.

But even if malky put a first strength team out i would never want my team to lose a game.

I'd like to see the younger players/reserve players get a chance in the cup. :malky:

Should play the subs and let the players prove and compete with themselves that they should be picked for the premier league games!

When we were in the championship a run in one of the cups, especially this one because of it's timing of the final stages, could and did hurt our league run. This was because we didn't have enough strength in depth, but now we have strength in depth who need game time, so that they remain competitive and ready to step into the team when required. At premier level it is European football that can hurt you, especially clubs like Swansea who have not been in the division very long.

You currently are averaging 1 point per game which is relegation form. In all games bar one you had a mixture of 2,1 or zero shots on target.

Thats a ticky start.

We are currently 16th & have had a tough start to the fixtures.. We've had a number of decent performances, which include beating one of the title contenders.

That's not a tricky start. A look at the premiership table would tell you that others have had a "tricky" start.

Actually 1 point per game is not relegation form. It would have been enough for 17th place end of 2012-2013 season.
Plus I remember that on Saturday there were quite a few teams averaging 1 point per game or less....um....

Anything less than 40 points and its relegation form, if you actually get relegated however depends on how bad apeveryone else has done. But you will be in a dogfight with 38 points.

Thats a tricky start.

So you want to ignore the teams with your so called "relegation form" as of Saturday or does one game change everything?

Im not ignoring them, we are not discussing them. They are also producing relegation form and have had a tricky start to the season, im not entirely sure why this obvious statement is being picked up on

We are talking about your tricky start to the campaign however, which sees you on course for 38 points and with only one win so far... while barely regestering attacks, averaging 2 shots on target per game (which is distorted by 50% by one solitary game).

38 points has seen a team either relegated or in a dog fight IN EVERY SINGLE SEASON. Its a tricky start, especially when you consider you are the 5th highest spenders in the league. You have spent similar in one summer than we did in our whole 3 seasons here.

75% of the league has had a better start and you are in the bottom 5.
