A forum for all things Cardiff City

Just been chatting about Jay Bothroyd to a mate and we were discussing whether Bothroyd could be a good signing for us.
I know some like him and some think he is too lazy, so I am going to pose a question.
Jay Bothroyd or Rudy Gestede?
Which would you have in the Premier League for City.
Gestede works hard and Bothroyd has the quality.
Bothroyd every time for me.

Bothroyd every day of the week.

Gestede has a totally different mindset than Bothroyd .
Personally I don't think he would fit in with the current team and certainly would not pass the attitude test.

. Carl I took the piss out if j on Facebook yesterday to my surprise he messaged me ,he's gutted that he left us said he should of stayed and he made the wrong choice got the feeling he wants another chance ,I think he would do a job off the bench
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:21 pm
Bothroyd.
Think he could be back to his best if he came back.
Malky could maybe, and it's a big maybe, get him to work hard.
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:22 pm
Gestede for me. He is younger, more hungry and has a better attitude. Jay Bothroyd may have been a quality player for us but he doesn't have that quality he once had anymore.
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:22 pm
Jay wouldnt fit in.
Rudy is a donkey.
So i will go with Joe Mason!
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:23 pm
bothroyd over gestede 100%
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:24 pm
Rudy for me. As talented as Bothroyd was he just doesnt have the mentality to cut it at this level or peform for us. I'd rather had Rudy who will give 110% every match then bothroyd coming on and doing f**k all. People can slag off Rudy as much as they like but he will chip more than his fair share this season into keeping us up.
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:28 pm
Jay Bothroyd 100%, 10 times better than Rudy
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:39 pm
By the way, it's not the real Jay Bothroyd on Facebook
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:43 pm
The fact that hes sat on his backside at home says it all about the man,. Surely he should be busting his arse trying to find a club
class player when he wanted to be though
Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:54 pm
Bothroyd every time.
Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:41 pm
Bothroyd if he could show the form he showed early on in the season we got to the Play Off Final very talented but could be very lazy could Malky sort him out???
Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:45 pm
Jay Bothroyd is a class act, but the England cap went to his head. He played the best football of his career here, Dave Jones knew how to get the best out of him. But after the England cap, what has he ever done since? Such a waste
Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:47 pm
Pissin myself laughing at "The cap went to his head" you are so right though.

Gestede
Bothroyd had his chance and Malky sees something in Rudy

Some common sense finally. Rudy is better than Bothroyd by far. Thats why one plays for a Premier League team with ambition and the other is sat at his home and not being signed by one. Bothroyd unfortunately is Championship level at best and always was. He was a terrible signing for QPR and people seriously overestimate his abilities because he could turn it on now and then. He lacked two of the most important things in football, consistency and a hardworking attitude. The hype over Bothroyd is bewildering. We've gone from a nearly club with nearly players to a can do club with can do players. Its time people woke up.

The question was Bothroyd or Gestede. There isn't any hype over Bothroyd, everyone knows he's shit as well, but any football fan with some common sense would know that Bothroyd is better than Gestede.
Bothroyd may be Championship at best, but Gestede is League One at best.

No shit. I quite clearly stated Gestede in agreement with the other poster. I suggest you lay off the WKD and learn to read.
There isn't any hype over Bothroyd
Plenty of our fan base has been creaming over Bothroyd for ages. Its sad and pathetic. Hes not even good enough to get in our team now as he doesn't push up hard enough or work hard enough so our midfield would be under constant pressure.
but any football fan with some common sense would know that Bothroyd is better than Gestede.
Not at all. Bothroyd plays when it suits him and he doesn't work hard. If you want a part timer then Bothroyd's your man. If you want someone committed to the cause then its Gestede. Gestede scored an important goal vs Leicester in taking us up, Bothroyd bitched out when it mattered.
Bothroyd may be Championship at best, but Gestede is League One at best.
Bothroyd - may as well sign on
Gestede - playing in the Premier League
Tells its own story.

Just because Rudy is playing for a Premier League team, it doesn't mean he's automatically good enough for the Premier League. By your logic, you must think that Bothroyd was a Premier League standard player a year ago. Simon Moore signed for us from a League One side, does that make him good enough for the Premier League? Not yet. Does that make him better than say Kasper Schmeichel? No.
There was hype over Bothroyd in the past. Not anymore. I haven't seen anyone "hyping" over him. Hence why I was reminding you that the question was Bothroyd or Rudy, everyone knows they're both shit.
Calm your man tits, Barnett.

I have such a distaste toward Bothroyd's personality it's unbelievable, but honestly feel like with the right manager (Malky) theres's not much of a ceileing to his talent.
I like Rudy and his attitude and believe his quality is underrated, but Bothroyd on his day could be a leading man for anybody outside top 4. He just needs to f'ing revolutionise his attitude.

There is a ceiling to Bothroyd's talent, it's called Bothroyd. The reason he is such a terrible player is because of his work rate and dedication. If any member of this forum went into work and showed such an attitude they'd either be facing the sack sooner rather than later or their business would start struggling. His laziness is on another level. He floats about and Velikonja at times reminded me of him so its not surprising why Malky hasn't bothered giving him a shot in the team.
Within 10 minutes of a game you can tell whether Bothroyd is going to be up for it or not. He's either having one of his days where he links up well or he's falling over and crying to the referee. Sorry but the types like Bothroyd take you down. Ask QPR how it went with him and Taarabt in the team and the rest of Lazy Pay Cheque Takers FC. Yet the likes of Norwich and Southampton with hard battlers have stayed up through pure grit and tenacity.
