A GENUINE QUESTION FOR ROATHIE

Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:10 am

Aimed at Roathie, but at others who are considered possibly as trolls.

If Roathie is a Swansea fan, and does it matter, I can see why he may want to wind people up on here, but in general what is it about trolling under alias's that some find appealing?

I am genuinely intrigued. Is it the confusion that does it, is it the involvement? is it the anonymity that appeals, really puzzles me, and I'm not being sarcastic, just genuinely can't understand it.

There are loads of sites, message boards etc on thousands of topics, surely there must be something out there for everyone to keep them interested and occupied.
I would love to read some psychological analysis of what it is about this type of trolling, which let's be honest is usually quite harmless compared to some you read about.

can we please try and keep this debate sensible if possible, I really would like some honesty and cards on the table, Not trying to get people to stop doing whatever it is they do, if they enjoy it, then as long as no one is harmed, then who cares, just want to understand it a little more. :old:

Hi gwyn. I genuinely dont think i am a troll. Im more than happy to post under my name but the mods ban me so that is the only reason i use aliases. I always give my opinion and mine only and like to think i put them across well. I, pretty sure you would struggle to find one post that can be described as trolling from me - genuinely.

Still to this day do not understand why im banned all the time.

Psychologys answer to trolling and online abuse article .

Psychology may hold a big piece of the puzzle. Nearly 10 years ago, the American psychologist John Suler argued that online environments unleash aspects of our personality that we normally keep under guard – a phenomenon he referred to as the online disinhibition effect.

Suler's basic idea was that by masking their identities, abusers not only avoid accountability for their behaviour but also dissociate their online selves from their real-world selves. In real life, aggressive behaviour triggers an immediate reaction from a victim – a change in facial expression, tone of voice, body language, perhaps even violence. But in the online world these deterrents are missing or delayed, which helps abusers see their victims as faceless, imaginary cutouts who have no feelings and are unworthy of empathy.

you derail every single thread you participate in and contribute absolute zero to any footballing threads.

Theres been some good multiple / parody / alias accounts whatever you want to call them,

Bluebird since 1948 (Whoever that maybe)
Sid the malaysian City supporter (Daya I think) was a classic also.

Ive had 4 names on this board but everyone knew they were me, I set 2 of them up after getting banned, and one of them, this one, for a laugh as Balotelli was public enemy no1 in the media at the time, and I was getting a lot of warnings off the moderators.

I have no idea who you are talking about. None of my posts have said im not him.

And i beg to differ, i think i contribute excellently to football threads.

Thats not strictly true, you started posting on here as Roath Magic, a Cardiff fan, before posting as yourself, hence the nickname "Roathie".

Nope, i started here as a Swansea fan and was banned because I laughed at Carl. Since then i created canton magic and the theme stuck.

Since - i have said im happy to post as myself as long as i get a fair deal. I keep getting banned so i create other accounts just like you said you did.

I dont think suggesting Valencuia are good value with one account, and then saying you fancied the draw with another account is exactly contributing excellently to football threads.

Neither does it endorse your claim that you are consistent with your views regardless of the name you use.

I give you my word he was not me.

Ask the mods to check IP's. all mine will say queensland australia.

ALL my views posted are my own, i think valencia will win tonight and 4/5 is big imo.

By the way my IP will say Telstra service provider too so it shows its not a proxy.

The other guy i assume has been banned for nothing. If the mods wanted to know who i am all they have to do is check my ip address. I very rarely use a proxy as generally i cant be bothered, slows my ipad down. Its quicker to get banned and create another account believe ot or not

He's an obsessive, fusing this with an inability to talk softly with diplomacy when needed , i'd say he was a high functioning autistic. That's why i kept advocating he be given another chance. Unfortunately he can't behave any other way. It's all very weird and quite sad which is why i understand Annis giving him chances.

I think its just my nature. If i did something wrong id accept it and not think twice about not posting again. however, Its the reason i get banned that makes me come back, its because people doesnt want me to share my opinion even though me not actually doing anything wrong.

Just dont understand why im not allowed to give my opinions.

:laughing6: this again, surely you realise this doesnt wind me up right?

You displayed all the traits you accuse me of on the thread about gay footballers, i believe you are still trying to get the last word while avoiding what others are saying.

I debate well and fairly and am never overly abusive, only in clear jest in theme with the thread. But im not interested in entering another debate with you as you are unwilling to do it wothout getting personal and trying to get offensive, it ruins threads and the forum... And of course i then get the blame

I think Roathie is both the pseudonyms here and Real_Blue_Really

Real_Blue_Really is far too familiar with the way he uses this messageboard and all these other usernames screaming 'Im Roathie' is just being used to deflect from it.

Even to the point where he is talking to himself

good tactic

Fully prepared to be proofed wrong though

Re: A GENUINE QUESTION FOR ROATHIE

As ive said before the only reason im not liked on here is because i make good points which causes an aggressive reaction which i dont rise to, people get frustrated at that. And i think its as simple as that.

There is not one thread i can think of that could cause a justifiable reaction like the feelings towards me as a poster. And funnily enough when asked, neither can anyone else.

I wind people up, but for all the right reasons. I make my point, make it well and dont lower myself to insults. It annoys people.

Nah im not him. Hes a very similar poster though, however he is far more aggressive and likes to provoke far more than me. He sees me as a challenge being a similar poster and tries to get under my skin, he cant so it frustrates him to the point he seeks me out whenever im online and even when im not (apparently he made a postcard for me?).

I like him though, disagree with his views but cant dislike someone so similar.
