Platoon!!!

That's my favourite, Top sound track but could do with being 2 hours longer with The Doors played.
Favourite Character in that film is the well meaning, straight laced, trigger happy youngster who seems to get stronger amongst all the death and destruction, while all the 'cooler' older men slowly disintergrate into dribbling wrecks.
Here are some of his quotes.
What are they doing over there? They're gettin' high, that's what. They think they're something special.
[After Taylor realizes he can't shoot a disabled Vietnamese villager] Fuckin' pussy, man. He's laughing at you. Thats the way the gook laughs. I bet you're crying your little heart out ain't you? About Sandy and Sal and Manny. (Smashes head to bits with butt of the rifle)
Holy shit, d'you see that fuckin' head come apart, man?
Ain't nothin' like a piece of pussy... except maybe the Indy 500.
Hey Junior, don't worry. You got Audie Murphy in your foxhole, man.

My top 6 best ever films and reasons:-
(1) - THE ROBE (1953)(Richard Burton's finest acting role as "Marcellus Gallio" a Roman tribune at Christs Crucifiction. Great onscreen chemistry with Jean Simmons)
(2) - ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST (1975)(A fantastic film I never get tired of watching - tragic, funny, emotional, true to life in a mental institution at that time - Jack Nicholson is superb and won best actor oscar)
(3) - DEAD POETS SOCIETY (1989)( I found this film very deep and thought provoking. Robin Williams in superb form in a drama about a English literature teacher who does not conform to the rules and teaches boys about love of poetry, love of life and to have an open mind.)
(4) - STAR WARS (the original 1977 film before it became "A new hope")(I was 16 when this came to the big screen Cinema and was just blown away with its originality at the time - music, battle scenes, and 1977 animation!!! WOW.)
(5) - LOVE STORY (1970)(A young Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw in a Romantic Drama - Guaranteed a "tear in the eye" - classic story of love , life and death.)
(6) - SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL (1989)(The most hilarious comedy film I have seen to date. Gene Wilder plays a deaf man and Richard Pryor plays a blind man, these two are very funny together - you have to watch it to admire how clever the slapstick and one liners are)
Those of the 40,s, 50's, 60's, 70's age group will have probably seen these but I recommend the younger generation to give them a try, you may surprise yourself by these old timers films !!!
