' Police investigate assault on 50-year-old and his two sons after Cardiff City match '

Police officers are investigating after a man and his three sons were assaulted on their way home from a Cardiff City match

Officers are investigating after a 50-year-old man and his two sons, aged 20 and 17, were assaulted on their way back from a game at Cardiff City stadium.

The trio had been out watching Cardiff City v Everton when they were assaulted at the junction of Clare Road and Cornwall Strreet in Grangetown, near the Neville pub.

The assault occurred at around 5.15pm on Saturday, August 31 when the victims were on their way to the railway station.

Detective Inspector Simon Maal of Cardiff West CID said: "The family are understandably shaken and upset by what happened.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out since the matter was brought to our attention but unfortunately we have not yet identified those responsible.

“There were a lot of people outside the pub that day and no doubt some will have been appalled by this unprovoked assault.

Sorry? What do you mean 'NOT DO THE OB JOB FOR THEM' they were a family for f**k sake, not like minded thugs who want a tear up.

I've never ever attacked dads- Mums with kids whether they was 7 or 15, it's a no no. These fucks should be reported.

Yes I'm a grass if thats what you want to call ne, I'd report anyone who attacks familys but saying that I'd get stuck into the so called hard men first and see how f*cking hard they are tackling me who is afraid of no one. Want to stab me then fine but you best kill me as If I get the blade I'll shove it into your eyes then your brain.

Leave kids and fathers and mums out of it, I'm not hard but won't back down either.

50 is not that old in football violence terms. Millwall arrested at Hull FA cup a few years back in their 50s and when Chelsea played Spurs in carling cup final few years ago there was a huge row in parsons green, with some stabbings and most arrested were 40s and early 50s.

Maybe they called it on. Who knows. Reports of Everton being very gobby that day. Its not like they were a family of young children.

Only going by what I've read. Forget Spurs, Chelsea, Millall etc as that'll happen all the time. You'll have 80,90 old OAP's rucking in the streets with them lot.

50 isn't old as we're nearing that age but how about kids these days, the thug days are over unless you meet in some none CCTV street

Do you want to take your children to a match and get battered in front of your children?

All I know is The Neville is Cardiffs main pub and I wouldnt have them down as the kind of lads who would attack normals.

Wasnt there, same as you, so neither of us know what actually happened.

What I do know is Everton will be out for revenge and any Cardiff, normals included, need to be wary when we travel there.

Read it and re-read it and says two sons. How would you like it getting set upon by thugs? Ok his sons were 20 -17 but what right thinking father would give it the ' COME ON THEN, LET HAVE IT CHANT'' with those kids. I wouldn't, would you?

So you're saying any bloke who looks 50 and has two teenage sons are game?

What year are we in?

As we walked past the Neville after the game, 3 Cardiff lads approached us and asked if we were Everton fans & tried to look intimidating. Pathetic really & need to grow up.

We told them to grow up and walked through. :malky:

I really cannot fathom how dull you have to be to go looking to fight opposition over a game of bloody football. Banter and jeering songs is great and good fun, but that sort of stuff is really stupid.

They were heading to the train station and there has been other threads nearer the time saying Everton were attacked en route to the station.

Most boring argument of all time that is. At the end of the day nobody knows what happened, not even the police to 100% hence them asking for help. Its as simple as that really. I hope they catch whoever is responsible, not because its related to football, but because assaulting people in general is wrong.
