Defender becomes sixth signing of summer for Bluebirds


URUGUAYAN Under-20 international defender Maximiliano Amondarain tonight became Cardiff City’s latest signing.

The 20 year-old central defender impressed during a trial period earlier in the summer and now links up with Malky Mackay's squad from CA Progreso, a club in Montevideo.

Maxi was part of the Uruguayan U20 squad that finished runners-up to France in July's 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup.

A strong, ball-playing centre-half, he passed a medical today prior to signing a four year deal.

He becomes the sixth summer signing for the Bluebirds, who are still thought to be eyeing one more top signing before Monday's transfer deadline.

Excellent news, been reading the forum 24/7 for weeks in the hope of some signings. As soon as I spend a few hours away then BAM another out of the blue with no rumours or anything, excellent stuff

Is he one for the future or likely to be in the match day squad? I'm guessing its the development team for him

He won't feature much this season unless there are big injuries.
