Syria

Christ all kicking off out there. Just watching the news now and everyone looks like Freddie crouger after that chemical bomb got dropped. No doubt now David will send a few of our troops out there to fight when there no need for us to get involved

UK and Syria

Thu Aug 29, 2013 9:22 pm

Do you think we should be involved. The usual parties will say this is a football forum don't care, okay read another thread.

I served in the forces for 22 years, 1st, 2nd Gulf war, but this seems a lot worse, from a humanitarian POV.

Should we ignore the atrocities that are happening, or should we give this dictator a slap?

There are some chaps on here who have opinion on politics, what do you think?

Personally I think we should get in there, !!!!!!

I think Carlyle Group's share price correlates well with the prospects for war.

I think there'smore justification to go into Syria than it ever was with Iraq and Afghanistan at the time

But who are the bad guys, the government or the opposition? I read that Al-Qaeda have infiltrated Syrian opposition groups. :(

Re: UK and Syria

I say let then be, why should more of our soilders die fighting someone's else's war! Iraq and Afghanistan was all about drugs and oil, why else would our military been guarding the fields, it's all Bollux.
Money is power so anything which gives a substantial income will be protected.

Even after 35 years after the gas attacks on Vietnam when the Americans pulled out I was absolutely horrified at what these weapons can do for generations to come. They are even using Naplam not FFS!!!!!

That is not good, I have strong views on the middle east after spending much of my military career out there.

THIS is a situation the UN need to resolve and very quickly

spot on America seem convinced with the fact that it has to be the Government. Wheres the proof?

there is a civil war going on atmo both sides have access to weaponry and its not hard to make chemical weapons

before we jump to conclusions let the weapons inspectors do their job, find out whether the chemical weapons are military grade or not and that will more than likely give you the answer as to who used them government or rebels.

also I find the interest America has who carries the largest chemical weapons arsenal in the world to condemn anyone else for owning chemical weapons.

also is attacking a war stricken country really going to make a difference also this time if the UN says no we should not go, why do we expect countries to respect the UN when we dont.

We can't sort out our own country! We have feral youth, drug problems and god knows how many illegal immigrants. Once our own house is in order we can perhaps help get other houses in order.

This wiki article shows that the Syrian Crisis is far from being a case of good versus evil - for instance look at the list of belligerents.

Oil share prices are rising fast, as too are gold prices. Airline shares are falling.

Someone somewhere is going to make a shed load of money. Haven't heard much out of Goldman Sachs recently.

There is no justification for this war, just because USA don't like President Assad, it is no excuse to attack Syria. The conflict in Syria is an internal problem, and by USA supporting the opposition, which is made up of Islamic terrorist groups who are already against the West. For them they see it as a holy war against President Assad.

We don't know which sides have been using chemical weapons, its all propaganda. Why should we risk our troops, just to suit USA's foreign policy. When the UN found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the war was still never justified and why should British troops risk their lives again.

Its okay to ignore the crimes of what Israel are doing in the West Bank and Gaza; because they're American allies. But when it comes to civilians getting killed in Syria, the USA are up in arms and want to bomb the country.

Even if we provide weapons to the opposition, one day they'll be used on us. I hope President Assad does win the war, because the Syrian rebels are terrorists who need to be stopped.

Yes, we have all of that, but we don't have people being slaughtered on our streets in big numbers.

This may not affect us directly, but as a human being I don't think this is acceptable or should be allowed to continue, do you?
