Think he might be about to do a Hudson ....
No one rated Hudson when he first joined us but he eventually became a rock and fans favourite ....ruddy been called shit and a donkey and useless and not good enough ....but IMO he's going in the right direction ..has obviously been working hard in training and is improving every time he' plays ...last night when he came on he was excellent ..his movement was good his reading of the game good kept coming back and offering an out for our midfield his link play and first touch was also excellent and took his goal well ..I think the coaching he's getting now is showing great potential I know he's not a boy at 24 years old but strikers seam to be at there peak around the age of 27/28 years old ..so if he keeps on improving at the rate he's doing now ..we will have a bloody good player on our books ..im sure the usual suspects will dis agree with me but its my opinion and I'm sticking to it

not good enough for me. Never shown himself to be good enough either.
Surely he would have been expected to play well last night, we were playing the team bottom of League 2 FFS.

I agree with you Steve.

I agree he's going in the right direction, but we're not in the championship anymore and he won't get in our team much atall, but I will say he's a good personality to have in the squad you can tell he enjoys being here regardless of game time

He's shit time to move him on, no point keeping him cause he's a good laugh at training sessions. My ten yr old newphew could of scored against Stanley.

I personally tend to agree with you but I still think he has something to offer the squad.
I hope he sticks around though & proves us all wrong.

I agree, always thought he had the potential just was a bit raw. Honestly think hell come good soon enough

Radio Wales(not exactly good pundits) were saying Cornelius could learn from GESTEDE
Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:33 pm
Quite simply he our second beat big man stricker so unless we buy another one he's gunna play a role this season. Will replace Cornelius on the bench for everton. Might get some game time.
Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:44 pm
He keeps getting better. I think we'll see more of him than many expect this season - as an impact sub or in place of an injured Cornelius. I hope he succeeds with us - great story if he does.
Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:57 pm
He used to be something and nothing for me, but he popped up with a couple of decent goals last season and is good in the air - he's a tidy enough replacement for the injured Corner for now...

Gestede is world class. I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Thu Aug 29, 2013 1:03 pm
I think Darren Campbell has helped him achieve in making him better. Rudy has more pace when he first came here but would often get injured because of his technique for jumping for the ball and sprinting but now he's a more smarter player. No he's probably not good enough for the Premier League but he's getting to a required quality that we can call upon

I'm not a huge fan of Rudy, but when it comes to big men their best years are 27-31. Look at Drogba, he was written off by many when he started but then turned into one of the best strikers in the premiership's history.
Did I just compare Rudy to Drogba? God, I think I need to go lie down. But you get my point - he'll improve. Will he improve enough to cut it in the prem? Probably not. But he's on a pittance of a wage so might as well keep him around. It's hardly a costly roll of the dice.

I was there last night and I must say, Rudy looked a much better player than Cornelius. Some would be worried by that comment, but I like to think it shows the excellent progress Rudy is making. Rudy is much better in the air than Cornelius and currently, seems to give defenders a tougher time. I fear Cornelius despite being tall, still has a lot to learn and needs to bulk up further and use his size to hold defenders off to win headers and link the play.
Cornelius is better than Rudy on the deck when they are both in possession, but from the little I've seen, Cornelius is getting a little bit bullied by stronger, more experienced defenders, which is surprising considering his size. Cornelius is still young and adapting, but I honestly think Rudy has started this season off more impressively, that's no joke. Of course, I will give Cornelius plenty of time to adjust as he has been unlucky with injuries since joining us and he probably wasn't fully fit last night.

Then we wasted 8million quid on him

The Accrington fans were chanting "what a waste of money" to be fair. To which we replied "he cost more than your club"

You need to stop taking those pills, "world class"

Well Barry chuckle in that case so was cornel ious expected to play well but he didn't ....think as I stated he will do a Hudson ...lots on here now agreeing he's improving all the time ....you obviously didn't see the game last night ..or you've already made up your mind and won't/can't b e seen to change .....how about recognising as lots on here have said he is improving ,,you can not just keep saying he's shit or not good enough with out backing it up ...what I said about his game yesterday is fact not fiction ...glad Malkys opinion is opposite to yours and I prefer to agree with his as that s what counts not yours
Thu Aug 29, 2013 2:27 pm
He's a donkey, no where near Premier League standard
Thu Aug 29, 2013 2:44 pm
Jon I think your better than that statement

you've obviously caught chuckleitus
Thu Aug 29, 2013 2:46 pm
im not a big fan of ruddy but I must admit he is getting better, still not up to it in the prem but fairplay he has got the right attitude and does work hard and maybe eti velikonja could take a leaf out of ruddys book

many others posting opinions, yet you've jumped on mine... What a surprise.
No, I didn't see the game last night, but I hardly think a good performance against the team that's 92nd out of 92 clubs in the league ladder suddenly warrants him to good enough.
I'd expect Rudy to have a good game. Yes, he's improved since he came here (impossible to get any worse tbh!) but that still doesn't mean that he's good enough for our team. He's League 1 at best.
There are lots on here that also agree with me. I'm glad you agree with Malky's decision, because its clear to me that he's "last resort" to Malky and clearly so.. Remember when he hauled him off at half time as he was so shit in his only start last season?
The guy is a donkey and is not premiership standard. If he ever becomes a regular starter in this team, it will be because we've dropped levels, not him improving levels.

Nobody is allowed to criticise Rudy, yet troobloo slagged off whittingham last year...

I've always said that since he signed for us, I don't think any different other than he's improved very slightly

Why are we not allowed to say Gestede is not good enough, yet you're quite happy to post this?
troobloo3339 wrote: whitts knows he wont be first choice in the premier where he will be out of his comfort zone of the championship
I thought Whitts looked very good in the premier games we've played so far.

It doesn't really matter what we all think of Rudy, it's what Malky thinks of him that counts
Thu Aug 29, 2013 4:08 pm
Rudy is a good player, id love for him to be good enough for us but I think the championship is his level
Thu Aug 29, 2013 4:32 pm
When I saw Gestede play his first few games for us I could see nothing about him that suggested he'd be anywhere near a Championship-standard player. However, towards the back-end of last season, he put in a number of decent displays from the subs bench and changed the flow of the games in our favour. He had definitely improved.
At West Ham, he again made a positive impact from the bench and played a part in two of our best chances of the game. He Hammer's defence had been very comfortable until his introduction but he caused them some problems after coming on.
Will he cut the mustard? I doubt it but I'm far more optimistic than I was a year ago.....
