And some claimed Bakary Sako had a better delivery than Whittingham

Re: PETER WHITTINGHAM HE DOES WHAT HE WANTS

I said Whitts would make the step up easy. If that useless cretin Adam can make the step up with Blackpool then Whitts would do it with no problem at all. Whitts is on another level and is even better this season at hustling and bustling players. Hes upped his game and he was already good enough to begin with.

The signing of Medel will allow Whittingham to have the most creative freedom he's ever had before, Medel covers the whole midfield, plays just in front of the defenders but brilliant attacking as well, I can't see why Whittingham can't make the step-up, his vision is second to none, his delivery on set pieces is a pleasure to watch

Spot on.

Whitts set piece delivery is frightening.

That 2nd goal well Whitts might as well scored it himself. Perfect cross it was unmissable.

Still winds me up though people writing off Whitts when he is a legend here no matter what anyone says. He stuck by us when other offers come in and took us up, scored important goals in important games in the playoffs and so on. He's done his bit and he's more than capable of stepping up. Our own fans should know that more than most.

Regarding Sako and Whitts, it's hard to choose, an average player in a poor team which are now playing in the third division of English football or a player who was consistently up for awards such as POTY or placed in Team of the Year, linked with a host of established Premier League sides, whose your money gonna be on? even in the 11/12 season, he was one of our top goalscorers, we were incredibly reliant on him in previous seasons but now the weights off his shoulders have been lifted, he knows that there's a team plan, the fact he consistently played for about 102? league games in a row says something about his ability and the fact we have quality to call upon when he isn't fit or a rest is needed shows how well the team has developed!

It's brilliant how accurate he can strike a ball in, his long range forward passing is a joy to behold as well, an example being Leeds home in 11/12 to set up Mason, never seen such a beautiful played pass, UNTIL we played Bilbao the other week, where he accurately passed it with ease!

The second goal was brilliant, the way it was lofted in, he was unlucky not to score himself with that free kick

Hes laid back and does things with such ease that uneducated fans think hes lazy.

People around me whinging he didnt hit the box before a simple ball to Kim helped set up the first goal.

One tw*t even called him a "rapist" how I bit my tongue I dont know.

He was lucky the Strongbow was week as piss :old:

This. He's the Berbatov of midfielders. Great technique and doesn't need to rush about like a headless chicken because his vision, reading of the game and technique is on another level. His footballing intelligence is amazing and some take it for granted.

Looks like the Sky Pundits agree with you Polo giving Whitts a 9.

I'm with you Whitts is a class act and yesterday he, like all of our players, put in a real shift. But what a corner pure pure PL class.

Championship standard my arse.

Whitts played like this at the start of last season but faded away.

I am hoping the premier will suit him a lot more and we see a full season of his potential.

I had my doubts about him playing out wide but he was outstanding yesterday didnt stop running and that delivery for the goal :ayatollah:

To be fair to Whitts we can look after him a bit better this season-more quality less quantity should see him more consistent this season.

He was the one player who I thought had a fair game at WH - he looked busy.

There needs to be more to whittingham's game than just dead ball situations,as fans we need to see him get more involved in the game, for my mind he goes missing to much in a course of a game,we need to see him set up more chances for his team mates,we also need to see him getting into more goal scoring opportunities, when i see him play,i just get the feeling he has lost some of his confidence and self belief.......... just my opinion of course

With Gunnar and Medel Whitts is aloud to play further up the pitch, playing deep just wasn't his natural habitat last year

He's definitely showing he can mix it with the best. I love that man :ayatollah:

I THINK YOU SHOULD STUDY THE TAPE, HE LET THE MENTAL FRAILTIES SHOW AFTER MAN CITY'S EQUALISER, FOR 15 MINUTES HE COULDN'T GET THE BALL FROM UNDER HIS OWN FEET TO MAKE A 5 YARD PASS, AND NEARLY CONCEDED ON THE D BY DRIBBLING THE BALL TOWARDS HIS OWN goal. THE MAN WAS CLASS ON DEAD BALLS BUT HE SUFFERS MENTAL SHUTDOWNS WHEN UNDER SUSTAINED PRESSURE.

Took one for the team all last season, played out of position as he was the only player capable of receiving the ball under pressure and pass it to a team mate. Now we have Gary Medel, who obviously is better than him at that position so Whitts can be pushed further forward.

Kimbo lost the ball a few times, so did Medel its called taking responsibility. For some of our fans Whitts gets a lot more attention, its a shame, we always do it with home grown lads. Perhaps he is now Cardiffian by residency ?

Players lose he ball, but Whits lost his mind, go back and study the tape for the 15 minutes after man city's goal. He was very lucky not to lose us the game with that dribble into his own area.He had options all around him but behaved like frank spencer. i'm not sure if he took the blame for zeckos goal but it mentally affected him in a way that isn't natural.

The guy has found his natural level. Even better without the weight of the world on his shoulders as the lynch pin for the team.

He has always been a very good player for us, I've never understood the stick he gets.
I think the deeper role he played for us in cm under MM has helped him developed for this season.
