I honestly really feel for Malky he is still trying to strengthen our squad 24/7 and is getting set backs on a daily basics.
He has the money, he shows them the passion , what has he got to do to persuade them to come to us?
I know Malky won't give up,but he will end up with players lower down on his list.
Later on in the season when the transfer window is closed, you will all end up hearing about Malky's frustration at trying to attract only the best to Cardiff, so no matter what happens this season please don't blame him.
Also I know that Tan was stunned at West Ham away at how we were beaten and was not a happy chap.
He has very little patience regarding loosing.
Remember give Malky your full support no matter what happens this season.

If Tan was "stunned" that we lost. He needs to wake up. Now.

Karl, he honestly was as he does not understand the game yet.

He wasn't the only one left stunned by our performance on Saturday Annis

I totally agree it wasn't good enough and most of our team/squad are Championship level, but Tan does not still understand the game and this I not a pick at Tan, it's a genuine statement.

After reading your post,i'm reminded of that old Four Tops record...."Its the same old song"......as for Tans lack of patience, i must admit if i had invested the millions he has,i would be expecting a quick return as well....Mackay has to learn that he is playing in the big boys playground now,and its all about pressure and Mackay will have to deal with it

I agree, I said on another thread ide wana keep Malky at CSS even if we go down, he has a lot to learn, but a lot to offer too, we need some kind of tactitian along side him though to analyse a new way of
Playing as hoof ball will not do in the PL

It was always going to be difficult in our first season and the opening fixtures don't help . I'm guessing the league table will NOT be kind to us come the transfer deadline . Any players who had doubts will only need to look at our position in the table and say no thanks.
Malky may need to lower his expectations on transfers and start looking to fish in other ponds.

Sorry Anis but I can't agree with you.
Malky is ultimately responsible for all team issues and performances.
The butt stops with him.
The lack of attempts on goal verses West Ham was very poor. In fact lets be blunt, it was shit. Yes they are decent at home, but The Hammers are far from being a top Prem Team. We need to be picking up points against these teams to stand any chance of staying in this league. I can take defeat. I'm fully aware we'll lose more than we'll win. If we've given it a good go and were unlucky and beaten then fine I'll accept that. However the lack of pressure we put them under was simply not good enough. Dare I say only when Rudy came on did we cause them any bother. No pace. No width. No understanding in the midfield and a defence that can only hoof it 50 yards and give possession away.
Tan is right to be concerned.
Too many performances like that and all the fist pumps in the World won't save him.

Knock backs & New players aside, if Malky carries on with the hoof ball from back tactics as well as playing players out of position, not fully fit players and no creative flair/wingers on bench - he'll only have himself to blame IMO

I really admire MM for the type of player he has been trying to bring into the club and I don't think we have seen the last of new signings. We haven't as yet signed any loan players and as many of these type of deals are done late in the transfer window I'm not that worried to be honest.
On the last day of the transfer window in 2012 there were 105 transfers completed and I expect something similar this season. MM may well be facing players who are biding thier time looking to see who puts offers in for them, like this Sissoko, and it could well be that we may get this player at the 11th hour. That I'm afraid is the way of things in the PL and like MM we need to be patient.
When you consider Man Utd & Arsenal have so far only signed one player each, Newcastle & Stoke only two each, Chelsea & Southampton 3 each and Man City, Everton & Spurs 4 each it shows there hasn't really been a lot of activity as yet.
That will change in the next 10 days and hopefully the problems MM is facing will ease somewhat as players scramble to get contracts.
Thu Aug 22, 2013 9:59 am
Sorry it is Malky who has to bring in the players If he isnt experienced enough or has not got enough contacts at the right level then he should not be there
Thu Aug 22, 2013 9:59 am
West Ham wasn't as bad as everyone made out, we didn't have the chances at goal we needed and we gave away possession way to easily. but we dominated possession on the day away from home, its just a matter of converting that possession into chances and tightening up at the back a little, there was no way that Joe Cole should have been able to turn and not a chance that Kevin Nolan should have been left in that much space but they are all things to be worked on and as the first game in the premier league it was a tough learning curve for a lot of players but not something we can't sort out.
we will be fine this season. im not worried at all.

We may believe that Cardiff is the most wonderful place in the world, but others have different views.
One thing that we cannot change is our location. The two power centres in the Premier League are London (Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Fulham, West Ham, Crystal Palace) and the Lancashire area (Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton). If we were within one of these areas it would be easier to attract players as they can move clubs without moving home, are able to mix with players from other clubs and experience a much larger social scene. Cardiff has many virtues but its distance from these places is a problem.
The other challenge is that as with all newly promoted or struggling teams, many players prefer to play for a club that is at least mid table and preferably close to the top.
For these reasons I can understand the Tom Ince decision even if I do not agree with it. He is in Blackpool with a new baby, the potential family stress of him either spending part of the week in Blackpool and part in Cardiff or moving his family to Cardiff is considerable. Add that to the realistic possibility that we will be relegated and it is relatively easy for him to reject us as he could have ended up with a relegated club a long way from his extended family. If clubs such as Wigan, Blackburn or Bolton had not been relegated in the last couple of years he would have considered them more favourably.
We do need to recognise that for many players Cardiff would be viewed as a stepping stone and they would prefer one closer to the centres of power. This might be one reason for signing the best players from the Championship as they would see City as a step up.

If Tan was stunned at that performance we may as well just accept relegation now. Most clubs struggle initially even if they stay up.

Excellent post.
I agree and when you think back 12 months we were awful against Huddersfield and only nicked a win in the 93rd minute but everything turned out OK in the end. West Ham are a tidy PL side with a brilliant home record. We are still finding our feet and bedding in the new signings will take time.
Steven Caulker and Ben Turner will form a great Centre-Back partnership eventually and Gary Medel will leave his mark on every game we play

.
MM has done brilliantly with his signings so far and I'm betting Andreas Cornelius will prove to be the best of lot. Our manager is doing the right thing.
Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:16 pm
An Owner with ambition, how can that be a bad thing?Malky is'nt stupid he knows it's a results business, and the next natural step for the football club maybe to get a foreign manager,in saying that i truly hope Malky makes a success of it and remains our manager for a very long time.
Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:26 pm
Stewart downing for 5 mil would of been a great addition, i also think huddleston looked good when he came on against chelsea the other day. prem experience which could of proven vital
Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:33 pm
I also am impressed with how high Malky has set his targets but i fear it may bit us in the arse as the likes of Huddlestone, Downing and Sinclair get snapped up we will be left with Premier league drop outs rather than Prem mediocre players.

If Tan was seriously stunned we lost away to West Ham who are a team that beat Man Utd and Chelsea at home last season and have strengthened further this season, Malky has no hope!
Thu Aug 22, 2013 1:27 pm
I was stunned by the west ham game. Didn't have a shot against an average prem team. I can't blame VT at all at being worried after the money he put into this club. Although I believe it was just a poor showing for us and tactically wrong that game but I'd personally be worried if it was my money
Thu Aug 22, 2013 1:33 pm
Montero, Lennon turned us down???
Who else apart from the obvious, Ince, Capoue etc....
Thu Aug 22, 2013 1:35 pm
We need atleast 3 or 4 players.
Thu Aug 22, 2013 1:36 pm
We cant be judged on one game however we do need to strengthen. Problem is most of the established clubs buy 2 or 3 players a season so after a few years their squad is quite strong.
