MacNaughton and Cowie

Wed Aug 21, 2013 9:56 am

Do we need Kev's pace at the back on Sunday, and Cowie in the centre?? Somehow i think we need strong runners on Sunday as, we may be chasing the Ball a lot of the time.

cowies like a dog chasing the ball around a park, think we need something a bit better in the premier leauge.

Bradford for me, not Kevin.

Cowie shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.

Or do we go with the patient approach as, Man City are patient and pass it around through Toure in the Centre. Fecking doing my head in, knowing how this Manc side are going to do. Got to get in their faces all afternoon :o

Championship player at best, isn't this why Medel was brought in?

Interesting question posed there. Would 11 league 1 players be better than 1 premier league right back?

Wasn't even a regular last season & now he's suggested as a way of beating Man City? :laughing5:

Brayford. I must remember to remind apple that their spellcheck system has completely missed a football player. :sleepy2:

Drop Turner, Connolly, Gunnar and Bellamy and we might get somewhere, I'd like to see us give Mutch a go alongside Medel as he reminds me of Carrick

How he managed to get on the bench never mind on the pitch, over Conway and Noone ill never know, good first season for us but shouldn't have got in the squad last season as much as he did, we are weak in depth

Cowie is just not good enough. Staggered he was even on the bench; should be sold or loaned out to a Championship club.
Same applies to McNaughton.

My team would be a 3-2-3-1-1 system to jam up the middle and restrict Man City to have to go wide and cross when attacking, I think we have a lot more chance getting a result defending crosses instead of defending a free flowing Man City through our middle. My team would be as follows, Brayford and Conway are out wide with their engines to try and deal with their full backs overlapping:

---------------------------------Marshall--------------------------------

-------------Caulker------------Hudson-----------Turner-------------

---------------------Gunnarsson--------Medel-------------------------

-------------Brayford------------Mutch-----------Conway-------------

------------------------------------Kim----------------------------------

----------------------------------Bellamy--------------------------------

Alright, let's just match them player for player in the middle then so they can use their superior passing and movement to play us off the park and cut through us.

Im not a big Cowie fan but its damage limitation on Sunday and I wouldnt mind his industry in the middle of the park.

~So who do we sacrifice to play Cowie?

Whitts - hell no. We need to be throwing ourselves all over the place just outside the area to try and get dead ball situations, where Whitts can (as we know) hit an accurate free kick, or swing in a tidy ball for one of our CH's etc.

Medel - NO! goes without saying.

Kim - Maybe? but I think he will have learn't about his unusual selfish style he took on v West Ham. He is one of our best players, we know this right? So do we take off one of our best players judged on one game?

Bellamy - I don't think so. He knows Man City to a degree, We also need to keep our more clever, experienced players on the pitch. Maybe he is losing a bit of pace, but his attitude and professionalism is much needed so can't leave him on the bench. Certainly not behind Cowie as a choice....

Mutch - NO WAY! Mutch seems like he's fit again, and raring to go. He is strong, Direct, can tackle and track. I hope he starts over Gunnarsson and Cowie tbh.

Maybe go with one striker? but do we want to see that happen at home? I don't know.

I KNOW you will have an answer for this  , but Hope the players I mention above, start. :malky:

Merlin id sacrifice Kim tbh. Cant see us getting much of the ball and think he would be a passenger Sunday.

Not a big fan of Mutch tbh but thats the beauty of football all about opinions.

Interesting, two different ways to go, Kim obviously a very intelligent player but realistically a set piece is our best bet so mutch adds height in both boxes.

Macnaughton and cowie are no good for this level. I'm looking forward to seeing brayford.
