After bottling it numerous seasons, his golf love in and him shagging a hot girl who played netball and was younger than him, I think its fair to say in hindsight he was a good manager who tried to get us playing the right way to go up.
At times with Bothroyd and Bellamy we played teams off the park - the Leeds away 4-1 drubbing springs to mind as well as other times we just were unplayable. I don't recall any real flair under Malky, more efficient in terms of performance but now its proving to be a negative with us as we have no flair or killer instinct in the last third of the field.
Dave had his faults but he tried to do it the right way and I think his style would have been better suited to the Premier League than Malky Mackay's. Also Dave was very good at getting rid of our young talent so you could guarantee that Rudy would have been sent off to Celtic or another team by now and we'd have a better player in like Zamora.
For what its worth, I wish Dave Jones came back. It would be like the ideal reunion that we needed to boost morale in the City and get people believing again. Had Malky gone to Everton he'd have been the ideal replacement as he plays nice football does Dave and he's obviously a likeable charismatic guy otherwise he wouldn't be smashing a fit netballer's back doors in would he?
I think we give Malky until Christmas and if he ain't doing the job we sack him, bring Jones in, and dust ourselves down and go again. Once we get Jones back in the pressure will be on Norwich, not us and we'll stay up.
Dave Jones please come home back to Cardiff City!!

Seems a bit late for a Jones love in.
Doubt many will even read all that (I never)
Still horses for and all that.
In Malkey we trust, long live the king.

Do you think Malky will last long though mate? I think he'll be gone soon enough. Tan is very shrewd and will want to see a quick return on his expenditure and if the results don't come in early I think thats Malky gone mate. Im worried that the brand of football we see under Malky won't get the job done. We have no bite whatsoever up front and I hope when CityGent said another striker is to be brought in that its a decent name with a good goal scoring record or we could be screwed. We need a Benteke type and a winger who's direct I think to even pose a threat. I personally cant see Malky lasting long. Just my 2p mate.

maybe malky's achilles heal is attack based strategy and training, who knows, early days but teams need to big goal tallys to survive in this league. unless your stoke.
ps if were bottom come december we could always get tony pulis
i got love for malky tho happy to let him have a crack

Of course mate I reckon Malky is good at what he does but he like Dave has his weaknesses no doubt. Malky definitely deserves his shot and Tan will give him that at least but I think things could quickly turn sour with Tan at the helm. Look at what happened at QPR and I think theres a good chance that we might follow suit.
Im unsure if I'd want Pulis as he is pretty much going to be similar in his style to Malky. I'd rather us bring in someone who's going to play football on the ground and bore and frustrate teams, as much as it kills me to say it, like the Jacks. They bore teams and then score the goal and then go back to frustrating them again.

Burnley H, Blackburn A, last year...

Agreed with some of that. But at the same time we would sometimes need MM's style of grinding results out like DJ never really had.

I remember Scunthorpe home where Olofinjana scored late on. Never again. Malky or an ambitious foreign manager for me. None of the British shit

Dave Jones, please come home to Cardiff City? What a great idea.

Also James, brilliant attempt of a wind up. We've played good football under Malky sometimes, I don't give a f**k how we play, as long as the effort is there and the results go in our favour it really doesn't bother me. You can say 'footballing side' and refer to Swansea but football is football, Stoke are no different to Swansea in terms of football, If we played possession football then I wouldn't care as long as it won, if we played hoofball to Gestede I wouldn't care as long as we won. Malky has his faults but also brings in some brilliant attributes. Bobby Zamora as well? No thank you, I'll believe in Malky thank you

Don't understand the hate for DJ sometimes. He took us as far as he could which included reaching an FA Cup final which hasn't happened since 1927. Of course he made mistakes but who doesn't?

Wind up? Are you for real? Dave Jones had us playing football that was much more attractive than Malky's. Polo is 100% right, our football under Malky is in 99% of cases absolute dross. Even in the Carling Cup final we were lucky to score the second in a scrappy goal and Liverpool came at us constantly because we let them. Downing was allowed to go at our full backs for fun.
It works against shit teams like Bristol City and Ipswich but not against true quality midfielders who can unlock us with ease.
Im not being funny but if the likes of Mata, Cazorla, Hazard and so on can unlock Champions League level midfields and defences they'll go through us like a knife through butter. Why does Malky think this brick wall approach will work? He's off his head.
We need to be more attacking to stop the pressure coming back on the back four and that is a fact. Man Utd rarely concede goals because they are often on the front foot controlling the pace and tempo and we cant do that at all under Malky often enough. Even in the Championship we found ourselves going 1-0 up and then grinding out the result, we didn't dominate or control the game and we often scrapped the points onto the table.
Sorry but I'd rather Jones back at least then we'd have a chance instead of hoof ball 101 from Turner. If the truth hurts then so be it because that is my opinion and I think Polo was right all along about this style of play.
Malky will get given time and he needs to learn quick or his number is up.

The bottom line with all Dave Jone's Cardiff City teams was that they didn't achieve anything, fact.
In the five seasons that he was in-charge, we probably played about three or four sub lime games per season, with the rest being either average, or being really crap. If DJ was still here, we would still be in the Championship, imho.

Didn't spend as much as Malky and took us from a promoted team to a team competing at the top on a routine basis.
Malky finished the job by spending a lot of money. Yes he rebuilt the squad but the core was DJ's - Marshall, Hudson, Kev and Whitts. Without those 4 legends we'd not have gone up.
The slack DJ gets is ridiculous.

Because he was boring scouse git who had it in for the fans, bled the club dry of money, inept tactics costed us THE FA Cup, if we played Ramsey from the start we'd have had a much better chance. His poor man management of players, not being able to control the dressing room. Then decided to be even more bitter last season over the club. People can dislike him if they want to. Jesus Christ. I was never a fan of him and was glad to see the back of him. People slagging off Malky like no end yet he's transformed this club for the better. A young squad fighting for each other, the academy being paid attention to. Fitness levels at a high.
Malky Mackay, thank you
Also it is a wind up James, considering one of your numerous accounts were 'MALKY IS MY GOD'

So im not allowed to change my opinion? I thought Malky was class for us but its obvious hes been found out. He'll be sacked in no time and I still respect him for taking us up and always will but I think his tactics are not right for this level unfortunately.

I'm not slagging off DJ, but, the fact of the matter is that he had a season too long with us. The guy is a dinosaur, & he just ran out of steam,,,& ideas. He did what he had to do, but his limitations were more than evident towards the end of his tenure.
To even suggest that his return to our club as manager, or in any other capacity, as a serious one, is frankly ridiculous.

Not at all. It was one game, it's like saying legendary managers such as Mourinho, SAF, Benitez etc were found out in their first few games whilst taking over a club. It's quite silly. He hasn't been found out, I've seen us play attacking football. Blunt silly replies don't pay off on this messageboard Barnett.
