NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL,A LONG HARD ROAD AHEAD OF US,BUT

Sat Aug 17, 2013 3:59 pm

West Ham 2 Cardiff City 0

Judging by todays performance at West Ham.

Our defence is still Championship level in my opinion, Turner, Connolly and John still learning.

Up front very few chances.

West Ham will prob be only be midd table come May.

Our players worked hard,1st half we gave them to much respect, 2nd Half we had a bit more about us.
We still need at least another 4 Quality players.

All the Players came towards the fans at the end of the game and applauded them and then Malky did, with a thumbs up, as the fans chanted Bluebirds Bluebirds.

Plenty of Blue today

' BUT '
Remember its only our first game and a few more additions and I can then see the hard work paying of
Never mind its not the end of the world and Malky will bring in more quality players

Just my opinion as a fan

Connolly was terrible. why noone or conway didnt make the bench is a mystery. I love malky but a few things today confused me. where was brayford.

Oh well its only 1 game :ayatollah: Tough road ahead :malky:

I'd rather us look like getting a result than what the crowd look like

We need 2-3 players still - A striker is essential

Today proved the step up in class between Championship and Premiership is enormous. Malky and the players need to learn, and very, very quickly!

No need to push the panic button but we need to get up to pace.

The honeymoon is well and truly over.

I think we were robbed. We should have had 2 penalties and West Ham were time wasting a lot of the time.

Very unlucky today and Howard Webb is obviously anti Welsh.

Connolly still learning? He's looks like a centre half playing fullback, which of course is what he is. Nowhere near good enough. We need more pace and creativity. 4 or 5 players needed including a centre half and full back, 2 wingers and a striker who can hold it up. Hopefully cornelius will be the latter but he's raw and may not be ready yet.

Today was not a disaster and we weren't shamed by any means, but that starting 11 is bottom 3 material

To put things in perspective how do you all think Arsenal fans are feeling this evening.

Besides losing the game the biggest disappointment for me was that we didn't score, just that one simple thing could have given the players a boost this evening and Maynard really should have scored.

Our season now starts against Everton.

this is malkys style of football, defend at all costs try nick a goal from set pieces, nor surprised with the line up tbh or the way we played, id love tricky fast wingers maybe malky will do it and if we get Montero have him and noone on wings and brayford at right back but malkys has been the same denfense hoofball for a season and a half, not knocking malky it got us results last season but hopefully he can adapt the squad and playing style

First game a youth player at LB. Kim, Medel, Gunnar all PL debut. Could have been worse. Need to stop our fans form moaning though.

Annis is right in that you've got a long road in front and from a neatrual point of view then it looks like you're going to be fighting for your lives.

Travelled up to watch the match and must say you looked really poor. Not to sure if it was nerves or that your new players haven't adjusted to their new surroundings yet but if they haven't then they best do and do so fast.

It's only one lose but get into that mindset of losing then its freefall. Good support and Cardiff were loud from were I was sitting. Cant upload pics via my phone for some reason but will when I make it home.

Yes it was hard but optimistic for season, with few new players! We also need to be better in delivering balls into middle from free kicks ect, but could be worse like a Sunderland fan!

Hilarious.

I have never before made fun of anyone's opinion on this board. But you are deluded.

We had one penalty appeal with the handball that maybe on another day we would have been given.

We were played out of the park first half. Second half we dominated possession but only made one proper chance.

Howard webb had an all round good game and i didnt see him burning any welsh flags during the 90 minuets, before or after the match

A few lessons learned by Malky today I believe. we were like scared rabbits in the headlights, the occasion got to many of out players and we were far too negative tactically. Hate to be negative about players but Connolly was abysmal and definitely our weak link in defence (we need a right back). Bellamy was way off the pace and looks a shadow of his former self and Gunnarsson doesn't look fit either. We are desperately in need of some width. We need Montero or someone similar pronto and I would be playing Noone wide right as well. Gestede is simply not good enough (hope Cornelius gets fit soon, and we need another proven striker. We are in need of a powerhouse attacking midfielder as well. So sorry Mr Tan but you need to get your cheque book out - bit of an eye opener today wasn't it lads? Some positives Medel looks class and so does Kimbo. We need to come out fighting next week :ayatollah:

3 of our 5 at the back should of not been there to start.
Can't blame Declan , chucked in at the deep end .
I have said it before , Connolly is not a RB and Turner is not premier class.
It's going to be a hard learning curve and the pressure is already on Malky.

To me there are some obvious quick fixes;
Hudson in for turner (if nothing else the team performs much better with him)
Connelly out brayford in
Cornelius in up front for Campbell when fit or play both. Definitely no place for gestede
hopefully montero in on the wing too will give us the width we need

Whitts and Medel are the only 2 players capable of keeping posession.

I expected a draw at best tbh. Weat ham will be top 10. Taylor, brayford and hudson should be playing all season, if malky is going to drop hudson we need a new cb. Along way to go we will stay up! :ayatollah:

Agree West Ham is always going ot be hard to get a result. But we definetly need a 2 new fullbacks as both Connelly and John arent good enough

I was being sarcastic mate. It was fairly obvious we were absolutely dreadful and if Malky sticks with this style of play he's going to be sacked sooner than he thinks.

What are people banging on about? Get a dose of reality boys! From the moment we were promoted we were odds on for relegation. It's going to be a scrap for every single point. Home form critical to survival. All away points a bonus! End of.
