I'm Back and Best of British for the Season!

Wed Aug 07, 2013 7:05 am

Haven't posted on here for nearly a year and frankly after travelling round the country watching the heap of shite that Mark Hughesless piled us with last season, missing one game, to be honest I almost gave up on football in its entirety. So it thought I would give you the heads up on what to expect from the 'greatest league in the world', if you yourselves have not yet been disenfranchised by your own commercial re-branding. Firstly the most important thing in football now is not winning it is money. The money you make the more it seems that your club is a success, doesn't matter where you end up. No doubt the cost of watching Cardiff has increased. For those of you who travel to away games be prepared to be fleeced at some amazing prices. highest last year was Chel*** away at £52. Average cost must have been about £42-43 which included Wigan at £20, who you won't play because they have also managed to escape. Matchday scarves are a must. I bet you cannot wait to buy your Cardiff/Swansea red and white Matchday scarf! What the f..........? Tourists everywhere. You go to Old Trafford and you fight your way through 30,000 Japanese taking photos of every bloody thing going. 'Cardiff' supporters who suddenly want tickets because ManUre are in town. being gobbed on by chavvy Scousers sitting in the tier above you. Going to places like the Emirates or Stamford Bridge and watching the home supporters sit quietly and applaud the grass growing. Watching your team get mullered more often than not.

Yes some away games are decent. Everton. Great old ground and decent supporters. Spuds, again great old ground and decent support. West Brom, if you find the pub called the Vine, you are in for a treat. Sunderland, shit ground, you are halfway to the gods, but a superb, buffet Chinese in the middle of the town. At Newcastle, take oxygen masks, a Sherpa and your telescope. And if it is in the middle of winter, your duvet. Mercenary footballers, we cornered the market in them last season, none more so than Jose Bosingwa. You will get the odd one.

And before you accuse me of being bitter, those who remember my old posts will know that I am balanced in my views and I knew that watching PL football was not going to be as much fun as watching the Championship. Indeed when we got promoted I said I would never gloat as the following season it was just as likely that we would be swapping places with you guys. Almost right, just a season out. Try to enjoy it and don't take it seriously. It is never going to be a sporting competition, Cardiff with a host of other clubs will become cannon fodder for the top five. It really is a shame. At the start of last season people would ask me how I hoped QPR would do. My answer as with the previous season, was that I didn't give a monkeys as long as we beat Chel***. We did it twice so I was happy :ayatollah:

Now finally, Stephane M'bia. Now I like Malky Mackay, good manager and seemed to have a good eye for a player. M'bia? What the hell is he thinking of? I reckon our Tony has had a bit of fun with Vincent. The bloke was a total liability last season, slow, play-acting, always getting booked, poor judge of challenges, blood rushing to head. Barmy, mad, stupid, sulks. All the worst attributes in a footballer. At the end of games he always gave his shirt away to a young supporter even if it meant climbing into the stand and going halfway up it! At Swansea last season the plank even managed to go into the wrong stand and gave it to a young Jack! Never seen such a confused look on a kids face in my life  if Malky wants him, then he is welcome. We are glad to get rid. Anyway all the best for the new season, come what may.

Welcome back.

Your comments about Mbia are worrying though.

I always consider myself a good judge of a player and M'bia is a liability. I also saw Diakite mentioned in another thread about M'bia on here. Now that is one player who is madder than abou of frogs and also rumoured to be mentally a sandwich short of a picnic. It seems that he has gone completely AWOL or that the club has had him sectioned. Better players already in the Championship like the lad at Brighton.

Thanks for posting this and welcome back.

Agree with Carl that the comments about Mbia are concerning by do you think Malkay can get more out of him than Rednapp achieved?

I have this theory about lot of African players is that they are in the game to grab as much cash as possible, and there is itching racist in that statement. He came from Marsaille to play for us? Why? Money? If he was any good then the likes of Everton would have snaffled him for the £4million he cost us. unreliable and even Redknapp got fed up with him towards the end. Don't think the manager would make the difference. With all due respect to Malky, he is young, decent mind, but young and still inexperienced and would not command immediate respect from a lot of foreign players. As I said, the lad from Brighton would be a far better buy.

alarming comments on mbia! hope its just media talk with this..

some very funny, but probably true statements there of what we can expect!

After hearing about City's interest in Mbia, I was keen to see fans opinion of him as I didn't know him as a player.
Most comments were against him so it was interesting to get someone's honest views who watches him week in & week out.
Made a bit of worrying reading!!!
in Malky we Trust! ...... Lets hope so!

Cheers Griff, was nice to see the team winning again on Saturday, not a great performance but the tea just needed to know what a win felt like and still needs to adapt to the more direct and in Sheff. Weds case, some of the more brutal tackling that goes on. Hopefully Cardiff can at least do a Norwich, you ain't going to do a Swansea that is for sure. But my message is, just don't take it seriously. Greetings all same as DW football has left me with somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth the last 2 seasons but I'm glad now we are back in a league where we can have fun, score goals which we lacked massively the last two seasons & have a good shot of going up & trust me if we manage promotion this season we will be sooooooo much stronger than last time round. Our owners have the best hearts in the world but were v v naive & will have learned a hell of a lot.

I'm genuinely happy you lads have gone up, you've been knocking on that door for years & you'll finally get to experience the big time & I'm delighted for you. As DW said many things to not look forward to but I'll tell you one other small thing he didn't mention that I always enjoyed was the massive step up in exposure you will receive. Things like Sky's football first with 75 minutes of all your games every week & the pages after pages in the rags will keep you busy.

Mbia. I'm gonna be frank & honest. In his defence he is meant to be better at CB but we bought him as a CM which is the position I think you've earmarked him for. Right. Basically falls over a lot, gives loads of free kicks away, never see him for a strong lad boss games, never saw him win his individual battle against his opposite number, saw him play ONE decisive through ball for Remy leading to a goal. That was the only assist, doesn't score & rarely heads the ball. He is a unit & really tries hard but for me he's a very ineffective player. I would take CM's like Snodgrass & Bradley Johnson over him all day long, bread & butter players who play to their strengths. I saw every single game Mbia played for us in a QPR shirt & I was probably pleased with him 2 maybe 3 times. I am delighted we are getting him off the wage bill & to get a significant fee for a player in his last year of contract is top business.

Good luck this year, aim for 17th & make that your target. :ayatollah:

Two great posts for two true football fans. This type of interaction between fans is what makes this message board so much more enjoyable to read as I'm bored with most of the pointless, bitter stuff on here (accept, of course, with those chino-wearing, rosey-cheeked, 6 fingered, cousin-marrying arseholes down west, most of whom deserve it!)

M'bia was quality in France and under Malky he will rediscover that form. He was only rubbish at QPR because 99% of your team were uninterested and that negative feeling rubs off on other players. If he comes here, Malky will either sort him out and we'll see the best M'bia or he'll be joining Velijonka on the scrapheap pile. Malky wont take no rubbish whereas managers like Hughes seem to be out of their depth whilst still believing they have everything in control.

Good posts though Stan and nice to read. :ayatollah:

Thanks for confirming what I already thought with M'bia, I did this post recently in reply to seanmogs, who has the exact same opinion on what a liability he is:

seanmogs wrote:
Really weren't impressed with him last season. Likes play acting, gets shrugged off the ball and fouls quite a bit. Bit of a moaner aswell.

Plus he's lazy, ducks out of tackles, doesn't track his men and hides when the chips are down. Couldn't think of anyone worse to sign to be honest!

Nice one lads.

The fella that said Malky will get him to rediscover his form you could well be right mate what you said about the negativity & it rubbing off on others is 100% right but I will say negativity doesn't make you fall over & all the other bad things Mbia does. His attitude is top class if I'm honest can't fault that at all. He may turn out to be a good signing for you.

Who in your squad are you expecting the most from? Is Bells fit and raring to go?

Me personally and I would suggest many others is Kimbo.

Only really featured in the 2nd half of last season but definitely one to watch and I think he will be a huge surprise for many Premier teams.

This is a perfect example of a great response and debate. More posts of this sort would greatly benefit the forum.

In response Stan, I'd say you are right and the falling over and so on was something he did in France. I just hope if we do sign him that the likes of Bellamy give him the kick up the arse he needs. At QPR he looks like a player lost in a rut. It's a gamble of course but one of be willing to take with Malky here. Now if we were talking Dave Jones I would say no. I guess it's decisions like this that really show how important a manager is and the effect he has on the team.

Blimey, I think me and Stan ought to be abusive to all things Cardiff! :D seriously I hope you all enjoy the season ahead, for most if not all it will be a new experience, and those of you who were of the old faithful, 15 years ago in the old fourth division, or whatever it was called then, (and no doubt you'll all claim you was one of the 5,000  ), then I am sure that this season is a dream come true. I'll be watching Cardiff gamese whenever they are on for sure, unless it is a lunchtime kick off or ealy evening, but I do bloody wish you lot were playing in blue. It was bad enough last year with Southampton wearing a Liverpool kit, let alone your lot. :x still hopefully Tan will have a relapse and agree to revert. Oh and one other thing about the bloody Prem, especially for those that travel to away games by train. If you buy in advance to get the cheap tickets, think again. SKY will really screw you up with the constant changing of kick off times.

Re: I'm Back and Best of British for the Season!

Wed Aug 07, 2013 5:55 pm

DW: You were doing so well and then you had to mention the rebrand! That is a sure fire way of turning any thread on this board into absolute carnage! Polarised views with the same old, same old arguments - not debates. But we won't go into that now :D

You make a very good point about rail travel. I'm an exile living near Bournemouth but am well aware that Sky can scupper the best laid plans of any traveller.

I really hope you guys get promoted this year (whilst also praying that we can survive) as QPR away is one of my favourite games and probably my most visited ground.

Good luck for the season, I wish you well. :malky:
