Bristol City fans hit with over 100 years of banning orders

CARDIFF City v Bristol City

A mob of Bristol City fans have been banned from attending football matches for more than 100 years after violence following a Bluebirds match.

A total of 32 men were today convicted of public order offences which took place outside the Cardiff City Stadium and in St Mary Street on Saturday, February 16.

At the time, WalesOnline reported how the Great Western pub was forced to close after furniture was damaged and a smoke bomb set off.

South Wales Police launched Operation Panther to identify and arrest those involved.

The force said the investigation sent out a clear message “that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated”.

Examination of 60 hours of CCTV footage and an appeal for information resulted in 36 individuals being identified.

Of these, 29 pleaded guilty and have been sentenced, three pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentence, two are awaiting trial and two remain wanted.

Banning orders imposed today at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court prevent them from attending any football matches in the UK.

Most of the group were banned for three years – however five men were given longer orders, bringing the total ban to 102 years.

Michael Harding, 30, was given an eight-year banning order in addition to a three month suspended prison sentence, a 12-month supervision order and 80 hours’ unpaid work.

Jamel Labruna, 26, and Duran Thaws, 30, each received six-year banning orders.

Dean Ford, 27, was given a six-year order and a four-month prison sentence. Luke Selman, 23, was given a five-year order, a 12-week suspended sentence and 80 hours’ unpaid work.

South Wales Police football liaison officer PC Christian Evans said: “This incident did not involve any home fans and the vast majority of away supporters behaved impeccably, but unfortunately a small minority – less than 3% of the travelling contingent – were intent on causing trouble.

“Many of the genuine Bristol City fans were unaware of the disorder as they were still in the stadium watching the game.

“These are not scenes we are used to seeing in Cardiff and we are committed to keeping football a safe environment.

“The involvement of these 32 men and the weight of evidence have been reflected in their guilty pleas.

“Operation Panther show a clear intention by South Wales Police to continue to pursue banning orders against those who blatantly and actively look to engage in incidents of disorder at football matches.”

Agree with 6 fingers on this one - why throw it all away ( like the pre-season smoke bombs ) - even regarding 'reps' as has been said no-one even chucks a punch anymore - best do what Cardiff did re Bristol ( who had one last chance to paly up before relegation ) and just ignore them - 'rep' still intact.

6B - how did it go so far re trouble home and away in the prem - so how were the away days ?

Have to say, "That's what happens when you pick on our pubs"

But when you consider how many Cardiff and Chelsea got Custodial for basically attacking like minded people, these lame wankers get bans and community service for attacking and intimidating Shirts and Bar and Door Staff..

Joke......

I can't think of a single incident worth mentioning.I might be wrong but nothing comes to mind.An Arsenal fan did throw a bottle of tomato sauce from his perch up high onto a Jack last season.Does that count?

Scarfers are gonna end up copping it away from home because Cardiffs mob has either grown up or been banned.

blues v villa sometimes has gone off.think bits of mither v west ham the year they went down.2003?.you are right though.it is mainly dead in the prem.certainly by the grounds.a combination of camara,s ,policing and jail has certainly cooled it down.that and the fact most 80,s lads are around the 50 mark now.

I was around POW and Kiwi's that day. The wurzels got escorted from the train to the closest pub to the station - surrounded by ob - a few spotty wankers broke a few chairs and let off a smoke bomb - then got escorted to the stadium. Any wurzel who got a banning order that day must be regretting beating up tables and chairs. Enjoy your Saturdays for the next few years silly bollox

Had to laugh at the way the Wurzels in question plastered videos all over youtube of them smashing up the pub gloating "Bristol fans take over Cardiff" etc.. how thick can they get? Wonder if they think it was worth it now :ayatollah:

Bunch of idiots. They were all giving it the big one after what happened, and it turned out they only beat up a few chairs in a pub and didn't even get near any of our fans. Hilarious.

Over the moon with this, it's a reward though, not being there to witness the heap of shit they're used to

I've got it on good authority that two of the chairs fought back.

Apparently they laid out 10 of the carrot crunchers, which in hindsight was a godsend, as they weren't caught on camera due to them being laid prostate on the floor.

Why do you think those cheeky worzle twats didn't get what was due? Our lot knew the score.

It was once part of football, whether you agreed with it or not. Now, it is a mugs game, because like minded or not, your getting a long ban or even time and big brother is everywhere these days.

But, there will be trouble this season, may be smal amount but will happen. There are a lot of clubs who will want to get at us.

As for Bristols ikea crew - fucked by a table and chair

Good. But I imagine that the spotty bottlers will be proud of their bans for beating up chairs whilst hiding behind the OB. Dozy, scruffy, carrot-crunching-cunts. Poofs.
