' Great News from down West '

A great result for the Jacks last night, well done

I always said I wanted them to get in to the Europa League stages
Look back at my posts.

So now the Premier League season starts and the real work begins, when squads will be tested and will yours be good enough to survive?

Tough old season ahead I feel for both of us, Squads will be surely tested, does anyone need any distractions?

Agreed Annis, we now have Welsh internationals competing in Europe which will only strengthen us! It is only when they are in direct competition with us that i wish they lose otherwise it makes no difference to us!

Slightly off topic. But can you imagine the last day of the season and we need to do you a favour and beat Sunderland in order for you to stay up.Come on you Jacks!!!! :laughing6:

Birmingham and Newcastle fans would agree with the issues of the europa league. It is a stretch on players.

I reckon its also worth considering the stretch on fans. The crowd numbers for last night were low considering it was first game in weeks and first in europe for years.

It may well impact their premier league crowds as fans get stretched. Which in turn will effect atmosphere, which in turn will effect crowd numbers. And so on......there is only so much football a rugby fan will pay to see :old:

The best thing to happen is jacks in a gruelling european campaign with a paper thing squad

We're all 3 injuries away from a crisis ;)

Your wide men were decent last night, have you got competition in this area?

Yeah we have Pablo Hernandez,Dyer,Pozuelo and Routledge.2 players for each wing, although they do tend to swap around, come inside etc. It's up front we need to strengthen.Only Bony and Michu can play up top with the youngster Donnely waiting in the wings.Laudrup knows this and said we'll bring in another striker as back up.Thing is what decent striker will come here to play second fiddle to Bony and Michu? Odemwingie maybe :?:

The Jacks will be fine first half of the season but an European campaign will take its toll in the second half of the season - they don't have a big enough squad to be competitive in the Premier League, Europa League FA and Carling Cups. When they beat Malmo they still have a play off round before they even reach the group stages so that's 4 extra games they have to play before the group stages start. Will be a tough season for them and their entry into the Europa League could well be a poison chalice.

Gotta say it, I thought Swansea looked very good last night, and I really think they could be a force this season.

Re: ' Great News from down West '

In which case, we would cheer on Swansea. Every true Cardiff fan would.. We aren't so dull as to cheer on a result that would relegate ourselves... (Well, most of us ;) )

Aye.There'd be a few on here that would still cheer on Sunderland.Barnett and Murphy to name 2.

It's funny how all you jacks seem to think we'll be in a relegation battle, on what grounds do you base this???? i take comfort from most of the teams that have been promoted from the championship over the last 4-5 years yourselves included, i have no doubt in my mind that we'll be ok this season, and with a couple of big signings still to come we could suprise of few people.

I think you'll be ok too.But as you know it could well happen. It was just a scenario i plucked out of the air.

It's a joke they can't even fill the Ospreys council block for their first game in Europe in years and its only tiny, we have more fans drinking beer in the concourse than they get for a game :laughing6:

Re: ' Great News from down West '

Guys, get it into your heads now, the Jacks wont be getting relegated wether they have a long hard european campaign or not.

I watched them last night, and whilst the opposition was not great, every single one of their new signings looked good.

There is no point saying otherwise, Jonjo Shelvey was like Stephen Gerrard hitting 60 yard passes cross field. Never impressed me that much before but last night, as the main man in midfield he impressed me and is a snip at 5/6m.

Im just going to concentrate on worrying us staying in the division and not trying to overhaul the Jacks cos in all honesty we have got a lot of catching up to do, theres no point denying it.

Success breeds success.

I'd be chuffed to to bits if we were going into our 3rd premier league season with a European campaign to kick on with.

Fulham fans and that night match against juventus is what football is all about.

And let's be honest, we've got a Real Madrid European win to hang onto......but that was some time ago now!!

Pains me to say it but, the Jack's might be onto their next big chapter as a club.

A double over them this season will put all their European exploits well out of my mind though!!!

believe me they arent all that happy, the ones i know anyhow....a bit of unstability this summer with manager owner, us coming up, there form last 20 games of season and the unknown affect of the europa league......they are trying to be excited but secretly pooing it that they could get sucked into a battle at the bottom, and worse case they go down and we survive. The ones on here will never admit it of course, the ones i see every week or so are though.... :D

Cardiff City are currently one of the faves for relegation kid. You haven't signed many proven players - except CAULKER. If you add some more I'm convinced you'll survive. But as it stands, you could do a Reading. Storm the Championship, then flop in the Premier League. Cardiff have a strong side, but when you compare them to other squads, they don't really come out as winners. 2 more Premier League quality signings would do it for me. Norwich City were tipped to go down, not after their haul this window, so that's another name to cross off.

Well the pisshead leighton james was interviewed on talksport yesterday, and he admitted he was nervous about competing on two fronts. That ain't an opinion of mine it was on national radio.

Couldn't be more wrong. Every single fan I have spoken to is bursting with excitement about this season. We have our strongest squad EVER and a wonderful manager and management team and finally decent training facilities. Last night was special and the prospect of going on a European run is mouth watering. Laudrup targets specif cups and this year I would think his target will be the europa league. Reserves out for league and fa cups. If we go out in the first round of each nobody will worry too much. Relegation at this moment in time seems a very distant thought.
