Yes. Barton is an amazing crosser of the ball and he was key in Carroll doing well at Newcastle. Hopefully he can provide the same for Cornelius. Great business if true and he is an honest pro as well. He made a few mistakes but people do that and that is life.

Just saw this on Twitter- "Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Joey Barton banned for 12 games in the Prem after his last game v Man City in the 11/12 season?"
Is that true

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has offered his services to hometown club Everton as he looks to secure a move away from Loftus Road, according to the Mirror.
The boyhood Toffees fan is so keen to secure a move to Goodison Park that he has offered to take a fifty per cent pay cut on his £70,000 per week wages.
Barton is currently with Harry Redknapp’s side having spent a year on loan with Ligue 1 side Marsielle, and could feature in the Hoops opening game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
However, the 30 year old has made contact with Everton manager Roberto Martinez to see if he would be willing to sign him.
The controversial player was linked with a move to the Blue half of Merseyside on a number of occasions during David Moyes’ tenure with finances often the stumbling block, though Barton himself could now help to make it happen.
His last match in England was the final game of the 2011/12 campaign, where he was sent off against would be champions Manchester City, firstly for elbowing Carlos Tevez before givng Sergio Aguero a dead leg.
He then aimed a head-butt at City captain Vincent Kompany, all leading to the one-time England international receiving a twelve match ban from the Football Association.

Mackay distanced the reports about Barton, when asked he replied ""I think he lives round here," Mackay said."

Malky Mackay is still looking to add "two or three" players to his Cardiff squad ahead of the new season.
The City manager watched his side go down 3-2 to a late Brentford winner in their latest pre-season game at Griffin Park.
Mackay has so far brought in striker Andreas Cornelius and goalkeeper Simon Moore, and afterwards he told Sky Sports News the search for new recruits is ongoing.
He said: "The group we have are at the fitness level we expect them to be at, so that's important. but at the same time I still need to add two or three players.
"We've got various plates spinning. We're working hard on it but they've got to come in and add to this group.
"We're looking at good players to come in and we're trying to improve in all areas."
Mackay stonewalled when asked whether his list of targets includes Celtic's Joe Ledley, Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback or Tottenham's England defender Steven Caulker.
But he did say Joey Barton's presence at Griffin Park was no more than a coincidence.
"I think he lives round here," Mackay said.

Tue Jul 30, 2013 10:59 pm
The Mirror report that controversial midfielder Joey Barton has approached Everton proposing to halve his wages to join the Blues from QPR if they want him.
The 30 year-old is back in England after a year in France with Marseille and preparing for a season in the Championship with the newly-relegated Londoners but is agitating for a move to his boyhood club if the report is to be believed.
It is not clear how much Harry Redknapp would ask for Barton but with Everton now back on a sell-to-buy footing ̵ not to mention building a close-nit group of well-grounded players – this would appear to be a complete non-starter.

What has he done wrong at Marseille then as its only his wages which are stopping them for taking him on permenantly

Stranger things have happened . It's well known that we are looking for a defensive midfield player.
We got more hope of getting him and Caulker than we have on likes of Capoue and Moreno .

I was at the game and spoke to him at half time. He said he wasn't joining us just watching the game. as a qpr player it makes sense hed sit in our end instead of there rivals.

Will Joey Barton line up for QPR against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday? And, if he does, what kind of reception would he get from the fans?
The latest news on the Joey Barton saga is that his agent has contacted Roberto Martinez at Everton and said that his client would only take a pay cut from his £70,000-a-week salary at QPR to join Everton.

I noticed something interesting today on Sky Sports News. There was a story about Barton and his agent approaching Everton and they showed showed a 15 second clip of Joey. In the clip he's on a football pitch of some sort chatting to a bloke in a CCFC coaching tracksuit......
Has he been training with us recently?
