So it looks like we are signing Nelson Oliveira on loan, has any1 got an idea if he is a good player and what he may offer. Dont know much on him myself, is he an out an out forward or more of an attacking mid?

Re: Nelson Oliveira

4 goals in 30 matches last year not the best record.

I believe he's a proper centre forward. I stand to be corrected by some FM genius.

His goal ration was not to good last season, but maybe thats because Deportivo were rubbish all round

Do you think that may ne because deportivo were weak, and maybe did not set up many chances?

They must have been pretty poor. They finished 18th and were relegated. Malky must see something in him.

Even in a poor side you would score more than 4 goals

Maybe, MM seems to like signing up strikers that dont score many besides Cornelius

I reckon he'll do well for us, well I hope so.

its says on his wiki page (not the most reliable i know) 75 matches 8 goals thats in his whole career shocking stats & 1 goal in 10 for national team (most as sub) but rudy has got a better record than that surely

i hope for the players own sake he has set up a shit load of goals & has a shit hot assist record cos its piss poor.

but i have never seen the boy play he cud well be a good signing if he does come im more than willing 4 the boy to prove me wrong

our fav footy agent on twitter has said
Former Agent UK ‏@FormerAgent_ 7m
Nelson Oliveria loan move to Cardiff. Deal agreed with Benfica, just needs medical. #CCFC #Benfica
so we know its a done deal

strikers are the last place i'd be looking to strengthen 2 defenders min, 1 top winger & maybe a proven prem CM

He is only 21 as well mind so he can only get better, and i have no doubt he is better quality than rudy

Sounds like Deportivo treated him like shit, like he says in that article, he is not superman and cannot score a hat trick in ten mins every time he comes on

As long as its not Mandela :D

Re: Nelson Oliveira

33 out of 36 of his first team apperrances have come from the sub bench ? Not really that inspiring is it?

By the look of it he only had 3 starts out of 36 appearances though. Reading between the lines the Club
and supporters were protesting about the amount of Portugese players in the team. Perhaps Oliveira
was the scapegoat. He's definitely coming here with something to prove. He's not costing us millions.
Good move I think. Good thinking Malky! :ayatollah:

How can you expect sum1 to show their talent if they are not given a run of starts

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 9:08 am

Strikers have got to play for at least three quarters of a game , not coming on as sub for 5 minutes

Sorry Topcat ;)
This link shows a bit about the man. Looks a class act last year

A bid of 24million would activate his release clause?

Obviously well thought of a year ago.

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 9:29 am

He played 880 minutes of football, scoring a goal every 220 minutes. I think if he has a run of games then we could have a little gem.

Interesting in that they say he always wants to train longer and play longer. Seems to have the right
work ethic. Obviously a highly regarded talent. The fact that Deportivo preferred to play a Spaniard
last season has seen him disappear off the radar a bit, the alleged interest from the big clubs petered
out and has given us a right result here I think. His wages wont be that high either ;) Lets push the boat
out and say he will cost us £1.5m for the season. I'll have some of that all day long :D

PULL YOUR FINGER OUT MALKY, YOUR FAILING MISERABLY IN THE TRANSFER MARKET (AGAIN)

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 9:43 am

Another unproven striker. His goal scoring record doesn't give me great confidence. Here's hoping that a consistent place in the starting line up is all he needs. Hopefully, one of our boys steps up and does the business! :ayatollah:

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Has he signed?

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Oliveira wo o o, oliveira wo o o

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:03 am

So why are so many posters convinced he's better than Campbell and Maynard?
Very little first team experience so how can you expect him to turn it on in the Premier League against top line defenders week in week out. Possibly a better option than Gustede or Mason, but I doubt it. A bench warmer at best, in my opinion.

Re: Nelson Oliveira

I'd be happy with this

Who else do you expect malky to sign then Messi or Ronaldo? Fans need to realise many strikers will not fancy a relegation battle. We also need 4 strikers which will be cornelius, campbell, maynard and maybe oliveira, mason and gestede will go on loan

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:10 am

Just got to trust malky, alot on here was'nt happy when we signed Campbell, and look how good he was for us.

Re: Nelson Oliveira

Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:16 am

Where in my post did I suggest we sign someone of the quality of Ronaldo or Messi? I was simply questioning whether he has anything more to offer than what we currently have in our squad. Resorting to sarcasm however does you little credit and only indicate that you obviously have little to offer on the subject.
