How will our fans cope?

Fri Jul 19, 2013 9:07 am

With Cardiff over the past couple of years we have always been competing at the higher end of the championship table and for the majority of these games we had a lot of possession of the ball, we looked quite comfortable against the opposition, had a lot of chances on goal. So as fans it has been quite easy to feel a bit relaxed and get behind the team (sometimes).

I was just thinking now that we are in a division that has potentially 19 teams that are going to be better than we are how are our fans going to cope with the team not having a lot of the ball? Not having as many chances on goal? and most importantly potentially losing the majority of our games?

Do you think we as Cardiff fans are going to be more vocal as the under dogs? For example the game against Leicester when Gypes got sent off and the entire Canton stand sang for the rest of the game. Or do you think if we're 20 minutes into a game 2-0 down fans are going to walk to the bars early or just leave?

I honestly believe or maybe its just hope that being the underdogs is going to make the atmosphere immense and the CCS is going to be rocking for the full 90 minutes for the majority of our games next season.

What's peoples opinions??

Backs to the wall stuff and low expectations will improve atmosphere IMO

The Premier League is mental. You look at the fixture list and ear mark winnable games, the likes of Fulham, Sunderland, Wigan etc etc

The thing is, when you actually kick off, you realise how good they are. Someone like Fulham, teams you don't really think of as being excellent sides, has the potential to crush you 5-0 on their day. the passing, finishing, defending, tackling, pace is something just not seen in the Championship and you certainly cant appreciate it by watching it on MOTD or on TV. first hand, its immense football.

You have to be prepared to lose against ANYONE, if you have that mentality going into the league then your fans wont let their frustrations get onto the pitch.

Ive not said anything remotely similar.

However, in all honesty - I still see you Palace and Hull as Championship sides, I wont have too may concerns going into our games this season. Stay up and then it proves you have Premier League quality.

We have earned our confidence, in our first year we absolutely didn't expect to win against anyone, not even against our fellow promoted sides.

well, you would be wrong. We are premiership sides. I'm sure many felt the same way about you. As you say, you should be prepared to lose to ANYONE.

I don't have a ''my lot''. I speak for myself.

And im sure many sides did see us as a Championship side having a jolly I the Prem, but we were strong enough to ram it down their throats, and you have got to be too or you will be brushed aside.

The three promoted sides will certainly be targeted for 6 points by most of the top 10 sides.

There bis something special happening at the CCS. I can remember at Wembley in CC Final. When WE WERE ALL IN TANDEM, it sent a shiver down my spine. And it was f*cking DEAFENING!!!! If we can get the atmosphere spot on down our home games, i'm sure it will provide the inspiration to the players and get us the results to keep us there. I TELL YOU THIS NOT MANY TEAMS WILL LIKE PLAYING US :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The evidence is attendances. Just look at the last time we were in the same league. What was it? 8,000 :laughing6:

That means nothing.. years ago.. Currently Swansea City have more fans than Cardiff City and there is no proof to say otherwise...

id agree with that. the fact they still haven't sold their 3000 tickets for their first prem game suggests so too, its even now on general sale.

I will give you that one since you have a larger ground capacity, but there is still no proof that would still be the case given equal ground capacity

Better club? Nope, you haven't done anything to back that up and Bigger club? only in debts im afraid

Yep, more seats generally does that.

If you took premier league football away from us both, and the capacity of the stadiums were swapped, who would have the most PAYING fans then ? :malky:

So you would get in excess of 23k in the championship against say Bolton would you ? Because of your status and popularity would you ? A little far fetched me thinks. :malky:

Certainly. We have the likes of Michu, Bony and Hernandez that are well known names in European football. We would also certainly get 23,000 if we gave kids season tickets away for £10 like you
