And also to be fair, that is a rose tinted view of football from a bygone era or the lower leagues

Its a view that I subscribe to and want back but the game is about money and success nowadays, it is an ugly version of the game but one that is here to stay.

You embrace it if you want some sort of success or fight against it and revert to the chasing pack in the leagues below the Premier League. Not many clubs can do it like Swansea.

You're right, spot on

Agree with you too Wayne, until the money bubble bursts (as it will at some stage) and investors see money-making opportunities to exploit elsewhere, they have our game by the bollox. The game will never be the same again, for that and other reasons, but there is never a better game than when you have a level playing field.

Of course they can. if you spend less than the club makes then any surplus comes off the debt. simple economics. but Cardiff don't do that as short term gain is seen as more important than long term stability.

If all 10 teams below us had 12 (TWELVE) games in hand over us and continued their form over the course of the season.... we still wouldn't be in the relegation zone. if you think that's close to being relegated then you need your head tested

A couple of dodgy signings this season, a couple of nasty injuries, Laudruo giving you one more year only, things can change quickly in football, profit can rapidly turn into loss, ask the banks and any other business. When it starts to go wrong you have no other income streams abroad or wealthy owners, no plan B, then the fun begins

Tbh i want to see all the welsh teams in top flight. These are the fixtures we look out for. But last season swansea were not the team they make out and a lack of strength in depth may hurt you this year. As it may us too

I don't see how you say we don't have strength in depth though? We have just signed 7 players on top of last years squad, all of good pedigree.

Twist things how you like you had a great start and quite a good fixture list, that gave you confidence ane helped your season considerably.

You had a terrible end after the cup,rob ably because the extra games and the excitement of the cup took it out of you, we had the same problems in years of great cup runs.

This season will be a whole new ball game, you have a much tougher start, playing netter quality teams earlier, how you start will again I am sure shape your season. A bad start will test your nerve and could have the opposite effect of last years confident start. Add to that the Europa games, travelling and playing on a Thursday, then having to travel back and play a fresh team that has had all week to prepare for just the one game on a Sunday, half the time away will be very difficult for you and could also make you drop points that you would normally get.

To early to predict things yet as I both of us could add to our squads yet, we will almost certainly add another four at least, but it is going to be a very interesting season, I can't wait.

I haven't checked but could we play you straight after a Europa game, that would be nice ???

However there is an argument that there is more chance of us gaining 15 points on Everton as opposed to Wugan gaining 10 on us due to the quality of sides, you are looking at it from a points perspective rather than an actual probability perspective. but I couldn't care less either way.

My point was we were nowhere near relegation as the other poster suggested.

The Banks were laughing and saying similar in 2006, record profits, their strategy was working, working within their means, then bang they didn't put enough away in the good times, and they needed the government to bail them out. Unfortunately for you if things go wrong the government won't be there to help you no one will. Some of you self righteous Jacks need to get off your high horse, yes things have gone well for you for a few years, but it won't last for ever, if you've supported any team for longer than five years you should be able to understand that !!!
