Give some credit to VT

Thu Jul 18, 2013 4:31 pm

When your dealing with sums of money and organisations the size of Cardiff City FC, things dont just happen overnight, but in the sort space of time he has been heavily involved with Cardiff City he has delivered time and time again.

Lets see what he's done (in my view) since he took an active role in running the club.....

Saved us from being wound up and cancelled out the then danger of administration - check
Gave MM a budget to sort out a very small playing squad - check
Personally paid for the special lighting to improve pitch condition (much needed at the time) - check
Got rid of Cardiff Blues - check
Financed a succesful promotion push - check
Supplied a very decent transfer budget for this transfer window - check

and looking to the near future:

Langston debt about to get sorted
New training ground, plans well underway
Hopefully after the Hamamm is sorted the debt to equity swap will go ahead as promised.

Now lets be honest who the f**k has done so much for Cardiff City football club in living memory????

All this guy wants is a little respect from the fans for all he has done, and all he seems to get (on this board at least) is pelters!

UNBERFUCKINGLEAVABLE!

His decision to rebrand the club will never be popular, but the positives far outweigh the negatives

Onwards and upwards!

(No doubt ive got a few things wrong in this post, im not a anarak when it comes to the problems and successes of the club, im just a normal fan, feel free to add more or correct me where im wrong)

You failed to mention he turned our home kit red and gave us the shiitest badge in the history of football. And bribed people to wait red with scarf gate

I don't care what good Tan does for us, for him to say that those against his rebrand are disrespectful to him is utter nonsense! The only person who's been disrespectful to our football club is Tan for taking our identity! Interesting how Tan says the 15 million spent on players took us up and not this "lucky red" nonsense! He continues to embarrass himself with his pathetic stunts/comments to antagonise/disrespect the fans!

As someone I know recently said "it doesn't matter what we might win under Tan because feeling you belong to your club is worth more than any trophy"!

Re: Give some credit to VT

I agree entirely with VT. He has been shown a bit of disrespect from the social media etc and a few people with a few racist comments and it's uncalled for. The re-brand will be a major factor in the clubs history and only in the future will we find out what benefit/hinderance it had on our club but he has delivered his promises.

I see people wanting Tan out but they won't realise, he'll just sell to another Asian investor as he he knows plenty. IMO we will only return back to Blue if we collapse entirely and do a Portsmouth. In hope I hope we'd do the same backing and help buy the club but there are good times ahead for CCFC under VT :malky:

I agree completely.

Most gave red a go due to the list of promises from Tan, the sorting of the Langston loan notes and the debt to equity exchange making us effectively debt free being the main carrots to which most fans could not turn refuse.

Just one question, what will Roathy and his siblings rant on about if we become debt free?....

We never had a choice of giving red a go it was landed on us so i fail to see how we could have refused it and thats why i and many other fans i know just wanted this debt to equity sorted once langston is gone, now its here its up to tan to deliver that promise. :ayatollah:

Mr Tan i salute you for 95% of the things you have done for our club ...

I will feel part of our club if the majority of the 3000 are wearing blue. But home games are different and unfortunately, I will never forget scarfgate where I felt like an away fan in my own stadium.

Behind you 100% VT has saved this club from going to the wall. Do I want red no I don't. Do I want to watch my beloved club week in week out yes I do.

Lets all calm down and campaign peacefully for a return to blue. With the debt nearing settlement perhaps if as rumours have it Sam will be on the board he may try to get us back to playing in blue?

VT has done more to keep our great club above water more than any other person fact. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Whose done so much for Cardiff city Football Club? nobody. Sam Hammam least of all :laughing6: but those same people giving him pelters are generally the ones dancing to Sams Agenda and they all know who they are :laughing6: . You only have to look at all the stickies here day after day, week after week, month after month to see who they are and what they are trying to do. Sometimes I think this board should be changed from Cardiff City Forum to Sam Hammam's mouthpiece :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: . Anyway like Tan said if your not happy with him he'll move on. So who do you all want at the helm? Sam Hammam?????

Well said Gavin.
There's no pleasing some fans, its unbelievable some of the criticism aimed at him from some fans.
Why their so worried about the debt is unbelievable as its totally out of their hands and how many times does tan have to say that he'll convert his debt to equity before people believe him ffs.Get a grip people tans been true to his word so far.
It'll be a sad day if tans forced out so stop worrying and concentrate on being fans and support the team, that's our job.
All this worrying is going to make you ill.

Can't beat a bit of double standards on here!

I choose to go to games, support my team, cheer and celebrate when we score/win, but also wear blue and chant blue army, Bluebirds, we'll always be blue etc. How is that double standards? I hate the rebrand, I hate us playing in red, I hate Vincent Tan for not making our promotion to the Premiership feel as special to me as it should have, but I will keep turning up and keep respectfully protesting to get our identity back as I cannot walk away.

Why can't I walk away? Because I love Cardiff City, my local team. The memories our club has given me are irreplaceable. I now go to games to support our club in spite of Tan, not because of him. I watch us now in the hope that one day, I can watch us at some point in the future in blue again with our proper identity, so I can experience more joy and more elation to give me more memories to treasure and look back on. I was here 20 plus years before Tan came and I will be here 20 plus years after Tan goes. I have supported us through the good and bad times, whatever the level. Right now is a bad time for me. Why? Because I don't really feel part of our club and I will always hate Tan for making me feel this way.

My favourite time supporting our club was the Eddie May era. I was a junior Bluebird, I was even a mascot for one game, and the whole community was united as one chanting Eddie May's barmy army, blue army and Bluebirds! I really felt part of my club then, there was a real passionate emotional connection, everyone was buzzing and the atmosphere was incredible. We were in the lower leagues, but supporting us was something to be proud of. Back then we had our blue, our Bluebird, our identity and the passionate Eddie May getting the fans united behind him. Those days were the best and those days were what I loved about being a City fan, I felt part of my club, my local club that I used to be proud of!

What we are currently going through now, despite Premiership football and possible future glories, will still never compare to how I felt back then! I will always support my club, but I may never feel like I did back then again because of what Tan has done. Tan can give us all the money, facilities and success he wants, but it still won't feel the same to me. The days I had a passionate emotional connection to my club have gone. What Tan has done has really upset me, yet when fans like me pour our emotions out, you have the nerve to say we have double standards for still wanting our team to win?

That's your opinion, but for me the colour and badge of every football club defines their identity. I will always be blue and I will always be a Bluebird. That's how I feel and nothing will ever change that.
