" UPDATE ON TRANSFER TARGETS "

Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:01 pm

Had a conversation this afternoon regarding a few of our transfer targets, firstly Victor Wanyama, apparently it has been reported that Wanyama traveled to Germany with Celtic but I can confirm he did not. Cardiff City made a bid of £10m for the player and as we now know got turned down but do not be surprised if an offer of £11m is accepted (if the figure is announced should the move be finalised) even though Southampton had an offer accepted of £12m.

Celtic accept that Wanyama is on the move and our club is confident they can secure the players signing.

Tom Ince, again it was said that we are confident that a deal is highly likely and that it is hoped to be completed by early next week. I was told that figure being bandied about is not correct and it is lower than £8m.

It has been reported that Swansea were in for Ince but I was told that it was nonsense and that Swansea have made no bid at all for the player.

I bumped a thread a day or so ago that I created on June 1st that we were looking at a player from Saint Etienne and in conversation I brought up the twitter rumour that we had bid £10m for Zouma, I was told that Zouma is a player that we have tracked but no bid had been made.

The other player spoken about was Cardozo and I asked if we have made a bid and the reply was that we had not and that the story came from foreign media asking Malky if he was aware of the player and his thoughts about him, from Malky's response a story was made.

John Brayford's name was mentioned to me today as well but not that a bid has been placed or anything just that he is a player on the radar still.

On the whole the conversation was encouraging and left me feeling positive that Wanyama and Ince will sign for the club, as I know things can and often do change quickly in football but I am confident of those two signing.

Ince - Malky's in talks with him so nothing new

Wanyama - On holidays still

Re: " UPDATE ON TRANSFER TARGETS "

Either or both of Ince and Wanyama would be nice. I think Wanyama would really be worth pushing the boat out for - he would fit well into the 4 1 4 1 system that Malky seems to like.

Lets keep our heads. There are now 59 days left till the transfer window closes.

Wanyama is flying out Friday if no deal has been agreed.

Wanyama back in the squad tomorrow never thought I'd hear those words again...

denis donnell ‏@donnell4celtic 43m
With big Wanyama meeting up with the rest of the squad tomorrow I wonder if Lennon will have a wee word in his ear about his agents.

I really hope the Ince deal comes off. Not so bothered about Wanyama though right now. Our aim is to stay up, and I don't think he's a must for that, when we have Whitts, Gunnar, Mutch and Kim Bo to play in the centre. Although I would definitely welcome the signing! :malky:

If both of them, Brayford and Zouma come off I'm buzzing!! :malky: :ayatollah:

If that 'update' is right - and that is a big 'if' - the only two items (not information) that haven't been reported to death in the press and messageboard comment are that we haven't bid for Zouma and that the offer to Blackpool for Tom Ince is less than the £8m reported everywhere over the past week or so.

Personally I don't believe any of it - but still enjoy the theatre of ITK updates on messageboards, and the likelihood that it is all invention doesn't worry me - so thanks!

According to the ITK man on the celtic forum, Wanyama travelled to Germany with the squad.?
Not that it makes much difference, his Agents will know exactly what he wants, and will deal with the enquiry obviously.
I would then assume once terms are met, THEN malky would like to meet with the player to show him the clubs plans. :ayatollah:

The Ince deal is apparently £6.5m + add ons

Personally I'd prefer Wanyama, over Ince! But both would be fantastic.

If Wanyama comes in I will be buzzing! Watched him for Celtic 4-5 times last season and he is awesome! I really feel he can be the difference next year. And he is still only 22 so even though the transfer fee is high - I think he will be well worth the money. Not sure about Tom Ince though. £8 million is too steep for me. Lets get a pacey winger for £2 million who can improve instead. Thinking about our potential starting XI i have goosebombs. Let's make it happen and finish in the top 15 and see the freaking Jacks sent back to the Championship - where we all know they belong!

All of this news has been in the Media and this forum for days. Not in the know just repeating what has already been said in my opinion.
