Closing in on 10,000 signatures on the petition.

' On the whole, football fans are becoming increasingly disillusioned.'

Forced to pay more and more to watch players who earn in a week what they get in a year.

As football becomes more corporate and less communal we, the fans, are becoming more politicised and keen for our voices to be heard.

Everton supporters slammed the introduction of a new badge that omitted the club’s motto.

Their vociferous opposition was followed with a promise that the new design will be replaced next season.

Bolton Wanderers were also forced to end a sponsorship deal with online money lender QuickQuid after 4,500 fans protested on ethical grounds, with the club admitting they "Underestimated the adverse reaction."

The Lancashire club quickly replaced Quick Quid with FibrLec, a local sustainable energy company.

So, where do Cardiff City fans fit into this supporter politics?

Step forward Sian Branson, who founded Bluebirds Unite three months ago.

Keen to maintain the club’s history, identity and pride post-rebrand, Ms Branson and her group made up of like-minded fans, have made huge strides in a short space of time.

“I got fed up of waiting for someone to do something,” Ms Branson told me when I caught up with her at Jolyons Hotel, in Cardiff.

“Every single person I speak to would rather play in blue.

"It felt like I was the only one (rejecting red), but when I started this group, I found that certainly wasn't the case.”

Keen to differentiate between the change of colour and the championship-winning campaign, Ms Branson acknowledges: “The team and their achievements are separate from the rebrand.

"What should be the club’s greatest achievement feels hollow and tainted.

"I cried when they got promoted, but they were not tears of joy."

With a committee of 13 fans dotted around Wales, Bluebirds Unite do not condone anti-Vincent Tan sentiment, but are keen to demonstrate that they are willing to fight for a return to blue.

“If you don’t stand up and show that blue is still important, you can’t blame Vincent Tan for thinking that we no longer care.” Ms Branson claims.

Despite their peaceful ethos, the group has encountered hostility from some, but Sian is determined to stand her ground.

She said: “I’m not giving up and walking away.

"I don’t like bullying.

"We have encountered opposition but we are here to ensure that you don’t have to feel intimidated for wearing blue.”

With a petition containing close to 10,000 signatures, the group has already staged a gathering at Cardiff Castle and a meeting at The Corporation, which was attended by more than 600 fans.

They have plenty more events planned, but need more support to do so.

“There are people that want Premier League football in Cardiff, rather than Cardiff City in the Premier League.

"Bluebirds Unite is a celebration. You should feel pride, not shame, for wearing blue.”

As Cardiff fans eagerly anticipate a Premier League campaign and the arrival of new signings, Bluebirds Unite are there for the fans that are unwilling to support a red Cardiff City or are becoming increasingly disillusioned, despite the success of the team. They are a group deserving of your support.

No because if they were given the choice between red and blue they would choose Blue.

TBH there was a pathetic use of the victim card "I don't like bullying"

It's not bullying Sian it is a different view. Just because someone doesn't think what you are doing is in the best interest of CCFC and says so then I'm sorry that's not bullying that's being honest.

The only actual verbal abuse I have heard of was from the Facebook mob who hissed at families wearing red. So even if BU have been bullied (which I don't believe for one minute) then there is also another story to be told and she should concentrate on cutting out that nonsense from her side before complaining.

I personally think the Supporters Trust were on the right track with that survey they conducted a few months back. It didn't harm anyone, was not confrontational but did the job of keeping the blue issue alive until a better time for change materialises.

Bluebirds Unite will eventually fold no matter how hard they try as they are scared by the "Against Modern Football" banners and pictures of well known hooligans all drinking together at the Corporation Pub meeting.

I'm not saying that's right but perception is everything and they simply will forever be associated with that no matter how much they protest differently, plus while we are successful there will be no appetite for a confrontation with Tan.

I can't say the red doesn't bother me because it does. But the club going bankrupt (or even being on the verge of bankruptcy week on week) bothers me more than anything. That's why I tolerate red for now and I am willing to sit it out for now.

I thought I had explained why in my post. :? It will fold because it has a glass ceiling of support. The vast majority of fans simply aren't interested in the issue. Yes 10000 might have signed the petition but you wouldn't get any where near that taking direct action against the club.

As for the blue day, well done I can't fault it. However, most of us wear blue any way...

Tony you know why the term bullying comes from. If not let me refresh you.

During the first KCB meeting a certain individual was threatened with the word " I will bury you". The aggressor of that incidenthas been defended by another certain individual over this. The same defending individual then tried to defend himself when he stood up to someone else who spoke with the words "Whats your problem". This happened at another event. I believe now you know the stories. Sian is referring to these incidents in her statement and is making it very clear she will not be bullied by certain individuals who think they can use the defence card when it suits them.

The only actual verbal abuse I have heard of was from the Facebook mob who hissed at families wearing red. So even if BU have been bullied (which I don't believe for one minute) then there is also another story to be told and she should concentrate on cutting out that nonsense from her side before complaining.

Besides the above incident I have personally myself been attacked by a certain individual very firmly in this red camp. Although the incident was nothing to do with the rebrand it is without doubt the same tactics would be used if the subject was brought up face to face.

I personally think the Supporters Trust were on the right track with that survey they conducted a few months back. It didn't harm anyone, was not confrontational but did the job of keeping the blue issue alive until a better time for change materialises.

Really Tony because it feels to me the Trust stance on supporting the blue has been forgotten.

Bluebirds Unite will eventually fold no matter how hard they try as they are scared by the "Against Modern Football" banners and pictures of well known hooligans all drinking together at the Corporation Pub meeting.

Organisations make mistakes and it is how they overcome them that matter. You judging straight from the off will help tbh as it will give more of an incentive to be successful.

Personally my judgement on BU being successful will come a lot clear come the start of the season. Lets hope we see this wave of blue this time.

I'm not saying that's right but perception is everything and they simply will forever be associated with that no matter how much they protest differently, plus while we are successful there will be no appetite for a confrontation with Tan.

Time will tell but whatever happens at least the BU supporters can say they have been true to the blue.
