The New QPR???

Sat Jun 29, 2013 7:26 am

I've heard many say on here in the last few days that we're the new QPR but i think the only way we resemble them is the fact that we seem to be looking to spend a lot of money.
Malky's ethos hasn't changed and it's not as if he's just signing every tom, dick and harry just for the sake of it. Malky's dossiers are as important now as they were 2 years ago.
I believe the problem for QPR wasn't that they spent a lot of money but rather that they wasted a lot of money on shit!

Exactly, and the players malky is buying young and talented, their price will only increase as they improve, and they will not be on stupid wages like 60% ofthe qpr team

A lot of money that the club itself cannot afford to bear without a benefactor. You say QPR spent a lot of money on shit, yet you have no idea how your transfers will turn out. I for one would not be comfortable with signing the likes of Tom Ince and other untested kids for £8 million +

Re: The New QPR???

Sat Jun 29, 2013 7:33 am

It wasn't the money they spent but the fact they lost sight of the importance of a team and how players fit with each other. They just bought about 15 individuals including a few simply looking for a last big payday and then couldn't mould a team.

We've signed one player and will probably only get another 4. The two scenarios couldn't be further apart :ayatollah: :malky:

Re: The New QPR

Sat Jun 29, 2013 7:34 am

Quite right. As far as i can see Malky has to justify to Tan why x amount needs to be spent on each player and its not just s case of signing a "named" player.

It appears Malky really does have the trust of VT and that is so important. Its as if Malky's first season with no money was like a test, then the second where it was said he was urged to spend but didnt feel we needed to in Jan apart from Campbell really made Tan believe he wont just spend cos its there.

Those 2 together (Tan and Malky) are forming a formidable team

The fact he was the top goalscoring midfielder in La Liga, a similar quality league, gave me a fair idea yeah. however at £2m it was hardly a gamble.

that's never a true word said Craig, Malky is one hell of a manager that can only get better and better :ayatollah:

Exactly, malky is building a core to fit round the orginal team not dismantling the team like qpr did.

Roathy I dont detect any concern for cardiff city in your post but rather a little bit of fear for your tin pot over acheivers!
Remember last time we met you were the underdogs and we were the ones expected to walk the league.
now the shoe is on the other foot and we are the challengers and it will be interesting how you handle that pressure.

When someone is a billionaire they can afford to make big investments to make even more money.
None of us, including you know tans plan but I for one am not gonna worry about something I cant do nothing about.

fair enough you did get a bargain as it turned out but how often will any team do that again, including you? Even you must admit that the way Malky goes about his business is 2nd to none so I trust his signings 100% no matter how much that player costs. We will see if Cornelius will be worth the money spent.

I think this Bony guy is a risk, any1 remember alfonso alves, he had a better record than Bony in the dutch league and he was shit at middlesborough, i for one will be happy when swansea waste 12 million on this guy and he s shite

Well we have done it all over the park not just with Michu. Ashley Williams cost 400k and he is now worth £10m. Dyer was signed for 500k, Tiendalli was a free and is now a dutch international, Vorm was £1.5m and is one of the best keepers in the prem, taylor was 150k from Wrexham, Chico was £2m.

Ive heard a lot about this 'the way malky goes about his business' but im not entirely sure what it means. Hes in his first prem season and is on the verge of signing 2 untested 20 year olds for £16m+ an amount not too dissimilar to what we paid for our whole squad pretty much, which went on to win a major trophy, qualify for Europe and never be in a relegation fight against all odds.

Re: The New QPR???

Besides michu and vorm all those other players are shit, williams is not worth 10million thats why no fuka wants to buy him bcoz he s overpriced, and that dyer is exactly that dire

I must agree with you on what you say apart from Ashley Williams
All we can do is wait and see and hope that Malky as hit the jackpot like you have

I don't think we resemble QPR one bit....we are buying wisely, we have a good infrastructure and we won the championship properly.

Re: The New QPR???

Sat Jun 29, 2013 7:54 am

Ridiculous isn't it. We spend 8million on one player & suddenly we are the new QPR. What a load of bullshit. Southampton spent even more than that on Gaston, yet nobody calls them the same?

Bitter Jacks worrying about their status as best current team in Wales.

Re: The New QPR???

I'll give credit for players signed when in the PL for good value e.g. Michu, but claiming players that were signed when in league 1 / championship like Williams, Taylor and dyer isn't quite the same. Yes they've stepped up but nobody thought about the PL at the time

Exactly chucks, southampton spent 12 large on gaston, but they done what we hope to do, buy a few quality players to mix in with the existing squad, it done them well so why not us.

So signing the top scoring midfielder in spain is better work than signing a young welsh player from non league who was superb in the championship and got better in the pl and shone for team gb out of position. Everbody knew about michu hardly the unknown. And those of us with an ounce of sense good see that taylor, dyer and williams would be able to step up to the pl. In much the same way you lot feel kimbo and mutch will

I think its aimed at the transfer rumours aswell as the signing of the dane.

Wanyama, Ince and the Dane will set you back nearly £30 million. not to mention the names that have surfaced today. The link also goes with the crazy Malaysian chairman who thinks money solves all when the club itself is financially up shite creek..

However nobody can say you are the next QPR until the season is underway.

Re: The New QPR???

Sat Jun 29, 2013 8:04 am

Jackf you wouldn't have signed those players thinking about the premiership, because you weren't even dreaming of premiership football until late on in that season you got promoted. Those players were already well established at the club.

That's like us saying we signed Mason for future premiership football, when that would be total bollocks.

If we didn't believe they would make the step up then we wouldn't have had them in our side come the prem season kicking off. Its much better business and foresight to get Williams for 400k who has been the rock of our defence for 5 years plucked from League 2 than to buy the top goalscoring midfielder in La Liga for £2m.
