New additions for the premier league

Thu Jun 27, 2013 3:46 pm

For argument sake, if we had Wanyama , Kuyt and Ince to an already strong midfield, another striker to rotate with Campbell, Maynard and Cornelius. Possibly a Mendy type full back and Yobo at centre back, then things would be looking very nice approaching our first season in the top flight

That's got to be about 45 to 50 million quids worth and that's just fees.

One quote I was given a month or two ago from someone at the club

"Whatever Malkys ambition is, Vincent will match it"

The 25m was a smokescreen I'd say

I never believed in the 25 million statement either high or low. Tan was put on the spot just after we were promoted.

Tan said 25m, but he knew full well what he was doing - he knew that we'd spend more, possibly double.

Tan isn't an idiot who would reveal the budget to the watching world!

If for arguments sake, we DID somehow manage to sign all those players, I don't even think we'd be a bottom half team!

Spot on. He is a millionaire (X?). He either got there by:

1. being lucky in red
2. High waisted (low chest fitting) trousers distracting rivals in business dealings
3. Being a very good businessman who kept things tight (especially in doing deals).

Have you ever heard of Howard Hughes?

Citygent - All due respect your info always good you get my tinternet props

My question is that I thought I'd read that Gomis was the only name you'd read in the media and heard as being a real target, to your knowledge. Is he still on the cards?

Nice one, thanks

The last I heard Gomis thinks he's good enough to play for a team in the champions league. He was definitely high up on Malkys list, and although doubtful, I wouldn't write it off just yet mate

I agree Craig. There are plenty of Liverpool fans that would love kuyt back!!

Come to think of it they want ince too

I have thought that since we were linked with these players and sign them we are going to have a stronger squad than west ham for first game

The fact we've been confirmed moves with £26m worth of players proves the £25m budget was a lie.

£10m we've offered for Wanyama
We've had £8.5m sent for Ince
and £8m for Cornelius

And linked with Yobo, Barnett,Williamson, Kuyt,

I've been reading posts on this forum for several months now, and a lot of the stuff on here is enjoyable, although more than rumours. But there's nothing wrong with that, we're all very excited about our first season in the Prem.
my Dad took me to my first game when I was 5- I'm now 42, so do the maths- but living in Birmingham and having a young family, I don't get back as much as I'd like to but try.
I was lucky enough to live next door to one of City's un-named players in the early '80's, and am still close friends with him as are my season ticket holding Sad & brother. This former player still works at CCS on match days.
Now, I spoke to him at Christmas when I last saw him and these were his words-
"Tan is the real deal- IF we get promoted, he isn't messing about, he's going for it. He's already had associates of his visit the club for one of the matches. These guys weren't some fly-by-night jokers, we're talking Arabs. They were invited with the specific intention of viewing the club, stadium and new plans for training facilities with a view to investment in the football club if and when we get to the Premier League".
Well, we're there and we're on the up, big time. £8m today, pretty much straight out of the blue, wait another week I think we'll see Ince & Wanyama signed up- MM is a shrewd guy, he knows exactly what he's doing, I reckon there's a few surprises to come. As some of you have already said- £25m is just a smokescreen- if you start shouting about howuch money you've got
The Jacks can go on as much as they like, let's see who's really laughing in 5 years time.
