Re: Mike Williamson waiting to sign

hope not,as centre backs go he aint the best and we need to be looking at better than him, wish malky would stop bringing in players just cos they have played for him,he wouldnt be good enough for us in this league .

Re: Mike Williamson waiting to sign

I think people have to realise that we are not, yet, at the point where we can attract 4 top quality centre backs particularly when they wouldn't be 1st choice.

If Williamson signed he would arguably 4th or maybe even 5th choice here behind Hudson, Turner, Connelly and Barnett (if he signs). He would merely be a replacement for Nugent who just isn't ready for the Prem yet.

Not all the players we sign will walk into the the first XI and MM will just be ensuring that he has reliable/experienced back-up should things go wrong, e.g. injury, suspensions, etc.

On that basis Williamson would be a solid signing.

Barnett was the same at Norwich.

Cheap, premier league experience, knows Malky well, I think it would be a good addition for our squad :ayatollah:

Okay signing I guess, would have preferred Barnett but oh well.

After all the names you've been talking about on here I would piss myself if your first signing was this donkey :D

Mot so much your first just the fact that this is the level you are looking to buy , sends out a cracking message to the fans don't you think ?

Just like when you signed Scheckter/Bartley et al?

Re: Mike Williamson waiting to sign

Wed Jun 26, 2013 11:37 am

some people forget the most important concept in football - give him a chance malky thinks he can do a job,

hes not been playing week in week out so he wouldnt be as sharp or able to play a well under pressure he could come here and do a fantastic job,
look at barnett overlooked by a club like norwich

Hudson used to be a donkey then malky got hold of him

shekter was a loan ,they were signed as back-up though to a team which was already premier standard , you are a fair way off competing in the prem with your current squad and you're looking to buy a 4th choice CB from a team who were fighting relegation last season :D

Williamson could well be back up to Hudson & Turner. Just ensures if one is injured we have good replacements.

You still signed him & he was a back up to a front line which was way off premiership standard.

Who is to say that this lad won't be used as back up to a CB which will be signed? Hudson and Turner can both do a job in the premiership... Possibly not as a partnership, but can do a decent job for me.

if im honest, im not overly confident on any of our defenders.

I think Taylor can do a decent job at LB, and can see Hudson starting, but struggling this season.

we need a quality CB, like swansea had with Caulker.

But he will be 4th choice behind Hudson, Turner and Connolly so as a 4th choice centre back I think he would fit the bill.

Don't forget you had Mr Alan Tate as your 3rd/4th choice, are you seriously telling me Williamson is significantly worse than him

Williamson is being lined up as 4th or even 5th choice so in that regard I don't think it's a bad signing.

I dont know why people are even biting at what waddle has said. He knows f**k all about football and his poor little mind is clogged up with Cardiff obsession. Why is he so worried about our signings is beyond me. Having said that why he feels the need to even be on a Cardiff city messsge board is further beyond me.

Worry about your own team sunshine were doing and will do fine.

I'd have taken Curtis Davies over Williamson, especially at the price Hull got him for. That was a chanc missed

Don't be silly , we didn't buy Tate for the prem did we , we showed a bit of loyalty to a long serving player for our promotion season

No but he took up a wage and squad place so you simply can't take him out of the equation. You kept him on as 4th choice and he simply wasn't up to the job and couldn't hold a candle to a player like Williamson who has significant Prem experience.

Don't skew the argument to suit the answers you have because you are beginning to make yourself look pretty stupid.

Let's put this in simple comparitive terms for you. Are you really saying that the four CBs you had in Williams, Monk, Tate with late addition of Caulker was significantly stronger in depth than Hudson, Turner, Connolly and Williamson/Barnett ?

If you are then the conversation ends. I wouldn't agree with you but it's all about opinions.
