Nathan Cleverly vs Kovalev - Sat 17th Aug @ Motorpoint Arena

Sun Jun 23, 2013 7:25 pm

For any boxing fans, you'll probably be aware that Nathan Cleverly is next fighting against big hitting Sergey Kovalev at the Motorpoint arena on Sat 17th August and as always, if anyone wants tickets then give me a shout. Face value as always and none of those annoying booking fees etc.

Tickets, priced at £40, £50, £70, £100 & £150 for Ringside. We will be hoping to get our batch soon and will post details of what we have once received!

The show will also feature Enzo Maccarinelli who will challenge for a light-heavyweight championship title on the card as builds towards a second world title shot.

A talent-stacked undercard features some of the best young Welsh prospects including Blackwood super-featherweight Craig Evans; Tonypandy welterweight Lewis Rees and Clydach Vale middleweight Liam Williams. Ely star Francis Luke Robinson, son of former WBO World Featherweight Steve, fights plus Maesteg middleweight Aled Cook will make his professional debut on the show.

We'll also be potentially arranging a meet up on the day for a few pints in the afternoon as this proved successful last time around.

Also - As per the last time, we'll hopefully be doing an open day for fans to come and watch Nathan train and do a bit of sparring in the lead up to the fight. Hope to see some of you there.

I'll post any further details when they become available regarding any further match ups, meeting point etc.

As always, just gimme a shout if i've missed anything!

Thanks :ayatollah:

Yep. Massive risk fight but this will be the fight that get Clev out there. Kovalev is heavily backed by American firm HBO so his is Clevs chance to shine.

Expect fireworks.

Just booked the angel hotel, my missis said she wants to go watch it, so I'm not complaining! thinking of getting ringside seats £150 is there a VIP option? Or is it just ringside seats? :ayatollah:

Think its just Ringside unfortunately. ..... Good thing about the Motorpoint is that there's not really a bad seat in the arena. Be about 6k absolutely packed into there. Will be a great night.

Cardiff get their first 3 points as a prem team in the afternoon and Clev wins in style in the night!!

Booked my ticket via Ticketmaster earlier they charged me £11 worth of charges. Quite annoying these charges. Why didn't you post your thread earlier.

We appreciate the frustration but Clev will literally fight anyone. Thats never been questioned and its been harder to get the bigger fights than most people will know. Hopefully this will be a stepping stone to bigger things. 17th August is a massive night in the career of Clev and hopefully plenty will be there to support him. :ayatollah:

Come on Clev!!! This is going to be a great fight, he needs to get with Matchroom. Frank Warren just doesn't get the fights he deserves

i was critical of Calzaghe for years cos he seemed happy to pick up the pay check and go home without facing the best in the world that was part cos he was seen as someone to avoid though and he proved to have the best chin in boxing when he did get tagged. Kovalev is more dangeros to Cleverley than Kessler was to JC. Kovalev has a very good jab too. Biggest fight he'll have i think cos if he can get past this fellers concusive power theres nobody left for him to fear huge huge test. G'waaaan Nathan!!

An undercard fight that's been announced and that'll be a war and will be appreciated by boxing fans -

Wales's Gary Buckland vs Scotland's John Simpson.

Tickets will be available from tomorrow!

We have a few hundred x £40 tickets, about 100 x £50 tickets and a couple of dozen of the £150 ringsides tickets.

If anyone is interested then just PM me and we can sort! Can happily cater for large groups as well which you sometimes struggle to do with Ticketmaster as they limit the number of tickets you can buy in one go etc.

After all promoters going through boxnation and teaming against hearn. Will we see fights slipped in on the undercard from hatton, maloney etc?

The likes of Maloney and Hatton in particular were royally f*cked off by Hearn/Sky when they took away their sky dates and therefore their fighters were having no exposure as they had no TV deal in place....now they are working with Boxnation so they have been given a platform to showcase their stable of fighters and hopefully it'll mean a better quality of undercards etc that we the fans get to see.

Unsure exactly how it'll work initially but I can imagine a mixture of their fighters being on the same shows without too much issue. alternatively if Hatton was to ant to do a show on his own...he now has Boxnation to show it on. Win win in my opinion.

Yep agree. Matchroom get there fighters out very often, as they have a pick of fight dates I guess Hearn doesn't pay great purses to his fighers, but keeps them active and money ticking in that way and garrentees exposure through sky for them. But it works, hope that this undercard gets a few fighters thrown in from the other promoters now.

Happy to confirm that we now have £40 and £50 tickets in hand and readily available for anyone that wants to attend the fight.

3 points for City in their first game in the Prem and Clev to win in the evening. Carlsberg don't do Saturdays but if they did....

Any news on why gav Rees looked so bad on the scales yesterday? Watching the fight now and expect Rees to win well, but he looked terrible in the weigh in?

Gav looked even worse in the fight itself!! perhaps the Broner fight was his last big attempt at glory. Catches up with us all in the end. I think Gavin shud retire. great pro, but why torture himself any more

Yeah I watched it, looked out on his feet by round 3. has he gone back to his bad diet ways, missing training again. Not that i could see lockett allowing that...and crolla is an average fighter who burns will stop in 3.

I think he just fought an inspired Crolla. and Rees had a really off night!
