' Latest on Wanyama / Southampton deal collapsed '

Sun Jun 23, 2013 12:00 pm

23rd June 2013

Malky ready to go back for Wanyama's.

VICTOR Wanyama’s proposed move to Southampton collapsed last night after the midfielder failed to agree personal terms.

The Premiership club were given permission to open talks with the 21-year-old Kenyan after Celtic accepted a fee close to £12million.

MailSport can reveal Wanyama’s representatives were far from impressed by the deal on offer and Saints know and Saints know they will have to significantly increase the personal terms to have any hope of signing him.

We can also reveal Wanyama has a positive feeling about interest from Cardiff and hopes the Welsh club also have a bid accepted.

Malky Mackay is desperate to sign the Celtic star but his club may see a fee of around £11m as their limit. Wanyama is in no rush to leave Parkhead and won’t be forced to go unless the deal suits him.

Sounds positive. IMO would be a great signing but I don't want is paying 12 mill for him. About half of that I would say, 8 mill at a push!

Wanyama just keeping the interest in him high profile hoping for a bid from Liverpool.

Wouldn't be surprised if Soton bid the most but Celtic have to accept less from elsewhere.

Spoke with a tic fan and was like "goes missing at times,we wouldn't miss him". he also added "Joe is the best Footballer at the club, but he doesn't rate Matthews"

Personally ive seen Victor play several times and he is just the type of player we need for the bolstering of our midfield. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Haha sounds like that fella is just bitter cos it looks like he's off, and to say joe Ledley is better than him lmao, wanyama looks quality, Man U and Liverpool have been interested in him previously why weren't they looking at joe Ledley instead then if he was the best footballer at the club, that guy sounds full of shit no offence

In fairness I would be happy if any one of them come off. But maybe one of them comes off and gets the ball rolling.

Aye but Tan is only giving malky 25 mill. Would you want to be spending close to half of that on a single unproven player when we need IMO at least 4/5 quality players who will cost 5 million plus?

Joe ledley, loovens, mathews all hold the key to this one.If they can put a good word in about us then they might just brainwash him into coming here!

Our midfield is looking very tasty, most of our midfielders are very young as well so a long time to work with each other. Wow if we pull it off

Looks like they already might have put a word in with wanyama saying he fancies cardiff and hope cardiff get a bid accepted. I think if we sign him it will be a better signing than both ince and gomis because he would add real steel to the team and would make life difficult for a lot of the attacking quality we will be up against in the prem

Im not complaining and yes the midfield could be looking great but our mid was already strongest part of the team. Rather us be after fbs chs and prem quailty forwards tbh. Still, in malky we trust, he built us a top championship defence after we were leaky as f**k under jones

Sign Ince for £8m.

Then smash our own record signing Wanyama for £10m.

:D :D :D

Isn't Pablo Hernandez of Swansea City the current incoming Welsh transfer fee record at around £6m?

we are 7/1 to sign Wanyama. Worth a cheeky £10

My worry is this is teh same as their Ramirez deal. Apparently that was off too and then suddenly it was back on and they announced he had signed. I just think this is an agent trying to rinse them for more money. Hope we sign him and im wrong but this comes across as playing the game than any benefit to us.

They're moving to different targets so I guess we can close in, Liverpool have enough quality and Everton don't have a pot to piss in
