ANSWERS TO CCFC TICKET QUESTIONS

Thu Jun 20, 2013 7:25 pm

West Ham away and every man and his dog who follow Cardiff City hope to be there for the first Premier League away fixture.

Our club has always tried to reward the fans who attend the most away matches with the best possible chance of getting a ticket for the 'big draw' games, West Ham is a 'big draw' game to us fans simply because it is the first in the PL.

There will undoubtedly be a Travel Group meeting before the season starts but I am going to give my opinion on what I think will happen regarding the distribution of tickets for the West Ham game and subsequent away games.

I believe the club will look at how many fans travelled to a certain amount of games and will base the number of games attended as a qualifying criteria for a West Ham ticket.

At the end of last season, to qualify for a Hull ticket you had to have attended two or more away games, we had an allocation of 2,200 for the game at the KC Stadium and a little over 2,000 City fans had attended two or more away games.

I believe our allocation for West Ham will be similar to that of Hull.

So I would imagine that the qualifying criteria will be at least 2 away games last season but possibly 3.

I believe the strategy of using last season's away following will be used for the first 4 away games, after that then future away games will be based on what games you have travelled to this season.

I am still having people ring/text me saying that Premier seat holders are getting the option to buy 4 tickets per away game, I have said it before and will repeat again, at previous Travel Club meetings we have been told this is not true. There are folks in the Premier Seats who qualify like many of us do as regular away fans but the notion of them being able to snap up four tickets at a time is way off the mark.

' HOME GAME TICKETS '

Another topic that some fans have not got to grips with fully is the 'buy back' scheme on offer this coming season.

If you have bought a season ticket and like me you have paid £329 for it then you are paying £17.31 per game for the 19 games in the Premier League season.

If you know you cannot attend a game in advance you can sell that seat for the game back to the club for 50% of the season ticket match value, so you will receive £8.65 back and this will be given as a credit off your season ticket for the following season.

So it works like this, my season ticket price, divided by the number of PL games, divided by two, equals the amount refunded to a season ticket for the following season.

(£329 / 19 = £17.31 / 2 = £8.65)

This information has been put out by the club and I am trying to help others understand the scheme if they do not already.

Thanks for the update Carl. Sounds fair enough to me. People who went to away games last season should get priority for the early season games this time round. Amazing how many people's 'family and work commitments' seem to have evaporated now that we are in the PL.

So how do memberships come into this?

I've been to almost every home game in the last two years (through selling 50/50 tickets), but never been to an away game. I've moved back to London and bought gold membership so I can get to any game I can.

By you reckoning, I've got no chance of getting a ticket, even though I've shelled out £40 for the privilege of getting a chance of buying one?

But what if they aren't season tickets holders as many of the away fans who travelled last season and don't have season tickets will be bottom of the list

Fair point. My niece had away travel membership last season, but no ST. Cost £20. She went to a few aways with me, more than Carl's estimate for qualifying for WHU away. Imperfect as it is, and double the price at £40, the Gold Membershio seems her best option. Got an ST myself, but whenever other family members wanted to come to a home game, we booked well in advance. The 'dynamic pricing' meant that tickets were cheaper that way. Obviously, this season, prices will be higher. Gold members will have to be very quick off the mark. As the stadium is so small, the days of buying tickets on the day, or even in the week before a game, are over. Sad, but true. STs were on open sale in February, with interest-free credit. Until the ground capacity is increased, or we get relegated, this problem will not go away. Problems of success, and growth, I suppose.

Personally, I miss the Championship already. Not joking either!

Just a quick question Carl, any idea if for the first few games they use the away games attended last season rule if away members who meet the criteria will be able to access tickets or will it go straight to st holders with a lower away total from last year? Cheers

Not to take the piss here but after the first 4 they stop the qualifying from last season.

If they base away games this season for Swansea that is a joke.

Couldnt sell out the 2500 hull tickets that were on offer last season but supporters still think their attendance at games from last season should give them priority - what a load of bollocks.

If what carl suggests is true then fans who went to a certain amount of matches last year get priority for 1st few games of this season (which is fair enough) but then other away games priority goes to people who have gone to 1st few away matches (which by logic will be the same people offered West Ham tickets) so basically in this free market when all is equal and 20,000 plus have shelled out on a season ticket, around 17000 of those have no chance of getting an away match ticket, and as for Gold members, it may as well be called 'f**k you but thanks for your £40 anyway' membership.

20 something thousand people who have paid the same price on their season tickets deserve equal chance of getting tickets, whether you like it or not (as when selling these season tickets no form of priority is mentioned in terms and conditions) so the club 'could' be taken to court if they alter this stance.

Also in another post on this thread it's suggested that just being on Carls bus will get you a ticket. Just stinks of 'inner circle' favouritism and total inequality over how many games some may have gone to last season.

The club, selling the dream of Premiership football, have said that Season Ticket holders have priority on away match tickets and to add at a later date the caveat of previous attendance at away games giving 'extra' priority would be a breach of contract / terms and conditions of sale.

gotta agree there wiv this gold membership i know of a few ppl whove paid £40 they think the tickets home & away r a dead cert after explaining the home tickets were about a 1 in 3 chance away no chance less than amused they wer but what do the club care its just money makeing for em

"At the end of last season, to qualify for a Hull ticket you had to have attended two or more away games, we had an allocation of 2,200 for the game at the KC Stadium and a little over 2,000 City fans had attended two or more away games.

I believe our allocation for West Ham will be similar to that of Hull."

Upton Park capacity is apparently 36,016

So if we are looking at the 3,000 or 10% of capacity for away ticket allocation in the Premier League (not sure exactly how it works) how can the allocation at West Ham be similar to the Hull City allocation of 2,200 ? Surely we should get 3,000 or 3,600 ?

Re: ANSWERS TO CCFC TICKET QUESTIONS

Fri Jun 21, 2013 9:58 am

We wont get 3,000 for west ham because of the old bill etc, we will get 2,200 tops

And to the bloke that says well after the first 4 games then the away tickets will go to the same people who went to the first 4 then why wouldnt it? what was u going to do wait until the 5th away game of the season then try and get tickets?

brizzle
forest
leicester
blackpool
wolves
peterboro
hull

will do me nicley :ayatollah: all 19 prem grounds here i come

Re: ANSWERS TO CCFC TICKET QUESTIONS

Fri Jun 21, 2013 10:00 am

also another thing, ur saying 20,000 season ticket holders should have the chance of getting a ticket? well havent they had that for the last 6/7 years? its funny how people are now starting to have bigger bank balances and no family commimentents now we are in the prem league, if we was going to places like barnet etc i would still fork out for a ticket even if i didnt have the money. the rules are right, the people who have dug deep for the last few years should get 1st choice
