I think its the only chance you will have of getting a league ticket.
If I didnt have a ST ticket id 100% go for it.

im in the same boat mate, cant afford a st and play football most days the games are on so im lucky if i can get to 5/6 home games a year. unfortunately now that looks even less but you have to get the gold to be in with any chance. so looks like ill be making a few away trips this year hopefully to make up for it!

Think of it this way, you never had the funds to get a ST so you would always be competing for others for tickets.

In theory this new memebership will help you massively to get tickets, now your just competing with other gold members, before this scheme it would have been an unlimited amount of people supporting both cardiff and away teams.

Yes its more expensive this way but you have a much better chance of tickets :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Gold card memberships

Depends. If you plan on taking anyone else they have to have a gold membership to.

Go for it mate.

I've got a season ticket, if not I'd have gone for it.

Prices for Swansea/Man Utd/Chelsea should be interesting.

By the way, does anyone know the away allocations for each club?

Re: Gold card memberships

I think that the idea to charge £40 is a disgrace. £40 just to have the eligibility to buy a ticket which will no doubt be extremely expensive just stinks.
What if you have a family with kids or teenagers? I did not notice a junior price and I don't suppose you can order a few tickets on one membership so for the family it will cost a fortune. Welcome to modern football. :ayatollah:

TBH with you mate I'm not sure how long us season ticket holders will be able to continue.

OK prices are brilliant ATM and there is still one year left on the price freeze, but after that I can see them shooting up in price and how long before the average fan is priced out?

i bought two online on sunday night as i missed the boat on season tickets and having watched city for 40 years in the bottom 3 divisions i plan to see us in the top division even if i only get tickets for one game :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Gold card memberships

I'm amazed more people didn't try to beg steal and borrow to get season tickets. With the interest free it was a no brained, that £40 being paid now is a monthly installment.

My dad is in the same position as you, has supported city for 30 odd years but can't afford a ST. He purchased the gold membership for £40 on the weekend and although he won't get a ticket for every game he'll be able to see a few like. So if I was you I would get one :ayatollah:

Two years and the "average" is priced out. I paid around six quid or so for tickets for the Levski CSKA derby match in Sofia, bought on the day, took one of our translators as she hadn't been to a game before. I'll put some photos one day. Levski won the match.

As for Gold Members?

Was it Midas that asked the gods, that his wish was for everything he touched turned to Gold? Most nubile lovely ladies on the planet getting their kit off and yer knob turns to gold? How the feck can you do what is required of gentleman when one has goldbar as a willy?

Gold member, I'd rather not thank mr Tan.

As a slight aside didn't our Shirl sing Gold Member or Finger? I digress.

Again please may I ask that the above is not copied to CCMB.

So lets get this right, you pay £40 per person for the right to buy a ticket that is not guaranteed. You then have to wait until a month before the fixture and then ring up on that day and try and get through to the CCS ticket office and spend the next hour on the phone in the hope that there are tickets left for you to purchase. Even if you are lucky enough to get a ticket then I doubt that you will have a great deal of choice where you sit, so if you took your kids then it would be doubtful if you will all get to sit together and you would end up paying a fortune for a the privilege. How anyone thinks that this is a good deal is beyond me.

Good idea Paul, its free and live on numerous internet links. I dont' have to line Tan's pocket, I don't have to fork out £40 just for the right to buy a ticket, I don't have to waste and hour of my life in a telephone queue just to purchase a ticket, I don't have to pay a fortune for a ticket,I don't have to try and park and then spend the next hour or two getting home, I will have a better view, I can open my fridge and have cut price refreshments instead of being ripped off down the CCS, the family will have comfy seats and we are guaranteed to sit together and I will not have Dai Hunt bellowing in my ear. Many thanks Paul you have managed to convince me. :ayatollah:

I can't justify buying a ST where I live, and will definitely not be lining Tan's pocket with £40, which gives me nothing in return besides a 'chance' to get a ticket. Home matches perhaps, but away games, which I prefer?! No chance at all. 20k ST holders will swallow all away allocations.

I'll keep my £40 thanks.

Re: Gold card memberships

Its a con.

Just a way to generate more money but this time without giving a guarantee.

Re: Gold card memberships

Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:04 am

Ive got a gold membership now. People are talking about being in a long phoneline queue when tickets are released but surely you can attempt to purchase online as soon as they are released?

Re: Gold card memberships

Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:09 am

It has to be a personal decision, £40 is a lot of money for a scheme that doesn't actually guarantee a ticket...but without the membership tickets will be impossible to get..it also covers away tickets so it takes away the former £20 away membership fee.

Agreed, the club has to take advantage and make money off the fans, regardless of the dictatorship in control, it was always going to happen.

But anyone spending this £40, thinking they are going to get an away ticket is seriously deluded.
