Can't we get a huge flag?!

Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:17 pm

I've travelled a bit in recent years watching football around europe and the one thing that always leaves me frustrated is the atmosphere in the curva's compared to ours.
I honestly believe we need more colour, more passion and a huge flag to cover a block of the canton before each game.
I'm thinking something like every badge we have ever played under or kit in it's different guises as a surround with one big badge in the middle (our badge with the bluebird in the middle with the dragon and the daffodil above it) as a huge centre piece.
Ideally I'd love to see everyone who likes to make a racket in one stand but I do think that this would be a start.

I am envious. :thumbright:

Would love to do the Classico.

My mate went to Milan derby this year, with City Gent, and I am gutted I didnt get the coin together to go with.

We need a standing kop behind one of the goals, when and if it is built, they must employ an acoustics architect so the design & building materials amplify the sound instead of soaking it up.

The Classico was shit mate, I wouldn't bother. I was in the away end with the Barca fans and they didnt have any lads whatsoever. We even went up the same escalators with the madrid fans! I left with 20 minutes to go.

The Turkish ones were the best by a mile, absolutely insane!
Besiktas is the loudest ground I've been to by some considerable margin.

My barber is a Turk, Fenerbache fan, he said the whole match day experience out there is something else.

He said they go up the gorund several hours before kick off to get the atmosphere going.

It was an experience I'll never forget mate. We didnt have any tickets when we got to the ground 6 ours before kick off and it was f*cking mayhem. There were about 40k people outside the ground.
I tried to see if I could spot any touts but it was too busy so I asked some dodgy looking gypos. They wanted me to get in a car with them and go out of town to get the ticket but I'm not that green.
anyway in no time they multiplying like f**k and theyre heavies were everywhere.
I told my mate to keep hold of the money and keep his distance while I dealt with them. A f*cking hour later someone turns up with the tickets but I noticed the print was smudged and thought f**k that.
Anyway cut a long story short I managed to shake them off and ended buying tickets off a couple of students for £130.
I went into the ground straightaway cos I wanted to make sure the tickets were legit. I got in 4 hours before kick off and it was f*cking banging in there.
they booed the galatasaray player when they cane out to look at the pitch from the moment they came out til they went in half an hour later!
Then they booed the refs for another half an hour.
they were throwing seats on the pitch when galatasaray scored and the were fighting the police every 5 minutes!
Absolutely off the scale mate.

Italy is good cos they got the whole football culture thing going on with dressers etc and the undercover police are the best dressers of the lot.
In Turkey it's just a bunch of scruffy cunts trying to kill each other! Hahaha

No they haven't copied the British look mate.
They seemed to like the high gloss clothing with plenty of moncler jackets on display.
I know stone island is on a bit of the wane over here but there some lovely stone island jackets out there.
the irriducibili have strong links with luis vuitton too.

I wasn't sure i always bought from that unofficial outlet in Bristol and they cut out the label

Nah i knew they were italian labels but in terms of dressing for football. they were miles behind our culture. I'd love to see some photos of these kents at the game. i bet it's a lifted look.

Lakey, what was the name of Italian casuals in the 80's? I read a good article in the Pica Post, the Oi Polloi, newsletter.

Found it. Its the Paninero culture. Not so much football hooligans but a dressing culture, sort of like our mods.

Cheers interesting write up on wikkipedia.

"The cornerstones of Paninaro fashion were: Timberland boots, Sebago or Vans deck shoes, Argyle and Burlington socks, Armani jeans rolled up to ankle height, El Charro belts with Texan or western-style big buckles, Best Company sweatshirts, Schott flyer's leather Jackets, bulky Moncler jackets, and brightly colored Invicta rucksacks. Designer Olmes Carretti collaborated with the British sailing brand Henri Lloyd to further develop their iconic "Consort" sailing jacket so favored by the Paninari."

El Charro belts with Texan or western-style big buckles

I still don't think they were on a par with us, Not the same machismo, football links or relationship with violence, there are similarities in the consumerist non-idealistic apolitical angle. Although northerners like Phil Thornton insist the scene wasn't about consumerism/social climbing. Either way western-style big buckle belts aren't big nor clever
