MIRROR : SEVERANCE DEAL FOR LAUDRUP

By Alan Nixon Comments
Michael Laudrup's Swansea future set to be decided in crunch meeting with club supremo Huw Jenkins
15 Jun 2013 23:00
A severance deal is due to be discussed as Jenkins flies out to meet with Laudrup's agent Bayram Tutumlu, who has been cut out by the club

Laud and clear: A parting of ways looks likely following difficulties with Laudrup's agent
Matthew Lewis
Michael Laudrup is on the brink of resolving his differences with Swansea – by leaving the club, writes the Sunday People's Alan Nixon .

City supremo Huw Jenkins is flying to Spain for a summit meeting with manager Laudrup’s controversial agent to thrash out a big-money severance deal.

Laudrup wants a golden handshake of up to £4million for the two years left on his newly-signed contract, but the Swans are hoping the Dane is a target for a rival club which would give them the cash to fund a replacement.

Jenkins has been invited to Barcelona by Bayram Tutumlu – the agent the Swans chairman cut out of any involvement in Laudrup’s transfer dealings. That put a wedge between the two camps which has strained the relationship to breaking point.

Now the only solution looks like a parting of the ways.

The ideal solution for Jenkins would be interest in his manager from Paris Saint-Germain – but Laudrup’s chances of landing that job look a long shot as the French giants are holding talks with Carlo Ancelotti in Italy this weekend.

A PSG delegation has gone to Rome to stop Ancelotti angling for a move to Real Madrid.

If Ancelotti does go to the Spaniards, PSG will have a short-list that includes Laudrup – but behind Roberto Mancini and Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas among others.

Meanwhile Jenkins is looking to buy players that he and his staff have identified rather than Laudrup targets.

And if Laudrup does go, Swansea will opt for a coach rather than a manager, with old boy Graeme Jones and Manchester United’s outgoing Rene Meulensteen in the frame.

Jones is leaving Wigan to join Everton, but the Swans would love him back. Meulensteen, who missed out at Wigan, would also fit the demands.

This is why all these stories of Laudrup saying that he is staying are not the end of it.

Laudrup declares his intention to stay while all around him stories continue to run about him leaving. It runs like this until Swansea get a call from an interested club or Jenkins says enough is enough. Laudrup is then told he can go to which he says, "but I've got a contract, if you want me to go I want it paid up."

It would seem his position now is pretty much untenable. He is not getting the targets he wants and the club know he will get his head turned by any potential job.

How does this bust up with his agent work? The club won't deal with him so isn't he going to be going all out to find his man another job in order to get another payday?

I have also never understood the story about Tutumulu touting around Swansea's best players behind the clubs back, why on earth would LAUDRUP want this to happen, surely he should be annoyed at his agent as well.

From a selfish point of view it would be better for us if he is still there come the start of the season. It just might undermine the start of their season. I don't say that because their Swansea, I say it as they are a fellow PL team that we need to be below us for us to stay up.

So what your saying is that Laudrup is engineering a move away from swansea but wants a payoff first :laughing6:

That's about the size of it.

But the pay off will come when he leaves, Swansea will either give him permission to talk to another club
Thereby making it THEIR decision to let him go. The club will get money as part of his buy out clause but a lot of that will go to Laudrup to pay off his contract.

Lets just hope Jenkins turns away ALL suitors.

Wheather swansea give Laudrup permission or not, if Laudrup leaves for another club swansea will pay Laudrup nothing. The only way Laudrup would get a pay-out from swansea is if swansea sacked him, which belive me they will not do.

If he asks to leave, he owes Swansea, and if a club come in for him as it stands it will cost them compensation, so he can't say he wants to leave........

He can stay and make a Cnut of himself though and in the end Swansea will allow him permission to leave without the new club having to pay the compensation then that is more money for him and his agent......

The longer he stays the better, you are in limbo he's got you by the bollox, you need him gone and to move on .......

Swansea want a coach not a manager, what a joke it sounds like your director thinks he's a manager :laughing6:

I can't wait to see him try.....

If Huw doesn't let him go he's stuck with a pissed off manager who doesn't want to be there???

Have ever worked on any business yet alone a football ball manager, if you have someone sulking and wanting to leave, for the good of the business you have to let them leave or they don't do the job and the business suffers.....

It's a game of chess now the longer he stays the worse for you...

so if someone says they want to stay that means they want to leave, as for sulking this is laudrup we are talking about a multi-millionare, who wouldn't hesitate to leave if thats what he wanted to do. No its time to face the facts and that is he wants to stay at swansea, because he loves being swansea's manager and lets not forget he has achieved more in one season at swansea, that what cardiff has achieved in the last 86 yrs

I can't speak for every Jack here but i wish he'd feck off now and take that rattlesnake of an agent with him. There's a reason he never stays longer than a season at a club and it's because unless he's drowning in cash for new players he doesn't have the confidence in his own ability to push his charges on.

Go now Mike,it was great whilst it lasted and you gave us our best ever season but no one dictates to our board, not even you.

At last an honest Jack who understands the situation, tell that other jack thick tw@t he's angling for a move, he thinks he loves it there and wants to stay :laughing6:

In Martinez we trust........ Ah feck
In Paulo we trust....... Ah feck
In Rodgers we trust ..... Ah feck
In Laudrup we trust.......

They'll never lean.

If a bigger/better job comes up then he'll be off like a shot, same goes for Malky. They are seen as a stepping stone, especially with the budget constriants.

They just seem to get quite emotionally attached to their mangers down west then act like jilted lovers when the inevitable happens.

I'd like to think that should Malky leave we would show him the respect that he has earned and wish him well.

A good honest post, but if you go back to when Laudrup signed for you, many of the sensible posters on here (not the wind up merchants) questioned his "staying power" due to his history of jumping ship.

I wanted Bergkamp so when Laudrup was un-veiled it was a 'meh' moment for me, personally. That soon changed when we slaughtered QPR 5-0 first game though  .Since we've won the cup and as you're all aware, our league form as been pretty poor and without the influx of millions and millions, I feel that Laudrup thinks he's taken us as far as he can.The thing with football fans is we're all fickle as hell and im sure wherever he decides to go next, those clubs fans will not care too much on his past and his in-ability to stick around. He's in a fortunate enough position where his name goes before him and most clubs and it's fans are in awe of the man. That's wearing thin in Swansea atm.
