It's Swansea versus Cardiff for Peter Odemwingie as West Brom prepare to sell striker
11 Jun 2013

Bluebirds' fellow Prem newcomers Hull and Palace are in the frame too but Swans have Europa League as ace up their sleeve

Peter Odemwingie tops a list of players Michael Laudrup wants to sign following peace talks with his bosses at Swansea, writes Darren Lewis.

Laudrup's future with the Capital One Cup holders could depend on whether the club are successful in recruiting his targets.

The Swans' manager spoke with chairman Huw Jenkins earlier this week, following the latter's return from holiday.

During the talks, Laudrup's concerns about gave Jenkins a list of the names he wants - rather than the ones identified by the club's own scouting system.

Odemwingie held discussions with West Brom last week and was told he can leave the club for the right price.

The marksman, also interesting the three newly promoted Premier League clubs Hull, Cardiff and Crystal Palace, became aware that he was on Swansea's list on Monday.

Nigeria international Odemwingie, 32 next month, is keen to revive his career after being frozen out at the Baggies since his aborted transfer to Queens Park Rangers in January.

With a year left on his contract, Swansea believe they can get him for
around £3million.

Agree but is a fantastic player when on form
Difficult to decide whether he would be worth the hassle :?: everyone deserves a chance IMO maybe being loved at a club and happy would change his attitude :?

True, though he was loved by WBA fans... I guess the money offered by QPR was his attraction.. Which is why he probably won't go to Swansea.

f**k off to Swansea please Odemwingie, wouldn't even care if he bit us on the arse and scored a derby winner, don't want him anywhere near us

Re: ' Cardiff v swansea transfer market duel '

Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:32 pm

Some people will say he is rubbish due to the fact of the QPR scandal but there is no doubt he has done a fair bit for WBA and notched a few goals but with the attitude like that is just disgusting.

I can accept if players move onto bigger things which includes money but to force a move is just pathetic.

SWANSEA EYE WEST BROM STRIKER PETER ODEMWINGIE -

SWANSEA are weighing up a move for West Brom bad boy Peter Odemwingie.

The striker’s Hawthorns career looks over following a bitter fall-out from his failed move to QPR in January.

Albion want around £3.5m and have insisted they will not let Odemwingie, who turns 32 next month, leave on the cheap.

But they would prefer to sell before players and staff report back for pre-season training, so may drop the price.

The newly-promoted trio of Cardiff, Hull and Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the Nigeria international, who has 12 months left on his Baggies deal.

The Swans can offer Odemwingie European football next season after they qualified for the Europa League by winning the Capital One Cup

agree totally after his driving to qpr debacle in the transfer window couldent see malky touching him with a barge pole

let them have him.... shocking attitude.... and at 32, younger players out there.

Re: ' Cardiff v swansea transfer market duel '

Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:05 am

Trouble is any quality players like this, for us to stand a chance will have to have some negative side to him. I think we can trust MM on players he thinks might be worth it

Re: ' Cardiff v swansea transfer market duel '

Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:25 am

I'd take him if he was happy to play for us for footballing reasons, which is unlikely.

Re: ' Cardiff v swansea transfer market duel '

Wed Jun 12, 2013 11:25 am

Doesn't he want to live in London ?

I hope we don't touch him, we probably inquired and was told £3m + and left it at that.

At 32 he is looking for the golden pay cheque- I doubt he will get it here or up west....

If we go head to head, he'll choose Swansea as they are more established and have the Europa League to offer, it's common sense for him. However, if he realises what the local area and people are like, maybe he'll choose us

In all seriousness, I'm not convinced by this guy. Half decent player but that whole QPR thing really put me off him

I can't see Malky go for players like him if I'm honest, Not a bad player but his attitude is terrible.

obviously he would choose us because we are better than you but if you offer more money i think he'll go to you as he seems money orientated
love the way you lot are saying let the jacks have him just in case we do get him so you can then say you didn't want him anyway ;)

Spin all you like, I don't want him because of his poor attitude.. You are better? Last season, yes. Could all change very quickly.

It's clear money is more important than competitions... Mind you, Europa league isn't the biggest draw in the world. :laughing5:

jose canas joined us despite being offered more money by stoke so it's not always about the cash

you don't think playing in europe would be a good thing to offer a potential signing ?!

you must have a hell of a search engine cos i cant find nothing says Stoke ofered him more than swansea.
I've heared his brother is a recovering drug addict and will be moving with him cos he can get the care and
expert help he needs in swansea - as well as a £5 bag if he falls off the wagon

I can't see him getting on with Malky, he seems a chippy little tw*t.

Having said that, he scores goals and we need a goal scorer who is going to bang 15-20 in.

I do see your point, but if he became available, I don't know how we could turn him down, lots of experience, and proven.
Even if it was a 1 year contract

And he won't be showing any attitude when Bellamy gives him a few pimp slaps

Jesus Christ, we aren't talking about Canas! We are talking about Odemwingie & it is quite clear that after the QPR debacle, money is quite important to him...

It would be a good thing, of course.. But it's not the massive pull you seem to think it is. To be fair, I think the opportunity for playing for someone like Laudrup is a bigger draw than Europa League...

(Though how long he's got left there, who knows! :laughing6: )
