After numerous botched efforts Cardiff finally gained promotion to the top flight in 2012-13, Malky Mackay implementing a robust line-up that will need noteworthy additions.

It is worth mentioning that none of the promoted sides this term finished higher than 14th. Birmingham were the last promoted side to finish in the top 10 in 2009-10, a feat that becomes harder with every passing season with the money being spent across the division.

With 72 league goals in 46 games last season – just six more than relegated Peterborough – they are by no means prolific, and will obviously find the going far harder against the Premier League’s less forgiving defences.

The Bluebirds’ top scorer last term was Heidar Helguson, registering just nine strikes. The veteran Icelandic striker has since returned to his homeland, increasing what was already a notable void in the goal-threatening options.

At this moment in time Swansea look all set to top the intra-Welsh battle, and can be backed to do so at 1/3, with Cardiff an 11/5 shot to cause an improbable upset.

I love the comparison to Peterborough in terms of goals. They don't mention that only Watford and Palace scored more than us, and palace only scored 1 more! And surely it's better for goals to come from many players in a team as opposed to rely heavily on one?

Carroll is a different type of player, michu was sold because his old club needed the cash, when Swansea went up we signed ,vorm, caulker, graham, all who had good seasons, the rest like britton, taylor were more suited to pl football than championship football because of the way swansea play. Let me ask you what type of football do cardiff play, do you play like stoke or like swansea, or some other team i maybe wrong cardiff may have a good season but cant see it myself unless you sign 8 good players.

Swansea only play with one striker since the days of jason scotland, when we went up sinclair scored something like 28 goals and he's not a striker, same with michu over 20 goals last season and hes not a striker, so your probably right your strikers may well be better than swansea's.

And yes i was saying even before swansea kicked off in the pl that players like britton would be more suited to playing teams like villa, fulham etc, than, scunny, sheff utd p'boro. And i said the players you have now will struggle, if or when you sign new players i may change my mind.
