Chalobah

Since Lampards had a contract extension at Chelsea
Think we should definitely put in a cheeky loan bid for him!

yeah why not,hes had a good season at championship level,so a season at a premiership side(still sounds good saying that) could be the next phase of his development

No hes overrated. People saw the one good goal on Sky Sports and the media panel were like 'OMG CHELSEA UNEARTHED THE NEXT ZIDANE HERE' and creaming themselves. Its pathetic. We've had better at Cardiff ourselves in years gone by. Would rather Willie Boland back.

Zola dubbed him as the next Frank Lampard when he signed him at the start of the season. Although I think we will go for someone else, he'll be a star in the future

What about what everyone was saying about him before he scored that goal? Chalobah has been playing exceptionally well all season for Watford.

No he hasn't. 5 goals in 38 games tells its own story. He's not fit to lace Gunnarsson's boots or polish them. Aron, 8 goals from defensive midfield. People have jumped on the Chalobah hype train because;

1) Hes a Chelsea player and the media love Chelsea
2) Hes an England youth product

Another overhyped England player to add to the list. If he was good he would have been on the winning team today but he was bullied all day in midfield and Crystal Palace dominated. A good player delivers when its needed. Dont worry, you continue creaming yourselves down West over Englands overhyped players. You love the Union Jack more than Churchill himself you caravan dwellers down there.

I'm not sure whether that's an honest post, but if it is it's an horrific one that is so far from the truth.

He's not a striker, he's a box to box midfield player, he shouldn't be judged on how many goals he's scored. 5 goals from that position, is not a particularly poor one. Aron Gunnarsson may have scored more goals, that doesn't make him a better player just like Gary Cahill isn't a better defender than Vincent Kompany based on his goalscoring record. Chalobah has excelled in his position at Championship level.

I'm not sure what sort of idea you have about the media towards Chelsea, but they've had so much stick from the media over John Terry scandals, Ashley Cole scandals, over Fernando Torres goal draughts, over managerial crises over racism claims and the media dislike Chelsea.

Nationality has nothing to do with it, he's done very well and I don't take his nationality in to account when saying that.

Every single good footballer has been on a losing team.

You getting him on loan would be similar sort of business to us bringing in Steven Caulker on loan, which was an excellent signing which helped us to a very good first season, one of the signings of that Premier League season.

Just when you thought that post couldn't get any worse, regarding the validity towards some of your points you end it on a bitter remark about a completely unrelated topic.

Absolute bollocks. He is another product of the English hype train and that is all there is to it. In five years time you will see and he'll be at a mid table/low Premier League team. He wont be at Chelsea that is for sure. He's not as good as Kim or Gunnarsson or any of your midfield.

The hype train is so annoying. A box to box midfielder is supposed to score. Lampard, Gerrard, etc. are all expected to chip in with goals and score. Chalobah is not as good as people make out. Go on the Chelsea forums and they know its all hype themselves, the ones who watch The Championship. Fabian Delph ring a bell as another hyped up midfielder?

Im leaving it there as you'll soon see for yourself. Almen Abdi has been their best player this season for me.

So you've pretty much gone to the in the future option to end the argument, because you know your points about Chelsea media bias, his 5 goals and not getting credit before his screamer were valid.

He's had a fantastic season in the Championship, and he'll more than likely be in the Premier League next season nevermind five seasons, there'll be plenty of teams looking to get him and he would get in your first team. He'd be an excellent signing, he'd be an excellent rotation player for us.

We'll see in years to come. He wouldn't get in our team. If we wanted to end up where Watford are now he'd be a great addition to our team. Captain of Iceland and one of the biggest Asian prospects in football? He has no chance.

English hype train is so sad its ridiculous.

Of course he is going to say that. He wants to boost his confidence and get him playing well. I have no doubt he'll play in the Premier League in the future but the hype that hes the next big thing for Chelsea is ridiculous. Mourinho, if he has any sense will loan him to Palace or a Championship level team. He'd fit in well next to Williams but I dont see him fitting in here in anything other than a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 and in both positions he'll be alongside a better DM and player in Aron Gunnarsson.

In 3-5 years he'll be ready to do it but he would not be a good addition to our squad now if we want to survive. I really hope Malky keeps looking at foreign prospects or goes out for Williams who I believe is a quality player.

I also think SCFC is underselling Swansea who should be chasing a Europa League spot in the table next year and Chalobah is not that level. He would not get in Swansea's team at all in my opinion and Laudrup knows the team needs experienced veterans in De Guzman to do what they do best and not young and up and coming players. The best thing for him is to go back out to a Championship team in my opinion. I would not want him at Cardiff, too much of a risk and I believe both Aron and Kim are better and we should be trying to buy even better than them.

Re: Chalobah

Kim and Aron are 23 and 24, Chalobah is 18...

For his first season in football he has been very impressive. Too say he's never going to be good enough is ridiculous. You can't base a player on one game. It's like saying Messi is shit if he doesn't score in a game. Nonsense

I dont think he'll ever be good enough to be a Chelsea regular and that is my opinion and im entitled to it. I didn't base that on one game, he was crap today as were most of Watford, I based that over a season. Mourinho was there today so we'll see what he thinks is best for him. I think Championship/low Prem team like Hull City or Palace.

People saying he'd get in our team now are wrong. Yes Aron and Kim are older and they're better. We should be signing better as well.

Personally, I agree with Dando that he'll find the step up hard and then after getting used to it, be a mid/lower league team player. No discredit to him but the media are making him out to be something hes not like they always do.

Delph was the next superstar. Where is he now?

Re: Chalobah

Tue May 28, 2013 9:17 am

Yes, De Guzman's a better player than him, but Chalobah is better than players like Kemy Agustien and would be a useful member to our squad.

He is far better than players like Kim and Gunnarson, and he'll show you that next season.

Re: Chalobah

Tue May 28, 2013 9:40 am

Chalobah learnt a very hard lesson yesterday from the experienced Jedinak and he'll be better for it. I think he'd be a decent signing to add to our squad. Would he start ahead of Gunnarsson and Kim etc? Not yet but there's plenty of time for him to change that. I think he'd cost us about £4m at least though. Worth it in my opinion.

He may turn out to be better but he ain't better than Kimbo or Gunnarson at the moment.

You forget that we played them twice this season and got 4 points off them. They have a number of very good players (Vydra, Deeney, Forestieri, etc.) but he wasn't one that stood out.

In the first game he did nothing and Gunnarson came on as a late sub and sc ored the winner. In the 2nd game Mutch, Gunnarson and Kimbo were all over the Watford midfield and Chalobah could do nothing to turn the game despite them needing a win more than us at the time.

As I say, you may be right about Chalobah in the long term but at the current time he is nowhere near the level of Kimbo (23) Gunnarson (24) or Mutch (21) and how many promising 18 year olds have faded away without a trace over the years ?

Re: Chalobah

Chalobah is a player I rate very highly. He's 18 for god sake and was first choice for a team that finished 3rd and reached the play off final. He's a player who will become a class player. I'd love him here don't care what people say :ayatollah:

Yeah, tipped for a big move to a top four club. This is what im getting at mate, they build them up and then watch them fall. Its all a bit sad and its why players like Michael Johnson are around. The media should just let them get their football education in peace when they're younger and not add extra pressure they dont need. Chalobah, many tipping him for great things at Chelsea. I'll admit he'll probably end up at a mid table/lower table Premier League team in the future but he is still a young raw player and is overhyped. He is not the Chelsea saviour some are making him out to be. The press do my head in and there is none of it for Gunnarsson because he's not English. Thank God for that because Gunnarsson just gets on with his job, doing what he does best, I have met him and he is one of the craziest most down to Earth people you could ever meet. Honestly, how many players have Chelsea had now on their youth team who were going to be great only for Ramires, Oscar, etc. all to be bought in their place?

Im not saying he is a terrible player, im saying he is overhyped and I stand by that.
