Bluebirds Unite turn out in their hundreds

Hundreds of Cardiff City supporters marched through the city centre today in protest to the club’s rebranding.

The Keep Cardiff Blue group has accused Malaysian owner Vincent Tan of sweeping away 100 years of history and tradition.

Tan has divided the opinions of bluebirds supporters since changing the home kit to red and altering the club badge.

He is also reportedly preparing the float the club on the Malaysian stock exchange.

A large group of fans peacefully waved banners and chanted “we’re Cardiff City, we’ll always be blue” this afternoon as around 300 fans marched from Cardiff Castle to Grangetown.

Their final destination, the Neville pub, was kitted out in blue to show its support for the campaign.

Sian Branson, 31, organised the march and has supported the club for 15 years.

She said: “We wanted this to be a peaceful protest which took place on a non-match day so it wouldn’t affect the team - and we’ve achieved that.

“Some of us feel like we’ve lost our friends and our identity as a result of the rebranding.

“I like to think of us as the Cardiff City Conservation Society.

“But I don’t think Vincent Tan cares about what we’re doing. We’re grateful for getting into the Premiership, but not at the expense of who were are and what we represent.

“These people are my family and this was a family fun day. Watch this space for more activities and events from us.”

Mrs Branson said people from as far as Gloucester joined the 300-strong KCB group for the march.

She said members of the public were clapping them as they made their way through the city centre.

"Some of us feel we have lost our friends"

Hate to break this to you but if you have lost friends over a colour then you werent very good friends to begin with.

This event was advertised as a celebration and not a protest. Resorting to lying to get people to attend.

I have been there, and from what I saw it was a celebration! It was a nice day out, naturally, as expected, fans shared their views on the rebrand. I don't think anyone lied about this. Seriously it was nice day out!

Around 300 CITY FANS who care about our clubs identity saw fit to get off their asses and do something so anyone who wasn't there look at your conscience and ask yourself do you really care about your club? Plastics the lot of you. Shame On You. CC :ayatollah:

I care about my club. So much so i was willing to put my own preference of colour aside for the progress of CCFC.

Can you say the same or does your selfish need of the colour blue come before CCFC?

SHAME ON YOU!

Fair play for them turning out. But I was also confused by the against modern football banner. Most of the people holding that looked about 15 at the most. Modern football is all they know.

All the work done by hundreds just been undone by one....

I was with my daughter all day mate, which to me is far more important than a protest which sadly will fall on deaf ears, because it lacked originality or direction. Not having a pop at anyone involved but what was the outcome expected from today's march to the pub?

Then to come on here and berate fellow supporters and label them,is far worse than the ones who were attempting to mock the fans who did march.

Where was this March a year ago? When it actually would've had or made an impression on some people...

I cannot say for certain but I can only assume that many of the 300 fans who marched with the Anti Modern Football banners were also on the Pitch at Charlton when we finally secured promotion the home of modern football.

Also Sky/Cable and the Internet has had a major influence in the development of Modern Football.
Yet they all watch and use it despite being against it....

There were fans there who last year supported the rebrand. I know because they abused Chuckles protest account on Twitter. People dont forget and I know the peoples faces quite clearly. Chuckles was subject to loads of abuse by these saying we must have the £100m and get in the Premier League. Now these same people are out there chanting to get our identity back. You cant have it all. It doesn't work like that.

It is very clear that last summer Tan played us for morons. He as much as threatened to take his money if we wouldn't accept the re brand. I have been dead against it from the word go, but even I had to think twice about it at one point. it's no surprise that there may have been people that, given the supposed choice of "red or dead" they accepted it. It has become abundantly clear over the last year that he had no intention of walking away.

By the way, I can't help noticing there seem to be a surprising amount of posters with a very low post count that are having a dig a pro blues. Nothing to do with multiple accounts???? :laughing6:

Really? That's quite interesting mate! Maybe they have just changed their thoughts on it though? I mean, you've done that several times yourself! ;)

TerryB - sorry, I'm against the rebrand, but coming on here & calling people names & questioning their support of the club is wrong.

I was there today. It was a well organised and peaceful protest. Just what everybody wanted.
I hope it will be the start of many.

If it is, and you are successful, I will salute you and have the utmost respect for you. However I do as stated on my other account think its too late. Oh well, you never know. Maybe Tan will wake up and climb out of the other side of the bed for a chance and land in a world of blue.

I'm glad you all had a good time and made your feelings known but we all know that red is the colour for the forseeable future. Tan will do what he wants but after 48 years I'm more than happy with what we have achieved this year . I will never buy anything red but let's get behind the boys as it's going to be a very challenging year whatever colour we wear :malky: :malky: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :old: :old: :malky: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

absolutely brilliant is what I say we should be BLUE thats what we are and thats the way it should be .

I couldnt give a shit what division we are in I will support this club no matter what but to bin are identity also binned are belonging and I think for what Tan did is an insult to Cardiff City and me personally.

Bluebirds unite did a peaceful protest to show people that they are not happy and in my eyes thats right 100 %

Keep it going and and next time I will be there protesting the red kit is so so wrong and it needs to go :ayatollah:
