Pig's head left in Kenwyne Jones's locker

Stoke City have launched an internal investigation after a pig's head was left in Kenwyne Jones's locker as a training ground prank.

Jones is understood to have been furious after discovering the bloody carcass in his locker on Friday morning and threw a brick through the windscreen of Glenn Whelan's car as revenge.

The picture of the pig was then posted on Instagram by American winger Brek Shea to heap embarrassment on Stoke, who have already begun an inquiry into the incident.

It is understood Whelan, the Republic of Ireland international, was behind the prank and he is expected to meet Stoke officials to explain his behaviour before Sunday's trip to Southampton.

A Stoke statement read: "The Club takes seriously reports of an incident at our Training Ground this afternoon.

"A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in accordance with the Club’s disciplinary procedures."

This latest practical joke comes days after Michael Owen's Mercedes was pelted with eggs and flour, while it is understood other pranks have been taking place all week as Stoke prepare for their final game of the season.

However, Whelan and Jones could now face disciplinary action, with chief executive Tony Scholes leading the inquiry.

Jones's girlfriend, Kissa Abdullah, wrote on Twitter: "Big men acting like kids a pigs head is not a prank its just disgusting!!!!! Wtf??? I don't get how was that sup 2 be funny!!!! Really???"

The issue here is that Jones is a Muslim which makes an amusing prank very inappropriate. If Whelan knew his beliefs then frankly it's sick. I'm no Muslim but you have to respect people's religious beliefs.

It's not about being a lefty or a loon, its about respect. If the pigs head had been put in say Michael Owen's locker, then yes it is funny. However, putting it in a locker of a muslim (whose religion forbids contact with pig) is down right disgusting and disgraceful. Muslims believe that pig is dirty, unclean and prevents them getting into heaven. Why did the prankster feel the need to disrespect Jones's beliefs?


Its amazing that some of the fans on here think disrespecting Jones's beliefs is funny, acceptable and 'banter' yet harp on about their beliefs being disrespected by turning our colours from blue to red.
