'We are better than Cardiff City' insists Hull City star Ahmed Elmohamady.

The Tigers' Egyptian winger claims Steve Bruce's team have played better than runaway Championship winner Cardiff City this season.


Rivals Hull City have lit the touchpaper ahead of tomorrow’s top-of-the-table showdown with Malky Mackay’s title-winning Cardiff City by claiming: “We’re the better team.”

The extraordinary boast was made by Hull’s player of the year, Egyptian star Ahmed Elmohamady.

He threw down the gauntlet by insisting: “Cardiff are a good team who play really good football, but we believe we have been better than them this year.

“It is up to us to show that and win on Saturday. Then we will be promoted. We will show everyone what we can do and hopefully that will be enough.”

Elmohamady’s remarks will fire up Mackay’s runaway champions as they head north to the KC Stadium for a clash being dubbed by Elmohamady as being “as important as the Champions League final.”

An army of 2,300 Bluebirds fans are travelling to Humberside to watch the showpiece ending to the season. Second-placed Hull need to win the match to join the Bluebirds in gaining automatic promotion to the Premier League.
But City boss Mackay will demand his team spoil the planned Hull promotion party and ensure it is the Bluebirds travelling hordes singing loudest at the final whistle.

Although the match is effectively a meaningless one for Cardiff, Mackay wants his team to finish like champions in the battle of the top two. And Elmohamady’s claims about Hull being the better side will fire up Mackay’s Bluebirds further and ensure they don’t take their foot off the gas.

Mackay knows thousands of excited Bluebirds fans have scrambled for tickets to cheer on their team. The atmosphere inside the 25,000 capacity KC Stadium will be rocking, with some Hull fans dubbing the game as the biggest in their club’s 109-year history.

Elmohamady declared: “It’s a huge game. The match against Cardiff is like our Champions League final.

“They are the champions so we know it will be a tough game but we believe we can get the three points we need to win promotion. The players and staff here are working very hard in training this week to make sure everyone will be happy on Saturday.”

Ironically, a positive result for the Bluebirds could see Mackay’s former Watford club leapfrog Hull to grab promotion to the top flight.

Hornets striker Troy Deeney, who Mackay brought to Vicarage Road, said: “It’s not in our hands. But we must win our game and hope Cardiff do a job for us.

“We’ll be going for the win and then see what happens at Hull.”

I think that's pretty much spot on and I think you can include Watford in that as well.

Whatever happens tomorrow either Hull or Watford will set a new record for clubs winning automatic promotion from this level in a 46 game season. No club has won automatic promotion having lost more than 12 games in a season and Hull have lost 15 and Watford 14 so far.

Not much of a record for a team winning automatic promotion and this clown would do well to remember Cardiff have won one game more, lost 6 less, scored 11 more goals, conceded 7 less, had 2 more clean sheets, failed to score in 6 less matches.

I could go on but the stats like the table don't lie, Cardiff are the best team in this league by miles.

Watford picked up a bit of form, think they wont have too much trouble with Leeds and see them winning 2-0.
