Former Cardiff City manager Dave Jones lodges £539,000 High Court claim against the club
29 Apr 2013 17:01
The former manager claims he is owned hundreds of thousands of pounds for taking the club to the FA Cup final and various play-off rounds during his time in charge.

Former Cardiff City manager Dave Jones claims the club owes him more than £500,000
Former Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has lodged a £539,000 claim at the High Court against the club.

Jones is claiming he is owed:

* £150,000 for reaching the FA Cup final in 2008;

* £100,000 for reaching the play-offs in April 2009;

* £250,000 for reaching the play-off final in May 2010;

* £100,000 for reaching the play-offs in May 2011

* £189,821 in a termination payment.

The claim deducts a £250,000 sum Jones received from the club for "outstanding bonuses" in 2011.

It means the total amount in the claim is £539,821.

The claim reveals Jones was paid £750,000 a year as Cardiff City manager. That would be his wage for as long as the club were playing in the Championship.

Details of his contract – effective from January 1, 2007 – included in the claim show he would be paid a £100,000 bonus for reaching the play-offs and £250,000 for reaching the play-off final.

He would receive a £750,000 bonus for promotion to the Premier League, where his salary would have doubled to £1.5m and he would have received another £750,000 for retaining Premier League status.

Christ!

What would he have been owed if he had actually been successful in any of those games?

With those bonuses I'm surprised he didn't smile a bit more.

Probably needs the money for his divorce settlement after cheating on his wife.

Be very interesting to see who is responsible for this.

Besides we did not reach the play offs in 2009.

Did we reach the play-offs in 2009?

Wasn't that the year we lost 6-0 to Preston?

He should be paying us money for 2009 !!

Not only did we fail to make the playoffs that year, they totally messed up the last game at Ninian Park :evil:

So the termination payment relates to the remainder of his rolling contract after he got the Sheffield Wednesday job. Surely there will be a clause which says that stops when he gets another job.

As for the playoffs in 2009 f**k me is he deluded or what. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Bonuses for getting to play offs and finals. Not even embarrassed is he, at how many of all them he actually won?

Seems he really is a nearly man. He is probably owed the money under his contracts. But surely he failed in his job by not winning/achieving what he was ultimately employed to do.

Dave Jones the loser, but wants paying for it. Scouser, so obviously the victim, and not his fault.

Exactly. Never forget or forgive him for that.

We should all put in a counter claim against him.

I think Hammam still had control of the club when he Sacked Lawrence and Appointed Dave Moans and was advised by Ridsdale to meet him in London :shock:
Anyway shocking decision whoever gave him that contract with those high bonuses :shock:

The article's been amended to state 2010 playoffs.

So he gets 100k for playoffs and 250k for the final? :shock:

He made a fortune out of our club with the wages he was on and now he wants a bonus he didn't even earn! Ungrateful kunt. We was even paying him gardening leave after he got shown the door. I had respect for dave jones, but the way he's been carrying on lately with all his sly digs at our club and now this... I hope he chokes on his own vomit

not sure what everyone is complaining about, if it was stated in the contract then he is owed the money and the club should pay up.

If that was his contract then fair enough. Bet Tan finds a loop hole though!

Massive rewards being claimed for abject failure.

I think it was Ridsdale who agreed the contract with Jones.

Fair play, we've had some right knobs involved with our club over the past years

Doesn't appear to have found a loophole in the Langston saga yet (unless he's keeping it as close to his chest as his trousers!)

Great bit in the Walesonline report.

Says that Ridsdale "verbally agreed" to pay Jones a £150,000 bonus for reaching the FA Cup Final! :lol: :lol:

Ridsdale "verbally agreed" that my season ticket money would be used to buy new players but it was used to pay the tax man.

Ridsdale also "verbally agreed" that Jimmy Floyd could have a new contract then went back on his word at great cost to the club.

Perhaps the club could join Mr Ridsdale as a party to the proceedings and sue him for gross incompetence during his time as chairman of the club?

Or perhaps the grumpy Scouse tw*t should pursue Ridsdale under the terms of the "verbal agreement". After all, he's another arsehole who made far too much money from our club.

He breached his contract as he got another job whilst on gardening leave waiting for his 1 year rolling contract to end.

The Riddler told us he wanted our money early to strengthen in January, did we get it back when it didn't happen?

If it was verbally agreed then a contract exists and the money would be owed

However, moans will have to prove that was the case which I assume will mean Ridsdale giving evidence on his behalf.

Not sure what Ridsdale's own severence agreement was with VT but there could have been something included stopping Ridsdale from doing so?

That wouldn't affect anything agreed prior to that.
