WORK WITH HIM,OR FIGHT WITH HIM

Mon Apr 29, 2013 8:41 am

I am repeating a message I have said many times, if we want to see blue more often and eventually back as our main colour, the way to do it is to work with VT.

He's not the type to respond to bullying or pressure, if anything I think it will have the opposite reaction and he will dig his heels in and push through even more change.
If however we work alongside him and get him drawn in even more, then bit by bit we can chip away at him, he looks to me like a bloke who is getting the bug and wants the love, but doesn't want to be seen to back down.

We should be asking not demanding to get blue used alongside red s often as possible, ensure him it's not a challenge but a compromise, that way the official red can be marketed in the far east , but the fans can still keep our link with blue.

Most fans are showing their acceptance of the situation by not getting caught up in thinks at the games etc, and other than on message boards most people wouldn't know there was that much happening. You see people wearing red scarves and blue shirts or red shirts and blues scarves, people are just merging the two and the scarves with both colours in my opinion are the way forward at the moment.

This is just a suggestion and my opinion, everyone will have their own, but I have yet to see any protest, and walking away, any refusal to buy merchandise hitting home to him , and the only ones suffering are our own fans who are paying the price but not getting anywhere other than hurting themselves. :old:

As much as I hate to say it, I think that we now have to go the whole hog and turn red and forget the blue. That means everything in the stadium being turned from blue to red, the bluebird removed from the badge. Having this half way house is just prolonging everyones agony and anguish. If there are important commercial reasons for the change of colour, rather then just a mans whim, then surely keeping any form of Blue goes against that as it just serves to dilute the commercial importance of the red. We are entering a new era, that has to be commercially spot on, if we are to create financial revenues from sponsors that want to attract worldwide customers and more importantly far east markets.

From a commercial perspective I don't think the colour change was ever about just gaining supporters form the far east, it's more about sponsors partnering us in those countries, VT believes that we can piggy back onto the popularity of Man Utd and Liverpool, who play in Red. He knows those markets and I think what he has seen is that there is little brand/club loyalty, they just support winners. If we can get some of their fairy dust rubbing onto to us, then I think that he believes that will attract bigger sponsors and therefore make us financially self supporting in the new era of financial fair play rules.

I am saying all this from a purely pragmatic point of view, not as a supporters who has been watching cardiff for over 35 years, personally if or when it happens, like the above scenario, I am not sure if I would even continue going to games, I really don't know how I would feel about Cardiff City. However, I don't think it's about us older heads unfortunately, but the new supporters and global markets that are of the utmost importance to the finacial future of the club.

Gwyn I have mirrored your opinions right from day one.

It is pointless trying to take VT on in a directly and if we were foolish enough to do so then it would all end in disastrous consequences.

Crying about 'tradition and history' gets us absolutely nowhere and those who do it sound like some overgrown teenagers who have just had their mobile phones taken away, not to mention they do very little about it apart from moan from a safe distance either on a message boards or their stadium seats.

To get what we all collectively want i.e. Cardiff City playing blue, debt free and secure in the Premiership we have to make sacrifices now to better over selves for later.

VT obviously now has his eye on floating us on the stock market in the Far East. Before he does he has to make Cardiff City as attractive as possible to investors in that part of the world.

To achieve that he has to finally end the saga of the Langston Loan Notes, expand the stadium, build a training ground, secure TV/sponsorship deals in the Asia, secure our Premiership status and finally revamp our marketing via the rebranding.

Once we are floated and the £millions begin to flood in there just might be a window of opportunity to bring back the Blue shirt.

However, if we haven’t scratched his back now, then why the hell should he scratch our backs then?

Admittedly it is a gamble but a far safer and more realistic gamble than taking Vincent Tan on in a direct confrontation.

LB you make some brilliant points which can't be argued with, but even the most pragmatic of us don't want to give up on the blue shirt just yet. It might be 'retired' for a few years due to the reasons you have well documented, but as they say in football 'you never say never'

It is now that the likes of Annis and the Supporters' Trust should sit down with VT and say "right Vinney what exactly do you need from us?"

I think we know the answer and the reply should be "yes we will back you 100%, but when YOU have got what YOU want then remember US and give US what WE want" i.e. the Blue shirt.

Remember this man is a businessman above all else and if he can see £ or $ signs at the end of the tunnel he will use any means to get them and we should use that to our advantage.

I think this is the point which Gwyn is getting to and IMO he is absolutely correct and frankly it is the ONLY way to go.

For every one fan who doesn't go anymore there are hundreds waithing to take their place. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the rebrand are, the shirt colour martyr's have completely wasted their time.

To get the Blue back we have to think outside the box because the old style way of protesting just doesn't cut it anymore.

Ninian Park is now a housing estate and has no relevance to the present situation. So what if BB77 never went to NP? Believe it or not the numbers of those who never witnessed a game there is climbing season by season and that is a natural progression which will coninue for decades to come.

We live in the 21st century and have to play by 21st century rules. The 20th century passed us by 13 years ago and it's about time we wised up and got ahead of the game because history and tradition don't pay the bills.

Tony ive been to NP 100s of times since i started going there in 98-99 not that it makes any diffrence to the thread healine like, brownie just spins off anything to side track answering such things but im sure you know that :malky:
