A forum for all things Cardiff City
Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:17 am
I have briefly read a couple of threads regarding Sam coming back for the game today and the possibility of him having a future role to play at Cardiff. As much as I loved Sam and the positive things that he did for our club, I truly believe his time has come and gone. As a club we have moved on so much from those days. A fan base which is totally different now and which will evolve even further in the Premiership.
Some people have mentioned Sam in a role as a go between with fans and the board, but the reality is that without his dictatorial power, Sam becomes a parody and of course no one really trusts him any longer.
I would be happy to see our debt to Langston turned to equity share as it keeps cash in the club, but that's all it would be with no real voting power attached and no hands on role in any part of running the club.
A life presidency would be appropriate in recognition for what he did in dragging the club up from the floor and think even SAMs hardest critics would not deny him that.

Id rather he is paid what he is genuinely owed and he can leave CCFC alone.

This! Though it is questionable as to what he is legitimately owed and how much that is.

I'd rather he f**k off & never set foot in the place again
The guy has no interest in us like he didn't in Wimbledon - He is a liabilty

Agreed, we don't need all the bad press he brings and the stupid statements, bigger than Barca and all that bollox either......
He's had his attempt, came up well short and almost ruined us, and left us in the shit and with Ridsdale, don't want him back making all the same mistakes again...........
Take the money Sam and go and find a Wimbledon somewhere....

Wether we like it or no he is tied to the club in some way or another and to move forward more securely we may have soe bitter pills to swallow (similar to the rebrand)
Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:36 am
Could never trust the guy with our club again, most Sam fans are deluded and have been sucked into his story's of the future, he talks a good game but has no love for anyone or anything other than himself and that includes Cardiff City

Despite the vitriol aimed at Sam Hammam by some fans. It is not your decision whether sam is Welcome at the Club. VT has invited him for whatever reason and that should be respected. Without Sam vision we would not be where we are today. He invested in us when no one would touch us. You would do well to remember that!
Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:41 am
Invested means he put something into CCFC.
Enlighten me as to what Sam put in.

A lot of hard work, the groundwork for an academy and a new stadium, attracted players of a quality we hadn't seen for years.
Maybe you weren't around over the years to appreciate the change!

Hahaha you are joking. He got paid very well for what he did.
Half a mill per year consultancy fees, money for his brother.
Then borrowed us almost into oblivion.
Thanks so much Sam!!

If you are that ignorant, then there is no point arguing with you. As a fan you dont need to worry about what business men . You just need to turn up and watch the football. The quality of the football since Sam arrived has improved immensely to Premiereship level.

So many mistakes in one post, he paid 3 million pound up front for the club, he guaranteed the City bank loan against his langston name without asking for any security from the club.
As for making half a million pound a year in consultancy fees, if you had followed the facts rather than listened to gossip, the consultancy fees in total of six million pound were never taken out of the club and left in the club
So that alone is nine million pound it's cost him, yet alone mot having a Penny paid back of the twenty four million of the debt he took on.
PMG demanding their money back as a leverage to get Sam outed was the risk, Sam wasn't putting us into admin PMG were, but other than all that, your spot on.

I'm pretty sure he is quoted as saying he wants out. Even if he gets an honorary position (club President) VT will have all the power and decision making.
However, Sam is a wildly old soul and it cannot be argued he kept Wimbledon in the PL on a shoe string. He might be someone who could offer advice when needed.

Gwyn I know you where friendly with Sam are you still in contact with Sam do you know the reason for Sam being asked today it is simply to watch the game or is Tan looking to offer him something or just buttering him up to pay Langstone less.

TBH Craig you do have a point.
I don't know Sam Hammam but I have met him accidently on two occasions.
However, I form my opinion on the basis of what I know and that includes the fact he was here for 6 years and in that time he transformed us beyond all recognition.
I also believe in fairness and Sam is owed money by our club and we should honour that debt.
There are loads of arguments for and against Sam Hammam but for me it boils down to the above and I believe that without any agenda or personal involvement.
Sat Apr 27, 2013 10:46 am
If Sam got paid what he is genuinely owed id be happy. As long as he isnt involved with CCFC anymore.
What confuses me is the same folk that say we are here today because of Sam dont seem to blame him for the rebrand. Surely we have Tan on board because of Sams mis management.
Maybe those that would rather be blue in league 2 should actually despise Sam even more.........hmmmmmm

Without Sams involvement we could be another Barnet.
Let's be honest and objective, we werent going anywhere.
We have a history of turning on our owners and biting the hand that feeds them.
That includes Rick Wright at times and Steve Borley.
He left with a sour taste, but I think his heart was in the right place.
He was the catalyst this club needed when nobody else would touch us.

The truth will be revealed soon im sure, it will be like an episode of eastenders with twists and turns you was not expecting even though its dragged out for many years, but in the end the main thing is and should be is whats best for the club to go forward in everyway because without either of them both sam/tan we wouoldnt have been jumping about like kids yesterday with joy
Sun Apr 28, 2013 10:01 am
Out of Tan, Ridsdale and Hamman. Sam was the second biggest crook of them all behind the Riddler.
Tan is clean as a whistle and some twats on here want him gone and Sam in place! Lunacy.
