Blackpool and Jacks both did us a favour

Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:05 pm

When blackpool beat us in the play off final it was gut-wrenching but looking back I don't think we were ready. Jones in charge spending money on has- beens and getting found out on his tactics and organisation. We would have been odds-on for a painful relegation and God knows what in terms of a future.

The play-off defeat also saw the end of Jones and led to Malky's arrival and the rebuild of the team and infrastructure. I am absolutely certain that we will now be properly prepared to give it a real go. Malky's two seasons has also given us superb p.r. and the crowd issues have settled down.I also believe VT does trust Malky with his money and this trust has encouraged him to stay the course and bankroll us in the way he has.

Jb's being promoted before us has taken the sting out of the opposition that I think would have been directed toward CCFC as a Welsh club if we had done it before them.People also look at swansea and think 'Cardiff is a much better city and it would be far preferable to have them in the Premier League.'

As has been said we have also been able to secure the Championship title and been the first Wesh club to achieve this.

 Do they really? let's say Coventry and Leicester then. When you think of those two clubs do you honestly hand on heart think to yourself,I'd rather see Leicester in the Premier League than Coventry because it's a nicer city :?:

It's ridiculous and you should think before you type. :laughing6:

If Blackpool didn't beat us, we would have gone to the Premiership in blue and we probably wouldn't have been rebranded. That defeat possibly ended the existance of the real CCFC.

Totally off the point number 3 jerk as neither Leicester or Coventry are in the PL and anyway both cities are complete shitholes.
I believe it's generally accepted though that if PL fans are going to make a single up and down trip or make a week end of it Cardiff will be the favoured destination and definitely so if you put swansea into the mix as the alternative destination.

Tan was taken over at that point, most prob would of gone ahead at some point with the rebrand, I think he always new what he wanted, what does CCFC stand for now then

Really? All I've seen is a red, unrecognisable Cardiff City. If you could show me where this real CCFC is playing in blue with the real badge, I would appreciate it!

Just stick with the Cardiff - swansea comparison as with that no other examples are neccessary

Obviously under Jones we weren't ready. We couldn't even get out of this league with the miserable sod, what hope did we have of surviving in the Premier League? Jones went out to draw games in this division, had we gone up with him he's the type of manager who'd have gone to Old Trafford and seen a 1-0 loss as a good result. Malky will go and try to win or at least get a draw and if we get battered so be it but at least we tried.

I think Jones is a decent manager, did a great service for this club and kept us up their in the mix but hes not at that next level and I doubt he will be. Hes miserable but so would I be with all the crap hes been through.

No it's not. If we had gone up instead of Blackpool DJ would have fucked it up for us because he was too thick and too lazy to put in place the infrastructure that Malky has to ensure we have a good chance of survival. He was spot on. Why not try one of your own sites Twaddle...you might like it.    :ayatollah:

The media love the plucky little upstarts, that, and not the actual cities involved is all about the love in for swansea, the op was correct in so much as if we had got there first, we would have been viewed as a bigger club than them. The jacks can come back on that all they like, however we are viewed as a bigger catch than them, excluding the last two seasons.

i can see where your coming from with regard the play off defeat. we are now far better set up to try and survive the premiership but as for the jack comment i disagree they being there before us makes no difference. but we are the first to fp iy properly as champion rather than through the back door of the play offs

But we got to the championship properly and you scrapped through a home play off final. Never seemed to worry you lot?

Some good points there :ayatollah:

However, I think out of all the previous attempts, 2010 would have been the better time to go up. We would have been the first Welsh club in the Prem, and we would have done it in blue.
Plus, we had some good players then and DJ hadn't lost the dressing room. Chops and Burkey had great seasons, Ledley was at his best and Jay was showing Premiership qualities. And let's not forget Whittingham's 23 goals! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
